As soon as I walked in the front door the front desk ladies were fun but professional and helpful. Then I met Jamilah {not sure I spelled correctly} was very informative and worked very hard to find me appointment times within my busy schedule and I felt comfortable talking to her. Dr. Pumalov was also very informative and set my mind at ease involving things that cause me great anxiety.

Dr Lightbourne was great, on the admin side it's been terrible. I'm dealing with a goofball sized cyst ( just found out what it was on Wednesday's visit) in my cheek. I was sent for aCT scan. The blood work request was never sent to my GP, they did it anyway luckily, then I get the results call for my appointment for the CT scan they didn't get the referral. Had to call you guys back to send it to the correct fax number as yours was out of date for Burnaby urgent care. Then had to wait 4 days for the scan. 48 hrs later on a Friday I get an email booking me in for the following Friday. On the Monday i get that moved up to Wednesday. Get referred to the plastic surgeon. Dr Lightbourne said call back if I don't hear from the surgeon by Friday, I call smiles on Friday and the referral was only sent over on that day. My 1st appointment was on March 6th it's now the 22nd. No sense of urgency what so ever on your side meanwhile my face is swollen and painful and is now oozing puss!

Overall I am happy with the treatment meted out to me. All receptionists are very friendly. There is always a warm greeting. Dr. Cardwell is an excellent doctor and is also very personable. I had a 2:00 appointment on the 17th of January ,I arrived at about 1:40 or maybe earlier, when i arrived I was the only patient in the waiting area, however every arriving patient that came after me (at least 7-8) was allowed to go ahead of me , needless to say I became very frustrated and left ..a little explanation as to why I was not allowed to see my dentist would have probably made a difference..

Front desk staff is nice. I do personally feel like the hygienist/dentist make me feel a little disappointed with myself about my dental hygiene. One time I had a hygienist tell me how bad my teeth were as if I was an old man. Yet another said my teeth were fairly normal. As a person with anxiety going to the dentist can be a little over whelming. Sometimes I feel rushed as well like I’m just another patient coming in and ring me up an get me out type of vibe. I do like smiles but small things can be adjusted to make it a little better.

My consultation with Dr. Lightbourne was good. He did my implant 10 years ago and because of his explanations, treatment, bedside manner per say, I wanted to go back to him. I have had no issues with the implant and preferred to go back to him as I am comfortable and confident with him having already worked on my teeth. Dr. Lightbourne listened to me, answered my questions and has my best interests as a patient to heart. :) Reception was good as well, I was tended to right away. When I called for Dr. Lightbourne, I had no problem making contact with his assistant and when I left a message on the phone, she returned the call and she was also pleasant.

The temporary crown caused a lot of pain as it was catching my tongue. Had to come back the next day to try and ease this but not very successful. Hoping the permanent crown arrives quickly and sorts the problem. Stephen did explain the reasons for the pain.

I had my wisdom teeth removed this week for the second time so I thought I knew what to expect. However this time I was aware that I wasn’t adequately sedated prior to numbing and eventually extraction. I had alerted the dental nurse and dentist multiple times before that I was not feeling sedated and they preceded with the surgery. I ended up feeling a lot of the pressure this time around and had to really push through while they pulled my teeth out. It was quite a traumatic experience and I cried almost throughout the whole experience. Really not a good memory and wish I was listened to more.

Start with the most important thing: it’s a dentist’s office and I don’t mind going there!!! The staff are all always cordial. The hygienists provide tips where they think they will be helpful. Hygenist appointment was great - I do find it distressing the obsession with xrays - I have just read an article which looked at every study done in the last decade or more of over 2500 studies and the overwhelming results were not positive - the fact that dental professionals not only push xrays so much every time we go, but try to shame us when we say we are not keen, and state misinformation about their harmlessness is upsetting. Please just put in our files that we are not keen. Feel free to offer, but save the spiel about safety. If you want to send a similar study with assesses all the studies, then feel free, but until then, we love your practice, but not the pushing of the xrays.

All I can say is that I left Smiles short of a tooth but long on satisfaction. The good Dr. Lightbourne's unparalleled skill made short work of the extraction, a procedure to which I was certainly not looking forward. And the renovation of the surgery is second to none. No one relishes going to a dentist, but in my case coming to Smiles left me with , you guessed it, smiles.

Very happy with the service provided. Called the wonderful ladies in reception and gave them my distressed story of broken capped tooth and that my Dentist was off the island. They very kindly fitted me in at the end of the day. S /B Dr Cardwell who worked a miracle and put the offending tooth back in place. Afterwards he discussed treatment going forward. As a referral patient and as someone in the top 4 group of locals terrified of dentists I was naturally uneasy having to go to yet another 'dentist' I didn't know . Even probably underestimating my terror Dr Lightbourne was exceptional . He was quick to make lighthearted comments and in this post pandemic age he still extended a warm handshake at every meeting . He is obviously a very smart and talented guy and I just wished that he was around when I started going to the dentist back in the early 60s. Maybe I wouldn't have the hang ups that I do now ! I can assure you that if his name ever comes up in the future he'll get glowing reports from me . ps/ only 3 visits but never have I seen a dental clinic so punctual with appointment times .

The dental surgery went well. However, the after care left much to be desired. My visit on on Tuesday March 15 and by Saturday March 18, I developed an abscess. I was prescribed antibiotics by my GP on Monday March 21. He told me to contact the dental office to let them know what was going on, which I did. The receptionist said that someone would have contacted me that day, No one did. I called back again on the morning of Wednesday March 23 and told the receptionist that I would come in to see anyone because I was still experiencing pain and discomfort, even though I was trying to take the antibiotics. Again she said that "someone" would call me back. I called the afternoon and was put through to "someone", that is after, I strongly expressed dissatisfaction and disappointment, with the service. Terika took the time to explain certain things and said what I was experiencing was "normal".

Again you have failed with the financial part of your practice. Last year I was advised 3months after my appoint that there was an outstanding bill $1.8k bill this year I gave the benefit of the doubt and paid the required deposit up front and what I thought was a the final billing amount of $600k plus dollars now only to find that I have overpaid the account which was January 2022 and no one contacted me to advise, until I visited your office I would not have known, your accounting support need to pay attention to communication and what people owe or have a credit on account - this is appalling finance reporting.

Not too sure what "Online presence " is all about , but the actual experience of being present in the clinic , being worked on , charged and dis-charged , was the smoothest dental experience I have had , ever since the school dental clinic forgot to insert a jaw-opening device when being laughing gassed , resulting in gas- mask being removed , spring inserted and the 12 year old , namely myself waking up much later in a bed , with surrounded by anxious dental staff and a furious Mother .

They made me very comfortable, were knowledgeable and efficient at the same time being polite, friendly and professional. Emergency work, was done and dusted in 20 minutes, pain management was discussed carefully, although in truth I never had any pain. Highly recommend this dental practice.

Although not scheduled for Emergency dental work, Smiles took me in, after my frustrating call-around to various practices who were allegedly on the Emergency list but passed me along to someone else. Smiles were super organized; very pleasant reception staff; an excellent dental assistant; and a most professional Dr. Hypolite who triaged my dental situation in conjunction with the Patient. The facilities are top-notch and high-tech. My normal dentist was off-island at the time and would need to quarantine on his return.

I am totally satisfied with your clean environment and the feeling of safety especially with Covid19. Also the hygienist, Mary Anne, that did my cleaning especially since I had the same one for 30 years. I had asked if there was any senior rates and Ms. Richardson, receptionist, said she would follow that up with her boss. I am waiting for a response. I was with dentist Dyer for over 40 years until he retired. I only went to the office every six months for the hygienist. I was paying more for insurance coverage then what I was using so stopped that coverage. I know I probably had a special rate from Dr. Dyer since I was his first patient. The women who took over the practice had me paying 400% more for a cleaning. The second time I was not happy with that, hence my cleaning had gone over 6 months.

Dr. Lightbourne is the best...hands down!

Came to Smile Inc Monday. All Covid protocols were in place and heeded. People were professionally kind and it was warm and sterile environment. Made me want to change my dentist. Dr Lightbourne ...I think broke everything down to a fine science. The nurse was so cool.

As usual the reception welcoming. I did not have to wait more then a couple of minutes before I was taken to the dental room. .The technician chatty and explained everything. Dr Cardwell, his first morning back, was professional. I had an anaesthetic which was pain free, and the procedure went extremely smoothly. I left with a new bridge which felt very comfortable in my mouth, and it was all a very stressless experience. Highly recommended.

My first visit was very encouraging as I was treated with ta high level of professionalism and respect. My return visit was equally as rewarding. Very good customer service.

I went to smile for regular clean up and they asked me I should get a full Xray done When I asked for cost they said its a very normal fees, but it was more than the cost of clean up.They also could not finish the clean up in one sitting and asked me to come again and that is separately chargeable. I do not think I will ever revisit the clinic. Sanity wise the clinic was really clean.

Excellent service, all the staff members are very friendly easy to talk and they always give a wonderful warm greeting when you enter the building. They go over and above for the customers. I am so glad I switched and came to Smiles Inc. Thank you Smiles Inc staff.

This was my first appointment and I was very impressed with the detailed attention that I received. Also, the way that Dr. Cardwell explained each step of what to expect. The service was excellent indeed, and I felt very comfortable. I look forward to my next appointment. Thank you very much.

I always have a pleasant experience with my hygienist. She is excellent, especially when there are no problems with my mouth. I don't wish to change her for anything.

I have always hated the dentist. However during my first ever visit with Smiles I've never felt more comfortable. I still don't fully like having to go to the dentist but I'm definitely not as afraid about my procedure to come.

For the brief time I was in the office all interaction with staff was good. It was a first visit and i was a bit put off by how much of a clinic atmosphere it was. Like a hospital. Only because I'm used to smaller, intimate, dentist setting. Will hold further comment for a time when I need to return for longer period and service.

It was a good first visit from the receptionists to my hygenist. She was very thorough and explanatory. I was very comfortable.
