Whenever I've emailed (rather than telephoned) the office with a question or appointment request I've always received a very prompt reply. I also can't praise enough the "personal" touch the office gives;, not the least of which is their dedication to appointment reminders. I'm loathe to admit that I seem to always misplace my appt card moments after receiving it and I am not diligent when it comes to marking my calendar for upcoming appointments, so the phone and email reminders I receive from Roch Eye is almost a necessity for this aging and easily distracted patient.

I have been a patient of Dr. Weingarten for many years. I have lazy eye and only trust Dr. Weingarten to take care of my one good eye and give me peace of mind that all is well. The desk staff is friendly and professional. Dawn, who works on the glasses side of the office is excellent at her job. She expertly helps you pick your new frames and fits them on you when your new lenses arrive. She knows everything there is to ensure a perfect fit! The doctor is lucky to have her on his staff!

Came in for appointments with 2 adults and a 5 yo. Infant was with us in a stroller and the staff was excellent accommodating our family seamlessly as we moved through the exam rooms. There was never a comment of complaint about needing to use a larger room. It is the small things that really are important.

My appointment was for contacts instead I was just given a glasses exam( which I already had and didn’t need) . I I was then told that he did not have time to do it. I did not have time to spend my whole morning an appointment which I didn’t need. In fact the appointment was switched from Wednesday to Friday so he would have time to do it. A simple phone call that morning could have resolve this and I could’ve stayed home or rescheduled. I felt rushed.

I rarely ever write reviews, but every blue moon I make the effort if someone has made a great impression while providing service. Everyone at Rochester Eye Care was very professional, helpful and courteous. Dr. Weingarten was on time calling me back for my appointment. He answered my questions and put me at ease regarding my concerns. The women that work there are all awesome. It’s not too common to see every single employee at an establishment display qualities such as the ones Patti, Tammy, Jodi, Ashley and Dawn displayed. Qualities that make a customer feel valued and welcomed. Truly an encouraging experience!

The 10 rating is for the doctor. I proceeded to look at frames in the glasses area. The lady helping me was very curt and unfriendly. She made me very uncomfortable. I couldn’t wait to leave. In the past, I’ve had very nice ladies assist me. This person acted like I was bothering her. Her answers to questions were also snippy. I will not shop if she is there. It was Tuesday, September 19 at 1 pm. So you can look up who was working that day. 😟

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Weingarten go over 20 years. Every year I see him for a diabetic checkup and vision check. These are both preformed at the same appointment. This year without prior notice at the end of my diabetic exam I was informed that I would have to make an additional appointment if I wanted my vision checked. This is extremely inconvenient as I have to take vacation time from work to see the doctor. Dr. Weingarten does not have evening or weekend appointments. The latest appointment is 4:15.

I have been a patient of Doctor Weingarten’s for over 20 years. I had been seeing him for my optical needs because I was born near sighted and wore glasses or contacts since I was a child. After being a patient of his for a couple years I decided to investigate having Lasik eye surgery. At the time I started looking into having Lasik I was in my 40’s so I was concerned about losing my close vison to see far away. Doctor Weingarten started working with me by trying different contact strengths on both of my eyes. He was knowledgeable, patient, kind, understanding and extremely helpful. I had my surgery in 2004 and I now have mono vision. I see far away in my right eye and up close in my left eye. I have type 2 diabetes and I continue to see Doctor Weingarten every year for my annual diabetic eye checkup. I was just in his office for my exam a couple days ago and he told me everything looked great! It has been 20 years and I still don’t need glasses or contacts anymore to see.

Doc Weingarten has helped me twice when I had eye emergencies. The first time it was a torn retina. He immediately worked me in to the schedule , found the problem and sent me to Bruce Patterson(down the hall) another great Doc who did Laser surgery on my eye within an hour! Second time I had a metal sliver in my eye, I called his office on a Sunday afternoon got his emergency number and then called him. Doc told me to be in his office at 12:45pm Monday! At 1:00 I was walking out of his office with the metal sliver gone! In my opinion that’s the best you can hope for from anyone. Doc Weingarten delivers every time. Rick McNamara

The front desk staff was gracious and helpful (even while juggling several phone calls and in-person patients at one time). Dr. Weingarten was patient and friendly, he listened to my concerns, and didn't rush through the appointment. Honestly can't think of one thing to complain about - first doctor's appointment I've had in a long time that I didn't grumble to my husband on the car ride home!

Yesterday, I was faced with a concerning change in vision....large seaweed-like particles floating in my eye, blocking my view began in the early morning and worsened over several hours. Thankfully, though living an hour & 15 minutes away, I had been referred to Rochester Eye a number of months earlier for a thorough more-routine exam and was quite pleased with Dr. Weingarten and his staff. Unsure if they could see me soon, though doubting my local ER docs would likely have the same vision specific knowledge, I called Rochester Eye Care and was wonderfully-blessed as they re-arranged their schedule to fit me in by noon that day. Dr. Weingarten & staff delivered a thorough exam and explanation of the retinal bleeding I was having, and presented me with paperwork 'in my hand' to make an appointment a.s.a.p., and hopefully follow-up with Associated Retinal Consultants [a couple of blocks away]. My wife drove me to ARC immediately to try and expedite the follow-up, and I was further-blessed , due to Dr. Roman's ARC staff's high-respect for Dr. Weingarten & his staff, that ARC fit me into their busy schedule within an half-hour's time, and through a 2 hr. time slot were able to confirm Dr. Weingarten's findings, and provide for me the right steps [and moreso 'peace of mind'] that my condition should hopefully, steadily improve toward normal within a couple of months at most. I am so glad that we made the 1 hr./15 min. drive to Rochester Eye Care to make these connections and provide reassurance toward healing.

The staff are highly knowledgable about sizing your glasses properly and matching the right pair to your likes and needs. I just love the technical approach. While it's great to let a customer roam freely to choose, sometimes too much freedom can result in dissatisfaction in the end. Ive been coming to Rochester Eye Care for about 8 years now and while it used to be due to their convenient location, relative to where I lived in Rochester, I continue to come (now living about 35 min away) because Dr. Weingarten truly cares about his patients and the support staff are friendly and like family. It is not the most technologically advanced eye care facility, but frankly, everything works and is clean. They follow the CDC guidelines to a "T" and they treat everyone with respect. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else!

Although we love the location of the store and the person who helps fit the glasses, Dawn - I had a very unpleasant encounter with the Doctor. I was surprised that most of the office workers were not wearing masks, but I could deal with that. However, it seemed to me that the Doctor should be wearing a mask in the small examination room, and getting so close during the examination. He was very rude to me when I told him I was not comfortable with him not wearing a mask. He said, Do you want to get an eye exam today or not? He said he would put it on when he got closer, but he didn't. I asked again, and he finally put it on. He did not explain anything during the exam and basically just grunted commands at me. He was rude, unprofessional and because of him, we will look for another service.

I have been going to Dr.Weingarten for 20 years ever since he performed my Lasik surgery, which by the way still provide very good vision without glasses. His staff is very pleasant and efficient and his exams are complete with tests that uncover potential disease problems. Waiting time was minimal; I was seen pretty much at my appointment time. Only one small critique: at one point during my pre-interview (before I saw Dr. W), the tech asked me if I wore glasses. She was looking right at me, and my regular specs were on my face as she spoke. (Maybe she was just tired....?)

All the staff were very cordial and helpful. This was my first appointment with Dr. Weingarten, as my previous ophthalmologist had recently retired, and I was pleased for the most part. My only "issue" was the assembly line-style treatment....moved from room to room for various exams with very minimal chatter from the doctor (no friendly banter, no "getting to know you" as a patient, etc. He did mention that they were short-staffed due to vacations, so maybe that was why my actual exam felt like it was rushed. It seemed to me that the "Which is better, #1 or #2?" bit with the eye chart was very brief and none of the text on the chart was ever totally in focus, but I guess I'll find out when I get my new glasses if there was a method to his having me only read one line of text on one chart.

My family had encouraged me to consult an ophthalmologist for a likely broken blood vessel in my right eye. I'm quite pleased that I visited Rochester Eye Care, as the doctor , Mark Weingarten, and his entire staff demonstrated professionalism, high quality service and expertise. My guess was correct, but the doctor also discovered minor cataract issues which we can deal with in several years. Now I'm comfortable knowing that I have an ophthalmologist I can trust.

When I called to make the appointment for my diabetic eye exam I was also asked if I wanted a regular eye exam, I said yes. When the doc got done with the first exam I asked him about the regular one, he looked down at the paper and said that there was nothing on it about an regular exam. Then he asked me if I wanted glasses, I said "no", then he said "ok then" have a good day. You guys were busy that day but I wish I could have had that exam

Your eye exam was scheduled as a diabetic eye exam. We were not aware you wanted a prescription for glasses until after your eyes were dilated and the exam completed. It is best to have your prescription checked before your eyes are dilated and this is why Dr. Weingarten asked for you to return to have this service performed on a different day.

I inquired when calling to schedule appointment if they see pediatric patients, they said yes so I booked an appt for both my sons. At the appt the doctor and his staff were very impatient with children. At the end of the exam (2hrs later) the Dr ended up giving me a script to see a Pediatric eye Dr. such a waste of time...

We are sorry to hear of your displeasure with your visit. Dr. Weingarten does see patients of all ages. When you booked your appointment for routine eye exams for you kids, you failed to mention that they have strabismus(eye muscle problems) as well as special needs. It also would have been helpful to have old records with them. Dr. Weingarten and his staff spent a great deal of time with them, however, felt they would be best served by a pediatric ophthalmologist.

When I called Dr. Weingarten's office with a bit of what I considered to be an emergency, which was my very ugly bright red eye. They worked me in at the end of the day for an appointment. I very much appreciated that he would see me so quickly, that same day, because I was very concerned. I was reassured to be told that it was a broken blood vessel and not worse. I am sure he has seen this condition 1000 times or more, but I had never had this happen to me, so I appreciated that he took my concern seriously and examined my eye thoroughly. I have total confidence!

As a new patient to this office I can assure you I will not be back again. Having been in the medical field for the last 20 year, ER nurse, I've worked with an abundance of physicians and have never come across anyone with as poor a bedside manner as Dr. Weingarten. He did not introduce himself upon entering the exam room, his H&P of me was nonexistent, he did not share what limited assessment he did do of me, and did not mention whether my rx had changed or not. That being said, the staff was quite friendly and courteous. But, again, I will not return to that office and I would not recommend Dr. Weingarten to friends or family. Respectfully, Kate Decker

We are sorry to hear of your displeasure with your recent visit. You came to the office for a routine vision exam and the prescription for glasses and contacts. Dr. Weingarten is the only doctor at our office, he did the appropriate examination of your eyes and gave you prescriptions for both. He discussed with you his findings and discussed that if you desired to try a different contact lens you would have to pay an additional fitting fee which you elected not to pursue. Dr. Weingarten is an excellent doctor and your criticism of him is out of context with other patient reviews.

I don't do well having my eyes dilated. The doctor in training had trouble putting the drops in because of how much I was blinking. Once in, I had blurred vision in my left eye for awhile. My eyes were dilated up until the time I went to bed (over 5 hours). The next day when I got out of work, my eyes literally hurt the second I step outside in the bright light. One of my coworkers mentioned to me that her eye doctor puts a very small amount of drops in her eyes - due to her the light color of her eyes (like me - I have light green eyes). I found out that both of my lenses in my glasses have scratches. Your staff noticed this and was placing an order the next day to have them replaced free of charge - which I am very happy about!! The other thing I mentioned to the receptionist is how many e-mails and texts I received reminding me of my appointment. One would have been sufficient.

It seemed to me the staff was more friendly when you were located at the medical building. Smaller and less employees. I was in the reception area and their seem to be something going on between two employees. Patients weren't greeting properly when they had an issue with repairs on glasses. Employee seemed to busy to help or say I will be right with you, I'm with other patient right now. My overall impression was ok but not great. In my opinion seems like personalities don't all mix there. Hope there's some improvement the next time I come in.

My employer (Rochester College) changed insurance companies as of Jan. 1, 2015, and coming for my annual eye exam was my first experience with trying to use it. I was grateful to the two women at the front desk who contacted the insurance company to ascertain my coverage. They were very helpful, as was the technician who adjusted my old glasses for me. She did an excellent job, immediately realizing the problem with the fit and correcting it.

I thought I had conjunctivitis and was relieved to find out that my eye looked okay upon Dr. Weingarten's examination. (I guess it turned out to be much ado about nothing, I am sorry about that.) It is an awful time to get sick (holidays between Christmas and New Year's), and so I was doubly appreciative to be able to get help. I had a procedure done by the doctor to test pressure in my eyes, and 3 days later, my right eye still hurts. It feels like it is bruised. He didn't tell me what he was doing, I had to ask, which I don't really mind, but I think it makes the visit better if he tells the patient what procedure he is doing. Also, the doctor never gave me a clear answer on whether my eyes have changed, are they the same as last visit or gotten worse.

I chose to try Dr. Weingarten as my next eye doctor. He was one of three recommended by Blue Cross Network after I gave them MY criteria. I did not want a multi-doctor office and I wanted someone in the Rochester area. I was late and they still got me through in time to get to work on time. I was impressed with the fact that my appointment lasted one hour and it is on my way t work. I will highly suggest that my husband change too. I will have my records transferred.

I was ushered from room to room 3 times for no apparent reason. The Dr had to leave the room 3 times to go get other instruments. The Dr. Seemed like he was in a rush to get me out of there and had no personality. As a new client I was expecting more. The lady who was helping me look for frames had no idea how to search for different color options online. She could barely type. I could have found it in 10 seconds using Google. Not sure I will come back.

I am sorry you were unhappy with your visit. It is not possible to have you come in one room and do everything there since all of the exam equipment is different. I don't understand what more you were expecting from your visit. I identified a problem you were having in your right eye associated with your contact lens wear that had not been previously found. Our opticians do a fine job, sometimes you just need to be patient.

He did explain it to the doctor or student attending and thru that conversation I learned that I have age related macular degeneration but was not told anything about this. I have been coming to your office for almost 19 years now. That should tell you something. The one constant besides Dr. W is Patty, who is an absolute delight. In addition to being great at her job, she's always so cheerful and friendly. I look forward to my yearly visits because of her.

When I made the appointment, they asked if I wanted the 11 or 11:15 and I said the 11 but that I'd be bringing my son during his lunch hour. She said it would be fine and to let the receptionist know it was his lunch hour. I dropped my son off at 10 to 11 while I parked the car. I was up in the waiting room by 11. My son indicated another person came in as he was entering and he signed in right after them, and then a woman came in a few minutes after him. Your office took the woman in before us, and we were not brought back until 11:30!! That is not acceptable. You need to take your patients in the order they come and especially figure out your scheduling so that you don't have 3 different patients coming at the same time - obviously one of them was the 11:15 that I didn't take because no one else came in while we were waiting from 11-11:30. So someone jumped the line and went in before us with the 11:00 appointment. This was very very frustrating and why I gave a low rating.

I would prefer that the staff address their clients with the appropriate honorific or title- i.e. Mrs. or Mr. I sense a growing annoyance in myself when someone 1/3 my age calls me by my first name. I really appreciate it more with my parents; when they are addressed appropriately, they feel respected and their issues taken seriously. It might be a point of discussion among the staff. Does being "friendly" ( i.e. using first names) really translate into being friendly or is it just easier for the person initiating the conversation? Why not err on the side of being a bit formal and letting the person addressed respond with their preference- or just ask them?

Jody was busy Shen I walked in. When she was able to take me back she was friendly. My only complaint, and it is big, is the entire time not one procedure was explained. I was brought back and told where to sit and where to place my chin, where to look, etc, but never did anyone say" we are first going to measure you for contacts, this machine does "this" , then we are going to have the Dr do your exam. Dr Weingarten was professional, but never lead on that he had even read over my chart and never asked about my concerns . I had to ask about the freckle and about my eyes feeling stuck together in the morning. He did not take the time to explain about why dry eyes occur or what to do to help it other than to say just do what you ve been doing. I got better communication from my optometrist. Take the time to explain the procedures and what is being done as you move from station to station and room to room as well as why and what is happening with our.eyes as we grow older. I have bad eyes in my family history. I wouldn't come if I didn't have concerns.

My appt. was for 10:30 and I had a very difficult time seeing--so bad that I was unable to drive and thus sat in the parking lot. I was not able to drive home until a little after 3.I wish I had known this before I came in. I have had this procedure before and have not had a reaction like this before.

We are sorry you reacted to the dilation of your eyes in this manner. Most people do not experience this problem. As you know dilating your eyes was necessary to examine the health of them. We would recommend bringing someone with you next time.

I am VERY disappointed trying to order new lens for my existing glasses. I am on steriods & don't want to invest in new glasses because my prescription will probably change again in the next few months. I am taking a trip to Italy (today, Nov. 4th) & was hoping to have my new lens in the 1 1/2 week you promised. Not only did they not arrive, they were not even going to be at your office today (2 weeks later.) When I called my IMed Insurance supervisor, he called your lab on Halloween and received the promise that my lens would be at your office on Friday (Nov. 1) - which didn't happen. Then I was told that they wouldn't even be in the office on Monday (today). I don't understand! I ended up going to Lens Crafters late on Friday (Nov. 1) where they cut new lens for me in an hour so I can at least see while on my trip. They also promised to re-cut them in a better lens almost for free when I return. I think you have a problem with your lab.

We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with your lens order. Be assured that every effort was made to make your lenses in a timely manner. We did not, however, anticipate the recent changes your Eyemed insurance company made requiring us to send your frame to the lab, which ultimately resulted in the delay. As you know, we did complete the lens order as you requested and gave them to you free of charge, which was a value of over $300.00.

The ladies at the front desk are amazing! Friendly and kind! The woman who helped me with picking out new glasses was awesome I don't have insurance and she helped me find affordable glasses!! My appoinent was on time and the dr was very helpful! It was my first visit and overall one of my favorite eye appointments because if the kind faces!
