The staff and Dr. Contos at Total Vision, Santa Cruz Ave, in Los Gatos, gave me a warm and professional experience. The main thing: The eye exam was perfect. The staff used the most modern equipment to test my eyes and prescription. Dr. Contos has a unique way of testing each eye for proper prescription. Finally, the eyewear specialist was clear (no pun implied) and patient (no pun implied again) to ensure that I got the ideal lens. I got my new primary glasses and work glasses in about a week. My vision feels flawless. Also, I never heard of "work glasses" before. Dr. Cantos explained this new term to me - where the lens doesn't just focus well on a computer screen but for some extra distance around a work table and/or multiple monitors. Nice! Bells and whistles: Follow-up and support from the front office was perfect. As a patriot, I found their large flag pole with the American flag out front encouraging for me as well.

What I enjoyed the most was that this was the first time I had a comprehensive eye exam in years. Dr. Huynh took the time to listen to my concerns about the right eye and spent extra time during a thorough examination. I was relieved to learn I didn't need cataract surgery yet!

Did not receive my prescription after the appointment. I called twice and front desk has promised me they will send it soon both times but still no response I double checked my email, not sure what’s going on. I usually receive my paper prescriptions right away not sure why it has been so difficult here

I have been a patient in this office for over 13-14 years I think. My experience became less pleasant as my original doctor stopped his service at this location. Then I started seeing Dr. George and I was happy with him. This year I happened to see Dr. Kwok. Oh my GOD! I have never seen a doctor as rude and strange! She would not have patience to listen to what I had to say!!!! One time I had to tell her please let me talk so that she would stop talking over me. Then the way she treated the office staff was just beyond me!!! She treated the office folks as if they are her slaves!!! Calling them at least four times from the room for something as small as grabbing a paperwork that she could have totally done it herself. I'm not coming back to see this type of attitude and rudeness for SURE!!!!

The doctor appeared to only want to sell me progressive glasses when I only need readers. I asked her my updated glasses strength like 1.75 or 2.0 and she said she normally doesn’t tell her patients that.

Dr. Kwok is very welcoming and very patient in explaining the issues, which helps me understand situation better. Subsequently, both nurse and Nancy were very friendly in helping me prepare for the visit and later picking up glasses.

After all the years with an optometrist that understood my severe vision impairment, it was very disappointing to meet with a young optometrist that was literally talking out loud to himself about the steps to take in my exam to make sure it was all done correctly. He was obviously educated and qualified, but going through the steps of an exam with no patient connection. I'm disappointed this practice was purchased by a vision company instead of an individual.

Change of management ok, but treat long-time customers differently. When I walked in, I was immediately asked a barrage of questions by the receptionist -- all information which my prior doctor already had on file. An introduction about what's needed to assist transfer of records to the new company or a simple greeting/ acknowledgement that I hadn't been there since the new management -- would have helped. then the first tech didn't know what she was doing. She had to get up multiple times to ask someone in the back room about the machines. And even after that, she had to re-do, and still got one wrong (the one reading the current Rx in existing glasses.) The optometrist caught the error and sent her back to redo it. The optometrist himself seemed good. Likewise the optician was experienced and good. One complaint about the new lenses -- where the lenses were inserted into the frames, they were rimmed with something very hard to get off with soap or the standard Crizal cleaner. These should have been cleaned up by the optician or tech before they were handed to me.

The team at LGVC is better than perfect! They treat me like family, and, of course, Dr. Jim is the very best on the planet. I was happy with my comprehensive eye exam and felt like the staff and optometrists were knowledgeable, thorough, and polite. They took extra cares to keep things covid-safe. While I was in the waiting room prior to my appointment I watched a “Karen” who was very late for her appointment demand to be seen and I was impressed with how the front desk staff handled the misbehavior sternly but also courteously.

The care and service is great every time. Their management of covid-19 issues was very good and still ongoing. Their prices for glasses are pretty high even with the VSP insurance discounts, but the quality is very good.
