I was impressed with the excellent service and care provided. Unlike the big chain brands, this was personal and attentive service. The doctor used state of the art equipment to evaluate my vision and spent the time to show me the images and explain my condition.

Dr. Quackenbush is the best with kids! My son, age 2, got dirt in his eye at his preschool. After attempts to flush it didn't work, we brought him to Dr. Quackenbush and he was able to recognize a corneal abrasion and got the problem taken care of. My kids adore him, and have been playing eye doctor and taking turns being playing Dr. Quackenbush for days after we went to the doctor because they liked him so much.

I always have a good experience at Hixson Eye Care, and this was no exception. I had to wait longer than normal due to what appeared to be an emergency visit. However, this was made up by allowing me to see the first available doctor once my exam began. I was still in and out within an acceptable time frame. I met Alisha who is a welcome addition to the staff. I appreciate the entire staff which gives me confidence by providing support for my eye health instead of just selling glasses. Hixson Eye Care is a true doctor's office that educates while treating my eyes. I certainly appreciate their efforts.

The staff at Hixson Eye Care are absolutely the best! I’ve seen Dr. Quackenbush for several years now, and wouldn’t go anywhere else. He is the first eye doctor who succeeded in fitting me with glasses that I can actually use. I am 64, and have worn glasses for about four years. Dr. Quackenbush is thorough, personable, and l takes time to listen. I have never been disappointed with the care I receive at Hixson Eye Care.

I grew tired of the so-called eye specialists whose main goal was to sell me a new pair of glasses. His knowledge is comforting, and his directions are correct. I had a eye injury and went to a local walk in urgent care clinic on Hixson Pike and was told that I needed to see a specialist immediately. I was sent to a eye Dr who is also on Hixson Pike across from the funeral home but even though this was an emergency they were not seeing new patients and would not treat me as I stood there with a rag covering my left eye. I called Hixson Eye Care just to ask and after explaining to her what had happened she said come in now and we will see you. Even though the eye Dr was preparing to go out of town he still saw me , treated me and gave me his personal phone number in case of an emergency after hours. His staff was wonderful and very professional. I now have a new eye Dr and will always tell my story of how awesome this group is.

I am extremely pleased with the quality of care and knowledge provided by Dr. Quackenbush and staff at Hixson Eye Care. I feel fortunate to have received a consultation from the Chattanooga VA Clinic for an eye examination at Hixson Eye Care. Dr. Quachenbush performed a very thorough eye exam and he explained the details involving my eye condition. Dr. Quachenbush’s knowledge is extensive and his ability to provide optimal glasses and contact prescriptions is far better than other optometrists I’ve encountered in the Chattanooga area. He provided personalized care with a prescription for glasses that I took back to the VA for new glasses. Dr. Quachenbush also provided a prescription for mono vision contacts that I wear daily and can use in all vision situations to include: reading, computers, watching TV, driving, and playing sports. I received superb treatment from the staff as a new patient to aid in scheduling appointments, communications with the doctor, and obtaining new contacts. When I received my VA glasses in the mail, the Hixson Eye Care optical technicians didn’t hesitate in providing a precise fitting of my new frames and they adjusted them for my face. I recommend Hixson Eye Care and Dr. Quackenbush for all your vision needs and especially if you are in the hard-to-fit category for contacts.

I have high anxiety about medical visits. A friend recommended this practice and even though they don’t accept my insurance I decided to make an appointment. It took a few months to get in for a routine eye exam but I was willing to wait. The doctor was very friendly, very thorough and didn’t pressure me to make any certain eyewear purchases. It was such a good visit I told my husband we have found our new eye doctor. I will be scheduling my children for their check ups. I recommend this practice.

Funny name for a doctor, but doctor Quackenbush is the best. If you are looking for a very practical doctor that is not looking only to get your money, he is your man. YOUR comfort, budget, and needs have highest priority when accessing the condition of your eyes and the common associated problems. He then gives you all of your options letting you choose the ones that are most fitting for you. He makes recommendations then lets you decide what is best for you. I'm cheap but I didn't mind paying him his fee because he earned every bit of it. I wish there were more doctors like him!

The Doctor was very through, however I was actually Only there for a Contact Lense visit. Some how it ended up a full optical examination and I had to pay $75.00 for a prescription. I am a 100% Disabled Army Veteran and the VA covers my medical examinations. I was not supposed to pay anything, but in order to get the prescription, I was forced to put up the $75.00. The exam was no different than what I get at the VA in Chattanooga Free of cost. I did not need the type of exam I got, and still have the same problem with out a solution that took me to this optical place in the first place. Evidently the VA messed up and failed to detail why I was setup with an eye apointment at this office in the first place. I do not fault the Optical Office.

I left a good google review from the parking lot just after my appointment there with Dr. Q. Your office seemed near-perfect that day. The phone call with Robert was not painful in the least, and then his upfront diagnostics were swift and efficient. He is intelligent and manages people efficiently and respectfully. Sometimes efficiency quells caring, and this is so not the case. Dr. Q. has developed into the nicest professional (second to Dr. Rhodes, of course!). He was kind, swift but not rushed, efficient, and very intelligent in digesting his findings and telling me exactly where my issues are. He then gave me advice that was direct, pragmatic, and economical. I appreciated having the truth accurately and patiently explained. What a nice guy! The staff was great as well. Great to be under the care of Dr Rhodes. He pays attention to all my illnesses and how that might affect my eyes. Was very pleased under circumstances, to have such a quick appointment! Staff was very nice, and told me exactly what to do upon arrival. I had broken my glasses, needed to be examined, in order to purchase another pair. Everyone was great! I do have questions about my charges...I currently have EyeMed Vision Care... Claim # 105631751600. Member # 11714305701 Provider # 100000025735 I payed out of pocket $490.00. My total should have been $106.00. My invoice from EyeMed is dated 4/13/2020, I have yet to receive a check for the amount I am due. I did tell everyone that this amount was not right and I was being overcharged, even called back 2 days later, and was told by the office that EyeMed didn't know what they were talking about. I was over charged $384.00, which is huge! I have my invoice from EyeMed, which means, you also should have a copy, but yet I've heard from anyone. Also the glasses that I purchased March 31,2020....have already broken... arm is broken, cannot be fixed, it is broken. It was a cheap Childs frame and didn't last a month. Please review my insurance, refund my money, and fix my broken glasses... Please. No one in entire office understood my insurance....Therefore, this is so unnecessary! But, Im the one out $384.00 and have broken glasses, that lasted 1 month.

I love that Hixson Eye Care is a one stop eye center and most issues can be handled in the office. Also it is in a super cute house. Very comfortable setting and it is never really busy so they must know how to properly schedule their patients. I started with Dr. Rhodes and he had to reduce his time in the office and was transferred to Dr Quackenbush and was skeptical due to his apparent age. But very impressed with his patient care and knowledge!

Schedule conflict concerning appointment dates. Was told on phone my appointment was Monday, 11/13/17 @ 3:15 pm. Dr Rhodes indicated my appointment was scheduled for Monday, 11/20/17 @ 3:15 pm. At the time I was seen, I was told it was to late to complete by tests. Dr. Rhodes did the best he could to complete as many test as possible. Not all tests were completed therefore I'd need to come back to complete my tests which would include another office visit at my expense. I do not believe I should have to pay another office visit due to scheduling conflict by office personnel.

Taking 4 kids to any appointment is always a challenge, and you often feel self-conscious about bringing a crew into an office when you know kids are going to be kids. The staff at Hixson Eye Care didn’t make me feel that way at all! They were kind and patient while I took extra time to get us from room to room and didn’t rush me while I got everyone situated. Even nursing my baby didn’t phase the doctor. They got me in and out in less than an hour. I highly recommend them to anyone.

Dr Quackenbush and his assistant were thorough, personable and very kind. The pricing seemed steep IMO. In Maine, the exam and contacts would have cost me $40. Here it was $73 and would have been an additional $60 to change contacts so that was a little shocking. Overall, a great experience.

Also one member seemed to not be very competent during when it came to the pre screening portion of the appointment. I just didn't feel comfortable with the atmosphere of the office and the staff.

StarStarStarStarStar Great Service — 

I have recently moved to the area and found Dr. Rhodes. I was extremely happy with the service. I was immediately greeted by name when I came in the door. The office is clean and well decorated. The nurse was very friendly and Dr. Rhodes is very helpful and informative. I am thankful I have found a new doctor that I can trust and I will be going back for my annual exams.

I've been a patient at four optometrists offices now, including private practices and national chains. None of the others compare in the attention to detail made when reviewing the health of my eyes, or in the effort made to answer my questions. Dr. Rhodes makes the investment in newer technologies to better diagnose ailments, and I feel that my eyes' health and clear vision are truly his top priority when I'm in the exam chair. (A note for those that hate the "puffer," Dr. Rhodes doesn't use one! He opts instead for a more accurate and far less annoying tool - I feel that alone is good enough reason to make your next appointment with Dr. Rhodes' office. Tell them Shannon sent you!)

Each visit to Hixson Eye Care and Dr. Rhodes is such a good experience. He and his staff are excellent and treat me as if I were the only patient that day. What a delightful and very professional group they are!

I have been a patient of Dr. Rhodes for seventeen years. His staff has always been friendly and very efficient. Whenever we have had an emergency situation, he has always been available, Dr. Rhodes explains things test results very clearly.
