My recent appointment with Dr. Rhodes was spec-tacular as usual. Dr. Rhodes is very thorough and always makes me as his patient feel very important, you can feel that he truly cares about his patient(s). He takes time to answer all your questions and never tries to impose his will as to future procedural decisions. I will continue to use Hixson Eye Care even after Dr. Rhodes retires later this year, although I'm sure he will be missed. I am confident Dr. Quackenbush works the same with his patients. The staff at Hixson Eye Care are always professional, courteous, and helpful. I would recommend Hixson Eye Care to anyone looking for good Optometrists.

Being in glasses ever since the 3rd grade, I've seen my fair share of eye doctors and staff. Hixson Eye Care is by far one of, if not the best office we've had the pleasure of going to over the years. The staff is friendly and accommodating and the doctor(s) are always patient and attentive. It truly feels like everyone here cares about you and your individual needs/concerns. If you choose to visit their office (you should) you won't be disappointed!

I have high anxiety about medical visits. A friend recommended this practice and even though they don’t accept my insurance I decided to make an appointment. It took a few months to get in for a routine eye exam but I was willing to wait. The doctor was very friendly, very thorough and didn’t pressure me to make any certain eyewear purchases. It was such a good visit I told my husband we have found our new eye doctor. I will be scheduling my children for their check ups. I recommend this practice.

I see Dr. Quackenbush and he is great. He is so thorough and also so pleasant. I get great glasses there and they always adjust them when needed. On my last visit, Dr. Quackenbush and I decided that it is time for me to have cataract surgery, and they did the referral and got me scheduled to see the surgeon before I left the office. Funny name for a doctor, but doctor Quackenbush is the best. If you are looking for a very practical doctor that is not looking only to get your money, he is your man. YOUR comfort, budget, and needs have highest priority when accessing the condition of your eyes and the common associated problems. He then gives you all of your options letting you choose the ones that are most fitting for you. He makes recommendations then lets you decide what is best for you. I'm cheap but I didn't mind paying him his fee because he earned every bit of it. I wish there were more doctors like him!

The Doctor was very through, however I was actually Only there for a Contact Lense visit. Some how it ended up a full optical examination and I had to pay $75.00 for a prescription. I am a 100% Disabled Army Veteran and the VA covers my medical examinations. I was not supposed to pay anything, but in order to get the prescription, I was forced to put up the $75.00. The exam was no different than what I get at the VA in Chattanooga Free of cost. I did not need the type of exam I got, and still have the same problem with out a solution that took me to this optical place in the first place. Evidently the VA messed up and failed to detail why I was setup with an eye apointment at this office in the first place. I do not fault the Optical Office.

Holly was able to work me in within a 24 hour period. I was greeted warmly and was made to feel at ease. Dr. Quackenbush educated me concerning glaucoma as we completed the first rounds of tests. I left a good google review from the parking lot just after my appointment there with Dr. Q. Your office seemed near-perfect that day. The phone call with Robert was not painful in the least, and then his upfront diagnostics were swift and efficient. He is intelligent and manages people efficiently and respectfully. Sometimes efficiency quells caring, and this is so not the case. Dr. Q. has developed into the nicest professional (second to Dr. Rhodes, of course!). He was kind, swift but not rushed, efficient, and very intelligent in digesting his findings and telling me exactly where my issues are. Was very pleased under circumstances, to have such a quick appointment! Staff was very nice, and told me exactly what to do upon arrival. I had broken my glasses, needed to be examined, in order to purchase another pair. Everyone was great! I do have questions about my charges...I currently have EyeMed Vision Care... Claim # 105631751600. Member # 11714305701 Provider # 100000025735 I payed out of pocket $490.00. My total should have been $106.00. My invoice from EyeMed is dated 4/13/2020, I have yet to receive a check for the amount I am due. I did tell everyone that this amount was not right and I was being overcharged, even called back 2 days later, and was told by the office that EyeMed didn't know what they were talking about. I was over charged $384.00, which is huge! I have my invoice from EyeMed, which means, you also should have a copy, but yet I've heard from anyone. Also the glasses that I purchased March 31,2020....have already broken... arm is broken, cannot be fixed, it is broken. It was a cheap Childs frame and didn't last a month. Please review my insurance, refund my money, and fix my broken glasses... Please. No one in entire office understood my insurance....Therefore, this is so unnecessary! But, Im the one out $384.00 and have broken glasses, that lasted 1 month.

I love that Hixson Eye Care is a one stop eye center and most issues can be handled in the office. Also it is in a super cute house. Very comfortable setting and it is never really busy so they must know how to properly schedule their patients. I visited the practice to order prescription glasses. Stephanie was wonderful! She made me feel like she really cared that I chose the right glasses for both my appearance and my budget. She explained the charges that my insurance didn't cover.

Both doctors are very nice and very professional. They explain all of the tests, share what they see, and answer all questions. The office staff is outstanding. I 100% recommend!
