I was very please with the process and the professionalism of Dr. Heinke's office. At a point I did get a panic attack (Did not realize it was a panic attack until pointed out to me) and Dr Heinke helped me relax and gave me an alternative to get the feedback regarding her findings. I got good information on my eye health, and compliments on daily care that keeps eye, lids, and lashes in good condition. Was offered a slight prescription change with no pressure to get new glasses. People are friendly and efficient. We even had fun. I can't imagine a better experience.

Amazing patient interactions with younger kids. The doctors really took their time to see what would be best for my son considering his light sensitivity, during the exam they really put his comfort first. This was our first time following up outside of our home ophthalmologist and specialists out of Luries, and I have to say we were truly impressed! Highly recommend for adults with kiddos with low vision/blindness for in-between check ups/ glasses. Thank you again, for all your help!

The only complaint that I have is, I sat in that office for two hours for a simple appointment. I like the doctor and I think he does a great job. I understand there was an intern, but for me to be in a doctor office for two hours is not appreciated. I think you should let your patients know if they’re going to be in the office for two hours due to an intern and let them decide if they want to wait.

Dr. Maxwell and Helen were so great with my 4 year old! My older two (13 year old twins) have been going here since they were five. Today I brought my almost 5 year old for his first eye visit. (He needed it for kindergarten this fall.) Helen and Dr. Maxwell were so awesome with him. They were kind, patient and empathetic. They took the time to explain everything to my little guy as they were performing the testing, which put him at ease. I highly recommend both of them to anyone needing eye care for their young or teenage kids!

A lot of miscommunication regarding the appointment. I wasn’t informed prior that eyes would need to be dilated for myself or my daughter which has never been included for myself as a standard eye exam. We were about 20 min early and weren’t taken back until 20 min after appointment time. The Dr. Was very nice however never introduced himself as we were brand new patients. Was told to come back in 2 days for trial pair of contacts and when arrived they asked if someone called to say they were in. I was never told to wait for a call. Only giving a 3 for the doctors kindness and for his thorough care.

Long wait to see the doctor (45 minutes), but worth the wait! Dr Maxwell was incredibly great with my soon to be 5-year old son. He was very personable and easy to talk to. They have a lovely waiting area with toys to entertain the kids for the wait. All the staff we interacted with were very caring and friendly.

Family Eye Care of Woodstock is a great practice with friendly, knowledgeable, and professional staff. Helen has done a great job explaining every minute little detail throughout the initial exam, while Dr. Heinke gave me a very thorough detailed exam, patiently answering all my questions along the way. I was very pleased with the smooth process from being greeted, examined, having my glasses adjusted, to checking out with a clear idea of insurance benefits (or lack thereof). I have spent over 5 years dealing with dry eye syndrome and a number of issues related to it. I have gone to several ophthalmologists and an optometrist prior to seeing Dr. Heinke. It is always a good experience. What is most wonderful for me is that Jessica always is willing to explain what she is doing during the exam, what she is seeing and how it is important. I learn so much and I believe I can take better care of my eyes because of her narration. BTW Jessica asked me to buy "Acuicyn" spray online and use it between now and our follow up appt. But I could not find it. So I got OCuSOFT HypoChlor instead. I believe it has the same active ingredients.

They took the time to explain every test they were doing, why it was important, what my results meant, and showed me pictures of my vision issues compared to normal/abnormal findings. Dear Dr. Heinke, 9-22-21 You make ‘going to the optometrist’ tolerable. The majority of people that I know HATE going to the dentist. I Like going to the dentist, and intensely Dislike going to the optometrist. Thank You for being your professional, reassuring, knowledgeable, wonderful self. Today I had an appointment with you, and was in the machine room getting my eyes tested for various things when Helen asked me if I knew that the appointment wasn’t with you. No. Nobody told me. No worries, she said: a lot of research was done before finally selecting this highly qualified optometrist. When I went into the exam, he did indeed appear to be a truly nice and highly qualified man. The intern there also seemed to be very nice. The intern started the exam, and I was hoping as we progressed to the lens in front of my dilated eyes, looking for any signs of trouble, that it would be the experienced person looking for any signs of trouble. After all, I’ve got significant challenges/potential for challenges in my eyes, am getting older, have a bit of anxiety about having my eyes looked at, and it would be fine to have the newer person ‘check the tire pressure’ but I’d rather the experienced person do the detailed work (at least first, and then have the intern look). But no, the intern conducted the entire exam, while the highly qualified optometrist sat in front of the computer, logging in information and looking at the results of my previous tests. When I got home, my son asked how it went and I told him how frustrated/upset I was, and why. He said he had the same experience: no one told him in advance, and similar story. Dr. Heinke, I am upset for two reasons: 1. That I was not told in advance that it wouldn’t be you. 2. That with a patient with non-typical eyes & etc, the experienced optometrist didn’t examine my eyes at all – it was all left in the hands of a very nice person without as much experience. I am very happy with the exam and the staff at Family Eye Care of Woodstock. I struggle with the price of glasses. I ordered new lenses for my existing frames and my bill was still over $300 after insurance. In the future I will likely come back for my annual exam but, buy my glasses elsewhere.

A visit to see Dr. Heinke for my eye care needs is always a very positive experience. Her staff had contacted me a few days prior to my appointment to offer me an earlier time slot, which was very much appreciated although my schedule did not allow me to accept it. On the day of my appointment I actually got in a few minutes early! That was a welcomed surprise when most health care professionals run at least a few minutes to an hour late! Dr. Heinke took the time, as always, to inquire about overall health and any pertinent issues, which lends important context/insights to the doctor-patient relationship and treatment process. She gives you her undivided attention and never rushes. I was so surprised about the diagnosis; I guess overwhelmed is a better word, I couldn't focus on the information presented. It was displayed and explained well, but perhaps a handout on the whole diagnosis and possible resolutions would be nice to review following the appt. As far as the cost involved, I didn't ask about payment plans because I foresee a cash payment, but that was something I might have thought to ask about anyway to see if a plan is actually possible. It was nice to have the reception staff go ahead and schedule the necessary "pre-op" appt for me while I was checking out. That puts a plan in place and gives me some direction with regard to time off requests at work and planning around holidays. Thanks so much, everyone! Best regards, Laurel

I was not a fan of the woman who had to take the pictures of my son's eyes. She was rather rude and not patient. My son is 3. He doesn't just sit still when told to do so and her saying "you need to sit still, he can do it himself". Her ton and attitude definitely conveyed she had no patience or tolerance for small children. I did like the eye dr though she was patient and tried to do her best with the situation.

I was not happy that the appointment took 1 hour and 45 minutes. I was not prepared to be there that long and was unable to accomplish other errands that I had planned that afternoon. I did not know ahead of time that my eyes would be dilated. I might not have made the appointment that day had I known that. The office staff seemed rather disorganized maybe because they were trying to handle too many patients at once. However, I have noticed some disorganization previously regarding appointments, insurance details, and billing.

The lady who did the pretest was not super kid-friendly and seemed impatient when my daughter did not do the test accurately (being her first time I would assume some issues and more kindness). All staff were very nice & helpful. I wish I could've chosen frames before dilation. Couldn't see very well & prices, not at all. I wonder if I should've taken my lens Rx elsewhere to save money. A bit shocked at price of glasses and could only have receptionist read invoice to me, so did not really get to see details as to what cost what. Perhaps there were other options that would've saved money. No options were discussed.

Very professional staff and the doctor was great. I would suggest one thing and that is if you know the patient needs glasses give them the option to pick out frames before you dialate their eyes. I am a little concerned that i picked a good frame for me because i couldn't see very well when I was picking out my frames because of my eyes being dialated. Neither I nor my child will return to this practice. The staff was rushed and impatient. The equipment used in the first room smelled nasty and it looked greasy. I asked the woman who brought me into the room to change the paper on one machine, and she seemed annoyed. She did some testing on my eyes, but she didn't introduce herself and she never explained what the tests were nor what the results were. Later, I had to interrupt the doctor from a conversation in the waiting area so that she could finish my eye exam. I felt very uncomfortable and poorly treated.

I arrived at 2:00 and left at 4:30. And a gentleman before me was there when I arrived and still was there when I left. I've never had so much waiting between testing with the machines, waiting for Dr. Heinke, waiting to have frames fit (and I had already picked out the frames), waiting to get my present glasses tightened, waiting to pay and make another appt. and I've never had to have my eyes dilated twice for one appointment. There was nothing extra that was done for this appointment and that's never taken more than one hour. I was very disappointed. And the gentleman before me was unbelievably patient!! He was certainly more of a gentleman than I was!!

There was an automatic assumption that I'd be purchasing new glasses without any discussion. The person who assisted me with this didn't explain much and disappeared for 20 minutes to check on the insurance etc. I was then called up and given a bill for something I hadn't agreed to buy or given the price for. The dr was great, I just feel that being there for almost 90 minutes was a long time. I was there for an exam, not to purchase new glasses.

Due to a medical concern from my physician, Dr Heinke and staff responded to see me in Nov '14, ahead a scheduled Jan '15 appointment. In addition to an exam, they ran two different scans so results could be forwarded in a timely manner to my physician and also to my neurologist. I was billed through my health insurance rather than my vision insurance without a proper understanding. I was supposed to get a phone call back explaining why, but no one ever called back. Was seemed rush purchasing my frames. They used to give a 4 screen split shot to show different frames on you. Wasn't even given that option. Next time I won't schedule my appointment so close to lunch. Seemed like I was an inconvenience to them.

Dr Heinke is very thorough and explained everything to me in very easy-to-understand terms. She listened to my issues and did some extra tests to determine the cause of my issues. I only wish my other doctors could work with the same thoughtfulness and professionalism.

Dr. Heinke is an outstanding eye doctor. She's pleasant, attentive, & explains everything. She has caught several problems with me & my family that have gone unnoticed by other eye doctors. She's awesome!

Dr. Heinke was very thorough and I feel very well taken care of. The glasses area in the waiting room seems exposed, but I don't know how this could be remedied, as it would need another room with adequate space.
