Dr. Pretel is an excellent and gentle Periodontist. I had a faulty molar which needed to be pulled and replaced with an implant. I am very anxious when it comes to any dental procedures, but Dr. Pretel has a calm demeanor and performed the extraction, bone graft and post implant without any pain. His work is impeccable and I feel very lucky that such a professional and talented doctor is available in the Sac Metro area. Furthermore, the office is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Professional, knowledgeable, gentle, respectful, explicit directions on how to care for your teeth. You feel comfortable to ask questions. You don't feel put down that you don't know how or you don't take good care of your teeth. My teeth and gum health improved considerably since I've started to be treated by Capitol Periodontal Group.

Monday Feb 3 was my first visit to CPG. I had been reluctant to come to the office for two reasons: cost and discomfort. Finally, I got brave enough to call and make the appointment to get some help with my dental issues. When I arrived my first impression of the office was wow this looks like a very professional office and the staff was very welcoming. My paperwork was ready when I arrived and I quickly filled it out with ease. I didn't wait long to be called back and the dental assistant was pleasant. Once the Dr. came in he examined my mouth...did some poking around...he was apologetic about some deep pokes but they had to be done to get measurements. He showed me a model of what was going on in my gums...he explained why I couldn't clean those areas and the results of what was going on. He explained the surgery procedure and I was emotional...he let me know this is correctable and the best thing for me. I didn't feel like he was trying to sell me something I didn't need...he was truly giving me the exact details of what I needed to correct my problems and have a healthy gums. Although nervous I felt good about moving forward with the procedure. I met up with the billing rep and she gave me the exact run down of my cost. It was all printed out and on paper for me to view. She gave me the payment options to prepare me for my surgery visit. I loved having the option of paying in full (with a discount) or paying in 4 payments. Allowing patients to have options shows that a dental practice really cares about its patients. Dental procedures are not cheap. Giving payment options is good dental and business practice.

My recent cleaning was the first since a procedure to build up bone material. I feel that Natalie did a good job and did give me suggestions for better oral care. My bill was considerably higher than anticipated and I was surprised that I did not receive an itemized billing statement so I can see the charges. I would appreciate seeing the specific charges for services rendered.

Dr Wu is excellent. She explains everything is very thorough and caring. Unfortunately one of my implants came loose while she was exposing the implants (after 6 months). She had warned me that due to the loss of jawbone due to resorption of the roots on my teeth, that this was a possibility. I had two implants and the plan now is to put two crown on the remaining implant and she is actually refunding me for the second implant that came loose. This shows me a professional, caring dental team. Thank you, Dr. Wu.

I left my initial appointment angry. I had called twice to confirm that your office took my insurance. Your person got back to me and assured me you would AND that there would be no co payment. I had wanted to avoid a situation that I had had the last time I came i a couple of years ago. I had made the effort to come in and then at the end of the appointment the financial gal told me my insurance did not cover my treatment plan. I could not afford the procedure on my own. This time My appoint was at 8:00AM which I drove in from Grass Valley- in the rain i might add. All was fine with your staff... very friendly and competent. When I went in to confirm the payment structure your very deadpan staff told me I had a $70 co pay and my insurance would "probably not cover" my $3300 plus procedure. When I told her I had called to confirm that my insurance would cover and was assured that it would she got a bit huffy and told me that there was no way they could tell me this as they did not know my treatment plan. so is she calling me a liar?? I told her I could not afford this treatment without insurance and she said someone would get back to me in several weeks but again " your insurance probably won't approve it". it is unclear whether you will bill me for the co pay... which I will refuse to pay. I am in limbo now waiting to hear from you. I am totally put out that your staff may have given me the wrong information and I yet again schlepped into your office after having tried to avoid such effort.

My follow up visit this week on 1/15 with Janet was great. She was warm, kind, thoughtful and informative. I truly appreciated her care and concern. On the other hand, my implant procedure on 1/8 was not a pleasant experience. The two people assisting Dr. Pretel did not make me feel comfortable or supported during the treatment. I believe one of the dental assistant was being trained. The focus Seemed to be on the trainer and not on me “the patient”. It made my experience very uncomfortable. I also had a lot of pain and nausea the following 2 days after the procedure. No one from the Roseville office called to follow up and check on how I was doing after the procedure. This experiment was a far different than the one I had in the Sacramento office while having my tooth extracted and bone graft. The assistant in Sacramento was warm, kind, & thoughtful. He sat right next to me the entire time and explained what was happening and gave me the support I needed to make it a positive experience. I was hopeful that I would have received the same treatment at the Roseville office. Unfortunately, this was not the case and it made for a negative experience.

My very first periodontal experience I had was at this office and I was very pleased. The staff were professional and polite. They explained everything in detail from the dentist all the way to the financial representative. My only recommendation is to have a wheelchair available for patients still under medication/sedation when they leave the office.

Dr. Wu and her team are excellent! They are knowledgeable, effective, efficient, provide excellent dental service and straight-forward in their billing. The dental implants Dr. Wu installed for me were all relatively painless and successful. I love that they walk me thru the cost of the procedures before the work is done -- for the patient this helps reduce the number of billing surprises.

I was quoted a price based on a 2-hour procedure and the possibility of having to do additional work on my gums. My procedure was completed in 1-hour and the additional work on my gums was not necessary. I have requested my treatment be reviewed and I have not heard back. I work in a similar environment where pricing/costs are driven by a scope of work, therefore I believe I am on solid ground.

I have been a patient here for about a year and a half. Everyone is always very friendly. Dr. Wu is an excellent periodontist. I have had two different procedures and have not had a bit of problems afterward. About 20 years ago I was told I needed this tissue graft at a different place, I practically ran out of the office with my "bib" still on and never went back. After a previous positive procedure with Dr. Wu I decided I would go ahead and have it done. I trust her to do any oral surgery needed. She always seem very relaxed and puts my mind at ease. I highly recommend this office.

I went to Capitol Periodontal for a second opinion. Their name was given to me by a neighbor who had work done by them. Finding their office was simple and I did choose the Roseville office, because again it was referred to me. I met with Dr. Nash who put me right at ease with his sense of humor. They did not do any unnecessary imaging or photos. Their focus was on the area of concern. This is a farily big contrast to how I was treated at a periodontal group in El Dorado Hills. Dr. Nash carefully explained the current condition of the area of concern, answered all my questions and put my mind at ease. The staff I interacted with were all very welcoming and supportive. Their entire office felt very relaxed and comfortable. I have chosen to go forward with them for the work that needs to be done in my mouth. I’m grateful I found them. If you are in need of a periodontist, I would highly recommend a visit to this group.

I was very disappointed to be told that you no longer accept insurance payments from Principal. When I first came in on 6-12-18 I was given a treatment case statement that showed 50% of my implant would be covered by Principal. This is one of the reasons that I came to Capitol Periodontal Group instead of Jonathan C. Szymanowski. DMD. This is who my dentist recommended. My point is that when I first came in I was told that $1,047.50 would be paid by Principal. Now after I have had the extraction and ridge preservation, I am told that you will not bill Principal for the implant. It bothers me in that I am now in the middle of the procedures and the items that were given to me on 6-12-18 have changed. I was nervous coming in and unsure what my problem was. I was told by my primary dentist that Dr Towfigi is a great person and a fantastic surgeon. I need a treatment I have never had done before. Every step of the procedure was explained in detail and I was assured that I would not experience any pain nor would I be a nervous wreck before or during the procedure. He told me I would receive a premed to calm me and Also the correct antibiotics. I am dentally phobic and Dr Twofigi convinced me all would be perfectly safe and not to worry or fear the procedure.

The new dentists do not form any type of relationship with the client. They are not familiar with my medial history and normally do not even check the client after a routine cleaning. They have turned the place into a assembly line shop. That is not ok given the premium cost that is charged, and that the charge include an exam by the doctor. The fee structure has increased and the level of service has declined over the last two years. I really like my hygienist Natalie. She is the only reason I am still loyal. With all that I have mentioned I am asking friends for referrals to find a new periodontist.

If my bones need help, let's take another test to see if I really need that horrid Fosamax which makes me fee ill. I'll be seeing my doctor later this month and will ask.

This recent visit was not a stellar experience. I felt there was some lack of clear communication on what the plan was for me that day. I had been told last time I was in that this visit I would have implant post uncovered & perhaps a tissue graft if needed. The hygienist prepped me for that procedure with application of a topical anesthetic, but then there was some question about what to be done. Ended up having another X-ray, and Dr. Nath said I needed a tissue graft & I would have to return another day for this & to uncover the implant post. An impression had to be made of my palate. This was the first time this had been mentioned to me as a possibility. Palate impression had to be done twice - 1st one didn't work. Then told I needed to return in next couple of weeks for the procedure. I understand that perhaps Dr. Nath didn't know what the status would be for procedure, and opted to maximize outcome, but I was ready to have it done there & at that time. Had scheduled around it, taken time off, etc. Also, hoping that I really did need a tissue graft - how would I know if I had 'thin tissue covering implant" - another $1300. Had to wait 20 minutes to meet with Mindy to discuss payment & schedule next appnts. Only one choice of time on date needed to return - inconvenient time for me, but I had to take it. Same with recheck appnt a few weeks later - only one very late afternoon time available. I understand some of these bumps in the road unavoidable, but left feeling like I was 'just another number', which has not happened with that office in the past. It just felt a bit unorganized & unsettling. Usually not one to complain, but the last experience did not meet my expectations for sure & now more waiting & more $$$ to achieve results. And more to come since I need a second implant.....

I previously posted a comment on your website, but may have failed to let you know who it came from! I should have used the patient portal! Thank you to Tammy, Mendy, Janet, and Dr. Pretel for their care and thoughtfulness before and during my surgery as I was very nervous and hesitant. (Anxiety is one of my "troubles"). All of you mentioned above I believe tried your best to help me through my experience. I would say that the other assistants I saw would be better with explanations of after care. I felt that Dr. Pretel was disappointed in my aftercare of my teeth - that I did not clean properly. I was not instructed how much I could brush and clean those teeth in my 4 week appt. and was scared I would "mess up" the new gum tissue. If anything that is the only issue for improvement I would ask for.

My procedure went perfectly and they took good care of me. The procedure went extremely smoothly in the office and I was apprehensive because it was the first one I have had. I stayed numb, it only lasted 40 minutes, I didn't have a great deal of pain as I recovered that evening or the next day. I only used an ice pack and 1 of the Prescribed Norco that evening.

I was very pleased with the attention I received at your office but I am very concerned about the fact that my X-rays were not sent to this office. There is decay under some of my crowns and if I have the surgery and wait three months for them to heal then I might be dealing with root canals. I do not want to take that chance. I want to keep my teeth. There are other concerns and I'm not sure what to do. I do not want dentures!!!!!!! I've had a lot of bad experiences with dentist and I've spent my entire savings on that. A crown done and then three months later an extraction of that crown. Please, just help me to get the best treatment possible and do not ask me to have my teeth extracted. I'd like to know why the doctor only did an exam on one quadrant of my mouth. Dr. Lee expressed concern about my entire mouth. This may not be a big concern for most of your patients but it is HUGE for me. I need to know what to do and where to go from here. I'm disappointed in Dr. Lee for not following through like he promised. Not sending the x-rays after four weeks is just not acceptable especially when I asked them many times to please do so.

I was in such pain from a fractured molar when I came in. Everyone was so kind and helpful. Terry (RDA) put me at ease and explained everything to me very clearly. Dr Pretel was great and explained each step of the procedure as he was carrying it out, which was not only helpful and comforting, it was informative! It was obvious that both Dr Pretel and Terry could see how much pain I was in and they were both eager to do what was needed then and there to help me. And Mendy explained the financial end clearly and gave me my payment options, which was very nice. I really appreciate Dr Pretel (and Terry) taking the time to get that tooth out of my mouth the same day I came in. All I can say is I love my second chance to have all my teeth. After 20+ years in chronic pain. the Meds destroyed over 1/2 of my root bone connection. Root canal and crowns fell out. Dr Pratel and Dr Light together restored my teeth to original feeling and functional eating. Thank you.

This was my first periodontal experience so I can't do a comparison for you. What I can tell you is that I was very nervous about the work I was having done. I won't be nervous again if I need more work in the future. The staff at Capitol Periodontal are wonderful! They are patient and kind. They answer every question you can think of. Throughout the entire process Dr. Trowfighi made sure I was comfortable and did not feel any pain. The injections were painless. I didn't even know he had pulled my tooth until I realized when I moved my tongue that it was gone! They are all wonderful and professional!

I think Julie does an outstanding job and have tried to schedule my appointments with her. She takes the time to educate you on what you could be doing better and praise you when improvements have been accomplished. On the other hand, I am very disappointed in Dr. Naff(sp). He worked on me a year and a half ago and restored bone on only one side of the tooth and now it appears I will have to have more work done on the same area which should have been handled originally. How do you handle a failure like this?

I was very disappointed and scared to death after my visit! There were no options given to me except the oral surgery and animal bone placed in my mouth for my cost of $8,000 after insurance. The dentist Dr. Wu was very rude and made me feel that I was so negligent. I was referred by my dentist due to a time constriction. He was able to get my treatment done and I payed less then $500.00 for all my services without oral surgery or animal bone put in my mouth! I will never refer anyone to your business due to the non-option way you do business and the rude Dr. I experienced dealing with.

Professional, efficient, detail oriented.The patient is informed before the procedure and there are quite a few phone calls and e-mails to confirm. However, there is no follow up call to check on the patient post-op. My vet's office calls me after my cat has a cleaning; so this would be a nice addendum. Decrease the number of contacts beforehand and add one after. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

The first visit for my tooth extraction was acceptable. The follow up was mediocre. Infected tooth, the antibiotic prescribe was not enough. I had to call the weekend on call dentist for a 2nd prescription. Nobody called to inquire about how things were going. The app for taking the sutures was terrible. The woman was unkind, and left me with a mouth full of blood. This last visit was much better. The technician was kind, professional, and competent. What a change for the better. The ratings that follow apply ONLY to the last visit, to assess the progression of the bone graft.

My dental issue could only be resolved with Lazer surgery and bone graft material. It was expensive but if I can keep my two upper front teeth then it will be worth it. The surgery and bone graft part was easier than a root canal procedure but the follow-up with liquid and mushy diets took more time but it went well. I have to wait for 3 months before I start the next procedure and then I will have a better understanding if this was really successful. So far it has gone well. The dentist and his assistant were very good and professional.

The Capitol Periodontal Group is a delightful collection of people, from the staff to the dentists. They clearly have my interests in mind. For example, the finance person (Joyce) suggested a change in my state insurance plan. I made the change the following year and it has saved me thousands of dollars in dental costs. Another example is Dr. Hassan Dezham. He is not only an excellent and very experienced dentist, but he has a *personality*. He speaks clearly (fairly rare among non-native English speakers), is happy to explain things, and just generally conveys a happiness that is contagious. In Dr. Dezham's mind, he carries the best solution for my health, of course, but *also* to save me money. As an example, within the last year I pushed strongly for an implant to solve a particular issue. He showed me another way that accomplished the same goal but cost me a lot less. Yet, he himself would have made much more money if we had gone with the implant. He could easily have accepted my desire to do it that way. If you are looking for a world class clinic, I encourage you to check out the Capitol Periodontal Group.

I was disappointed. The appointment was scheduled to coordinate with Dr Chen's schedule - he was not there. Further the point of the visit was to have ultrasound to an irritated and inflamed area - the ultrasound was not available and therefore not used. The visit was delayed in initiation and seemed to be cut short as the next patient was scheduled - but was delayed in arriving. I was awake during the treatment and asked, when it was clear that the visit was ending - when my upper teeth would be cleaned. The response was that they had been done and that my bottom teeth needed the attention. My impression is that time ran out. I do not believe that I received the treatment that was agreed upon and this has had a nagging recollection as well as lingering concerns about my periodontal status. Sorry for the delay in communicating this.....I think that you should know my perception of the care that I received during my last visit. I want to optimize the results from Dr Chen's care. I believe that the care that I received and the 6 month interval for my scheduled follow up visit will not achieve this. Thank you for your time Phyllis Harr

Dr. Wu is great! However her dental assistant (forgot her name) is another story. My first time there for consultation she came into the financial counsellor office asking me out loud without practising HIPAA saying "Sorry I forgot to ask you what kind of medication is Serax in your file? I had to explain to her in front of the financial counsellor and receptionot area with other people around it's an anxiety medication and help me sleep. Then on the day of my periodontal procedure on Thurs, Dec 8, after she knew where I work (Kaiser) and department I am working, she wants to ask me about a billing issue for her daughter. I said "sure" but she didn't get to ask me right away but AFTER my procedure!! I was still in daze with numbness and soreness in my mouth and there she is asking me!! And she talks too much...come on even when Dr. Wu was trying to stich my gums...she just stood there talking about her son's Christmas. Blah blah blah... I can tell that Dr. Wu and her assistant prefers to focus on my procedure instead of hearing her personal conversation. Yesterday, Dec 15th I came back for a re-check and the guy, Terry I think that's his name who removed my sutures was also a bit awkward. Overall, my experience is not comfortable with the DAS but Dr. Wu is awesome!

Dental Hygienist did a great job examining my teeth and gum condition, scaling my teeth around and below the gum line, polishing my teeth and keeping me informed about what she discovered regarding the current status of my dental health as she completed each task. She also updated my medical records and related medical exam information, i.e.; blood pressure, current A1c level, medication changes, etc. for file. She also showed me the areas around my teeth that needed addition attention each day during home cleaning process. Very professional and excellent attention to details regarding improving future dental health care procedures to follow. She scheduled my next appointment at a day and time convenient for me. My teeth and gums felt good and refreshed after the cleaning.

Overall Dr. Wu and the staff have been nothing less than excellent. They are all very professional and I feel that I am certainly in good hands. My only issue or disappointment however is if I had known in the beginning that the implant process was going to end up being extended from the original six month to the present nine month process I would have either chosen the alternative bridge or possibly delayed the implant procedure to begin after August. Although the extended time duration is certainly not the fault of either Dr. Wu or any of her staff, my only option as of this date would be cancel my scheduled plans.

I would suggest three things: 1. Have specific instructions for the day of the procedure, i.e., ice packs on area for 15 minutes, off 15 minutes, until bedtime. Motrin (or other pain med) every 4-6 hours for the first 24 hours. Clarify what a patient can have to eat during the first three days. I went on line and the "whatever can be put into a blender is ideal" seems to be the word for word instructions many doctors use. Examples of foods to put in the blender would be helpful. 2. Written instructions given at the followup appointment (a week post surgery) would be helpful. By just telling a patient what to do, the patient does,t have anything in writing to refer to after the appointment.

The staff and Dr. Wu at the Roseville location have been so great. I had a bad experience with a staff member at the Folsom location several years ago and did not want to go back to that location even though I live in Folsom and it is much more convenient for me. Dr. Wu did an excellent job of preparing me for my first gum graft so I knew what to expect and what options were best for me. The Folsom location never said it was an option to have the procedure done without sedation. When Dr. Wu said a gum graft is much like getting a filling and that the most pain I would feel was the shots, it really put my mind at ease. I had two gum grafts done without sedation and it really was not a big deal. I didn't even need the pain medication afterwards. I wish the staff at the Folsom location had explained it that way in the first place. The way the staff at the Folsom location explained the procedure made it sound so much worse and gave me a great deal of anxiety.

Also, upon initially calling on the phone for my appointment, the entire staff was courteous and welcoming.
