I am so comfortable and actually look forward to my visit's with this clinic. I love Dr. Merryman. She is very professional, yet interacts well with her patients. I will actually wait for an opening in her schedule, so I can be seen by her. The staff is also great. I recommend everyone who asks me for a referral to this office!

The desk staff and doctor were great. Doc even got my 5 yr old to take dilation drops! No chance my son would have done it for me. Clean and modern decor, comfortable waiting room with a separate playroom for kids. Doc was clear and concise, very down to earth. I would highly recommend.

Dr. Arbaugh and front staff at the Falcon location are always amazing. The person who helped fit me for glasses was super helpful and told me which ones she thought would fit my face best and Dr Arbaugh was awesome in finding me a pair of contacts that I could actually wear. The service was amazing! Everyone was so nice and friendly. Dr. Merryman was so sweet, and she did everything with my best intentions in mind. Even the office was professional, fancy, and clean. They even had a small area for kids play in private, so they wouldnt "disturb" other clients. I will definitely come back and refer my family and friends!

Alpine Vision and Dr Merryman are awesome! I had been going to Dr Merryman since I was in 7th grade or so, (10-15 years?) and have always liked her. She moved to this practice and I decided to come to see her again after I had a bad experience with an new eye doctor close to were I live. Dr Merryman "cleaned up" all that the new doctor had messed up with my prescription, and also explained everything to me. The rest of the staff was extremely friendly and went above and beyond to help me out with insurance and financial troubles. They definitely took care of me! I don't care how far they are from where I live, I am willing to drive 100+ miles to come see this great team of eye experts again.

They always explain everything in detail and the ladies in the front office are always so helpful when it comes to picking out my new glasses. Alpine Vision has been our vision care specialists for over 10 years. We have been very happy with the quality of care and the exceptional staff. We have vision issues in our family; therefore, we prefer to have our exams with the same experienced doctors year after year monitoring our eyes. You can go to cheaper optical houses, but we choose Alpine Vision, because we want the best care when it comes to our vision.

I was pleasantly surprised with my visit to your office. The doctor was awesome. And the majority of the staff were friendly and helpful. I must say, I did feel a little rushed out by a lady who appeared to be the office manager or something like it. She asked the lady helping me if she was almost done and kinda made it a little uncomfortable for me. But overall, the visit was great.

We were first time patients on Monday. My 7 year old got foam stuck on her eye. The staff was incredibly nice. The lady on the phone was great, and everybody greeted us so kindly when we walked inside. The doctor got the piece out quickly, and my daughter isn't scared to go back because he was patient and gentle. Everything was explained well, and the staff was so sweet. I'll be going back to get glasses for myself.

This was a very confusing visit for me. I just needed to get new contacts with my new prescription. This time I was being offered 3 types of contact lenses and I don't know why. The person helping me didn't explain why there were 3 options very clearly. I just wanted the doctor to pick what was best for my needs. Also, the charge for "contact fitting" is outrageous. I don't know why that costs so much and it wasn't explained to me. They also didn't give a receipt of my charges or my prescription.

My experience was very favorable and pleasant. Staff was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because we had to wait 15-20 minutes past our appointment time to be seen. We pre-filled out our paperwork and made sure we were there on time. Appointment was in the morning as we had other errands/appointments that day, so having to wait was a little inconvenient.

It seems like sometimes my eyes are dilated and sometimes they are not. When I schedule my appointment I would like to know if dilation is expected because then I can plan accordingly. This particular appointment was early in the day and I could not afford to have dilated eyes the rest of the day so I opted to come back for this part of my exam. If I had known earlier, I would have scheduled an appointment late in the day. The outcome: I had to come back another day. It's just not efficient use of time for the staff or for me. Other than this inconvenience, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the doctors are excellent.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. They are willing to take quality time with you and we're very helpful and supportive in selecting the right frames for my glasses. Dr. A did a through job on my exam and was friendly and willing to listen and answer questions. I felt quite comfortable as a first timer in this office (the one on Academy). Cost was a little more than I anticipated but feel the service and quality was worth it.

It was a good visit, and the it was also my wife's first visit to an optometrist. We had to wait just short of 30 minutes past our appointment, but other than that it was a great visit. I refuse to go anywhere else for my eye care needs. And other than a little less selection in glasses compared to other places I would say Alpine is better in every other way.

I have great faith in Dr. Reuter's skill to take care of my vision. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and glaucoma. During the three years he has been caring for my eyes, my fibromyalgia has remained stable and my glaucoma has been reduced. The staff has been patient with my nervousness and taken time to wait when I needed a minute to settle down. Dr. Reuter has a gentle sense of humor which always makes my visits less stressful and more pleasant. I leave my appointments feeling relieved and happy. I recommend this

I brought my 95 year old grandmother in and they kept doing tests that she was not capable of doing and she was getting very frustrated. The price of glasses were VERY expensive as well. Especially for a senior on a fixed budget.

Sorry you didn't have a great experience. In order to perform a proper exam, we must at least attempt many of these tests. Not doing so would a failure on our part to give your Grandmother the best possible care she deserves. As for the price of glasses, complete frame and lens packages start at just $99. You can always pay less, but you will sacrifice quality.

Excellent experience. I am writing in regards to the new Windsor facility. I received a same day appointment. The staff and Dr were very nice and friendly. The facility is brand new and the equipment appears to be top notch. The Dr was very knowledgeable and handled my normally complex prescription with ease. My contacts and glasses were ordered the same day. As well as, he gave me sample contacts to use for the time being. I highly recommend Alpine Vision. TommyQ

Everyone was so nice and helpful. The Doctor understood my needs. The only thing during the visit is that when I was checking out to order my contacts the receptionist kept trying to sell me glasses. I had asked the dr if I needed to get a back up pair and he said I didn't have to. The girl up front would not stop trying to sell them to me when I advised her what the doctor said. I am not ready to buy glasses and if I wanted I would buy them or ask about them. If I was a new patient to their office this knowledge would be helpful but I have been going to htis office for years and every year it is a push for me to buy glasses. This is the only complaint I have. Everything else was wonderful and I will still be a customer for Alpine Vison.

I was told they took my insurance on the phone, it wasn't until after the exam, picking out glasses, and already an hour and a half into the appointment, I was told they did NOT accept my insurance but would give me a discount to compensate. I felt the glasses and exam were very expensive compared to other places and telling me my insurance was accepted is a complete scam to get me in the door. When it was my turn to meet with the person who sells your the frames and lenses, they acted like it was a big imposition to wait on me because they were busy, but i had an appointment!! I would try other places first.

The available hours of the doctor make it hard to get things fixed if they aren't correct when you leave. I went to get my eyes looked at because I had headaches and knew I needed a new prescription the contacts I was given to try were so wrong that I couldn't even wear them a day and now I have to wait a week for him to be back and start the process over. And I had to pay out of pocket so it makes it a bit more frustrating!

I asked about buying some contacts and we briefly discussed the strength of the prescription as well as my concerns with wearing them daily. The dr told me to try a pair on, slightly less than my current prescription to make sure I could see. I was charged $40 for a contact fitting without being informed of the charge beforehand. Had I known of the out of pocket contact charge I would have just used my current prescription as I did not need to learn anything new about the use or wear of contacts. I wish this would have been discussed before it was just done and charged.

I thought the customer service was excellent. Because this was the first time ever getting glasses I didn't realize that I could have had the exam at AV, but then could have bought frames and/or lens somewhere else, which turned out to be much more expensive than I originally thought, and I don't remember it ever even being an option when I was sitting down with them. This was a little frustrating after the fact. Otherwise, it was a very nice place and everyone was awesome to work with.

Amber- We're glad you enjoyed our customer service! And of course you are welcome to purchase your glasses and contacts anywhere you wish. One thing to keep in mind though is that your insurance company dictates the prices for all your eyewear. Vision Service Plan actually sets the prices for frames, lenses and all options so that everything is uniform for all their providers. So if you pick the same frame, lenses and options it's the same price. So if you're comparing apples to apples the only thing that's different if you go somewhere else is you won't get to interact with my awesome staff. -Dr. A

My vision did not change and everything checked out good. There was no check of how my current contacts fit and I've been happy with the brand I've been wearing so no change with those either. I feel that I should not have be charged a contact fitting fee.

"Fitting" is probably one of the worst terms in our business, I've tried to banish it from use but I'm just as guilty of letting it slip every now and again. There is some determination of proper fitting whether that is by looking at the lens directly on the eye or looking at the eye for evidence of poor fit from the contacts you just removed. A better term would be "evaluation," the evaluation encompasses the diameter, base curve, lens material, solutions used, wearing schedule, power determination, trial lens ordering and follow up care as needed. A better way to think about it would be like this...If you had an X-ray taken and your bone wasn't broken, would you still have to pay for your X-ray? Simply because your vision didn't change doesn't mean nothing happened.

We are happy to offer many different contact lens options to our patients, however a three month lens isn't one that I would recommend. A more cost effective solution would be a two week or monthly disposable. 3 month or quarterly lenses generally cost more and are less healthy for the eye.

I agree, a receipt should be a simple thing. However, unlike a typical retail setting, when we apply and bill your insurance it must all be inputted at the time of the order which can take several minutes. To save you time, we typically give the full receipt when you pick up your order or mail one to you if needed. I apologize if you this wasn’t clear when you checked out. As for your contacts, the prices are actually very close regardless of where you buy them. The benefit to using us is that you receive your full insurance discount. If you found one for half the price, you are likely not looking at the same lens or lens quantity. Our prices are very competitive and we will usually price match a full year supply with any competitor. Please let me know if there is anything else we can do for you. –Dr. Arbaugh

James- Unfortunately your insurance company sets the prices you pay for your glasses, not us. They have a set price for every frame, every lens and every option. If you get a covered frame and lenses then you'll only owe your copay if any. But when you get thinner lenses, anti-reflective coatings, transitions or any other bells and whistles they charge for it. A good way to look at it is that vision insurance will cover what you need, but not necessarily what you want. My 13 year old daughter was a first time contact lens patient and was nervous about wearing contacts. I appreciated the patience and "light-hearted" atmosphere of the staff. She struggled but finally was successful in removing and reinserting her lens. After 3 days, she is happy wearing contacts.

Just be sure you are comparing apples to apples. Many places will quote you a low price to get you in the door, but they have no idea what your needs or wants are. With glasses, like just about everything in life, you get what you pay for.- Dr Arbaugh

You're in luck! Next year that's all you should have to do. We recently changed over to a new practice management software system, so next year (provided that your insurance company and/or Big Brother don't change things) you should only have to sign off on a single sheet and you're done. When I came out of the Doctors office my wife and the "sales lady" were about done with the transaction. I decided I did not want the transitional lens and she late told me I was to late after I spoke up she then took it off. I understand it is her resposibility to show us what we could get with our glasses but I felt like I was buying a car and she wanted to sell me all the options. after I seen the Doctor he said my prescription was to strong for my left eye. When I said I want to shop around the "sales lady" told me I could go to lens Crafter if I wanted but she said it was a bait and switch and that is totally illegal. I do not think it is very profesional when sales people talk bad about the competition. So they talked me into getting my new prescription for my glasses and we paid and left. As I thought more and more about how we were treated I decided I did not want want my new lenses through Alpine Vision. After my wife and kids get what they need we will not come back.

Our patients are always welcome to purchase their glasses or contacts anywhere they like, our prices are competitive but our quality and attention to detail is hard to beat. We normally bring it up if you're a good candidate. While you have a slight correction, you're eyes are actually too good to have it done! Most responsible LASIK surgeons would dissuade you doing it. Being new to Colorado Springs I didn't know of any eye Dr.'s I picked Alpine and I was pleasantly surprised with my choice. By far the most friendly office I've ever been in. They really made me feel like they cared about my individual situation and concerns. As we discussed...they don't make the lenses you want, they simply don't exist. As your doctor I am responsible for your vision, I won't prescribe lenses that don't allow you to see properly. I won't compromise your ocular health, the safety of others or my integrity because you want to change your eye color. I know there are other Optometrists out there who would be happy to write you a prescription and could care less if you see or not. We had a misunderstanding when scheduling these appointments. Suzanne was very anxious to have us schedule them before our insurance switched over to Tricare Prime. What left us shaking our heads was that she didn't help us through the process that we would be responsible for two $20 co-pays, where had we waited one month for the appointments that Tricare has no co-pay for bi-annual exams. Both our children have excellent vision and this was to be a routine check-up. So we will eat the $40 and chalk it up to experience and be wiser not to rely on the staff to aid us in making the best decisions for our family's eye care.

There are a few levels of anti glare coating but it may also depend on the lens material and design you selected. Occasionally when working with vision insurance they only have one or two levels, we will select the best available coating within that level for you.

This was a big waste of my time. My customer loyalty is to Dr Reuter, not to Alpine Vision. I expect this to not happen again or I will find a new clinic.

I have to be honest with you guys. I was very disappointed to find out that VSP is making people send in their frames to have lens put in. I watch two other people have to walk away without ordering new lens due to this. I understand it's not your fault but what are those of us to do about the issue? Buy another pair of frames at full retail? I'm not sure that's an option for most. I know I can't wear my old pair while I wait for new lens to be placed in my current frames. I would have massive headaches, etc. I sure wish that there was a better solution to the problem other than buying new frames. I feel for the most part that insurance is a scam for the most part anyway but it sure would be nice if you offered some sort of deal on pricing for a second pair. I'm not sure what the perfect answer is to this issue but I can't be the only one affected. It seems that VSP has found a way to keep their customers from getting new lenses in my opinion. I know this isn't your fault ultimately

We agree! Dealing with insurance companies is a pain and an inconvenience for all involved. Unfortunately more and more insurance companies are moving toward this model to "save" money. One thing that’s important to keep in mind is that insurance companies don’t exist to help you, they exist to make money. The truth is I can make the glasses quicker, better and less expensively with my own on-site lab, but most insurance companies prohibit me from doing so. We do offer discounts on second pairs and VSP has their own pricing schedule for this. I apologize for the inconvenience and I hope we can be of continued service to you and your family.

My vision check up was very smooth. The doctor took the time to explain what is happening to my vision as I get older, and made me feel that there was nothing to worry about. My appointment was to try to remove a foreign substance from my eye that was there for 2 days. The doctor at the nearby urgent care center treated me the day before but despite his efforts to wash out the substance I still had eye pain. So I contacted and scheduled an appointment the same day with Alpine Vision which was great. The doctor that treated me was able to quickly remove the substance although he never actually saw it. The skill and professionalism shown was impressive. We plan to change our optometrist based on this experience and the much closer location compared to the optometrist we currently see.
