This is the only dental practice I’ve experienced that doesn’t clean below the gum line into pockets or scrape calculus behind my last molars. I never felt that I got a thorough cleaning. Once when I was experiencing some bleeding Dr. Peterson suggested that perhaps I was flossing too hard and to not floss for a few days. I resolved the problem by using a mouthwash that stated it helped with gingivitis. That advice was just wrong.

I see Betsy at Acahti and she is wonderful. She takes time to listen to my concerns, provides very thorough explanations, and is conservative in her approach to procedures. She saved me from having an unnecessary root canal. Betsy also cleans my teeth herself, which I appreciate. Additionally, she checked my insurance and found that I'm eligible for a cleaning every 3 months, so at Acahti I actually go twice as frequently as I used to at other dentists. My cleanings are much easier as a result. This office is homey and welcoming. I feel lucky to have found such a great dentist!

Dr Oberly is a great dentist. I love the extra advise I always get during my visit on random health stuff too. I have been going for a couple of years and there is a vast improvement in my teeth since. The only thing is that in my last visit I did not get that minty extra fresh feeling I’ve gotten in the past (perhaps they changed the toothpaste?) Not sure what is was but something was different.

There's a shortage of good dentists in Ithaca, so when anyone asks for a recommendation, I always tell them about Acahti Dental. They have been my dentists for 8 years now, and have been nothing but professional, kind, and great to work with. I had a problems caused by neglect of my former dentists at Aspen Dental, and they have fixed and reversed pretty much all of these issues.

I wish there will be more cautious measures regarding to re-opening during COVID-19. It will great if there can be hand sanitizer provided for whom touch the door knob. The office also needs to measure every person's temperature upon entry by using a non-contact thermometer.

Like most people I don't like the dentist's, but Acahti totally blew my mind on my first visit. From explaining concepts to demonstrating proper flossing and brushing, I didn't feel criticized and instead felt hopeful about the health of my teeth. Since my visit I've sincerely tried to take time to floss the way I was shown how, and I'm looking forward to my next visit. Yikes! -Eli

I would have appreciated a cost estimate and a clearer communication of how much was billed each session. The treatment was good but they will hand you a huge bill at the end without prior notice. I did not have the feeling of having any choice.

I am a nervous patient. I often times need work done at appointments. The doctor was good at explaining what she was doing and to be fair I have only been in for a cleaning and to have some work done. Other than the receptionist, the rest of the people working there didn’t seem to have much energy and interaction with the patients. I think it might be too early to write a fair review but my initial impression is what was written above.

I've never been very fond of dentists and have tended to wait until there was a problem before going in. Dr. Peterson has gone above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and I appreciate the time she takes before a procedure to explain what she will be doing and afterwards to debrief me on what was done. The staff are just as excellent, from billing and appointments to the dental assistants - I just know that I am in good hands at this practice.
