As a patient of this office for over 10 years, just for exams, glasses, and contacts, I called the office on Friday morning, leading into Memorial Day weekend with some serious symptoms. They found an appointment for me that very day, and took great care of me when I arrived. The front desk was extremely helpful. Dr Sean Alexander examined me and found that I had some acute retinal problems. He and the front desk called Georgia Retina and got me an appointment the next day. I was very impressed with the way Windward Optical helped me during that crisis. Dr Robert Stoltz at Georgia Retina was amazing, and I owe it to Dr Alexander for the great referral. I was diagnosed with a detached retina and I had surgery at Northside that same day (Saturday). It was quite an ordeal, but could not have gone better under the circumstances, and it seems like I'll have a very good outcome.

First time getting my eyes checked since I was a child (I'm not 50). What a great experience. Calling to make the appointment was very easy, your lady at the front desk was helpful, got my insurance info done immediately and directed me to the online forms that I could complete before hand (saved me from having to do it when I arrived). Doctor was wonderful, didn't feel like I was rushed and didn't feel like I was being pressured into buying glasses. I did get glasses, which were needed. Overall wonderful experience.

Everything was great except the young man that got my prescription sunglass order together didn't explain my bill until I specifically asked to see it. He wanted to just tell me verbally what the costs were. I had to ask for a printout. Given I paid over $700 for my eye exam and glasses, I expected to see a printout and have it and my insurance coverage explained to me without asking. If it had just been the copay, I wouldn't have expected a detailed description. He also didn't really go over my options on my lenses. Just copied what I got last time. I had to ask to make sure it was what I wanted. I had to ask if they were going to be progressive, he didn't ask me, just added it to my order. Would have been 5 stars if not for that.

We have been visiting Dr. Alexander for eye exams for past 4 yrs and quite happy with this facility overall. Dr. Alexander very professional. Office staff are nice. Waiting period has also improved now.

My first appointment at Windward Eye Care was disappointing. We were a few minutes late because of traffic and my navigator leading me in the wrong direction. I called the office for directions and she told me angrily that i would need to be in the office in 10 minutes because they have a 15 minute late policy. When I got there they told me that they would be nice enough to still see my daughter. I asked what happened to my appointment and they told me I did not have one. I made two appointments for that day one for me and one for my daughter. We had to wait longer to get in like that because two appointments right after each other were hard to get. The receptionists denied having an appointment for me though. When they took in my daughter the nurse was very rude and did not even say hello. The whole thing seemed to be like a big rush to get us out of there. Needless to say I wasn't happy. We will not go to this location again !

For many years, I've loved my eye doctors here. Dr. Airy and Dr. Alexander are both awesome. I moved far from the area but still travel 45 miles only to see them. I trust their expertise and professionalism. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful.

Everyone was really nice. The doctor was educational and personable. The doctor's assistant was not great, took my blood pressure incorrectly and when I told her the reading was wrong she said that she was just filling in blanks and it didnt matter. Not exactly a good sign.

Great experience, 10:00 Saturday appointment, greeted immediately by front desk , did not sit more than 3 minutes...and saw the doctor very, very quickly, shuffled from room to room during various tests, overall about one hour. It was a very pleasant experience with the team. And to top it off, my eye sight actually improved. I just need to find time to get back in for new lenses, thanks you very much!....a great visit.

The doctor I saw was wonderful, his assistant and the girls behind the desk were also great, however the guy that "helped" me find glasses and order them leaves a lot to be desired. I told him I could only afford what the VSP insurance pays for and he kept trying to sell me things I could not afford, he was not helpful showing me frames as I had to keep asking if they were in the range that was covered. I'm not very happy that I cannot afford more options at this time and being reminded of this is not a "happy happy time". Otherwise, the other aspects of my visit were very nice and I will return whenever I need glasses or contact lenses.

I brought my kids here once before and they saw a different doctor, whom I liked a lot. This was my first visit and I brought up a concern about a convergence problem I've been having that wound up never being addressed by the doctor at all. While there, he asked me to try on a very strange prescription that had me wearing contacts that were too strong in one eye and not nearly strong enough in the other eye to make reading with contacts easier, but to me everything just felt wonky. Also, he changed my prescription very slightly from my existing prescription so that both contacts would be the same. When I asked why, he said it was "splitting hairs" but I could tell the difference and when I called to ask that this be changed, it took a week with a visit and several calls to get a corrected prescription.

I have been at my job for over 10 years and know that I have additional coverage for contacts and/or eyewear the same year. I should not have been advised to contact my provider. The office should have done that. My doctor is amazing and he keeps me coming back. This experience has definitely soured my taste and I will not recommend additional friends as I have in the past. I contacted my provider who confirmed my coverage and contacted the office with the authorization. I feel like the receptionist could have confirmed this

I'd like to see more coordination between dr, admin, eyeglass tech and patient history. To explain, I saw a different dr from my last visit of 2 years ago. Maybe I misunderstood, but my previous dr advised I had slow growing cataracts that wouldn't require surgery until 10 years or so. The dr I saw last Saturday, while suggesting I get another opinion, said I was an immediate candidate for surgery. At the same time he wrote a prescription for glasses. And I know I need new glasses, but I believe my prescription will change if I do elect to have the surgery. I was told I would receive the info on the potential Drs for second option and surgery via email. It's been a week and I have nothing. Thank you for your consideration. Ps I ordered new glasses anyway, but things don't seem to add up in my book.

Front office staff needs to be more professional. There seemed to be some tension between a couple of them. One was poor at multitasking and had a very bad attitude when another offered her help. I saw no need for that. She was slim with dark hair. She should never do that in front of customers. Shows a lack of proffesionalism. Save the drama for later. Kudos to the young lady who pitched in.

The Snellen/Sloan chart tends to add 0.25 to 0.50 diopters of excess minus power due to the strain of viewing static images. It took me two months to realize that the first refraction was horrible. The current refraction is great.

When I mentioned my experience to my husband he said, "it is always like that there." I was beyond upset with the rudeness. I feel that the overall atmosphere and sour grapes attitude of staff, we will be switching to Thomas Eye Group. There is a reason why everyone is just surly. I don't need that. Someone in my office told me they had a similar experience at Alpharetta Eye Clinic.

Our daughter Kara Stultz was there for an eye exam in July of 2014. We called to get more lenses for her as she is in school out of state. We were told in a very rude and condescending manner by Jennifer that it didn't matter if Kara got an exam in July because hers was an exam for glasses not contacts. That is BS. I have never had Dr. Aery tell me that my exam was only good for contacts or glasses. In fact, I have received both prescriptions after my exams. Not sure why things are different now. I can't stress enough how non customer friendly Jennifer was. She felt that she needed to lecture us on government regulations from her clerk's chair. I expect a call and full accounting from the owner on Tuesday, the 17th of Feb. If we don't receive a call then my family will take our business to a practice where it is appreciated.

I don't typically take the time to leave a review but in this case, I felt compelled to. Dr. Arey was just that "awesome." Probably one of the nicest, most genuine and honest doctors I've ever had. He took the time to explain all of my options and never pushed services or prescriptions I didn't need. I'll eventually need progressive lenses but he was honest and told me that I didn't need them just yet, when he could have easily told me otherwise. You can tell he enjoys his job and genuinely cares about people. Meaning, you're not just another number in the waiting room queue, which is rare these days. The rest of the staff was great too, overall a great experience and I'll definitely be back. Anyone looking for a great eye doctor, you can't go wrong with Dr. Arey.

It will cause me to re-think my relationship with Windward Eye Care, because that money came out of my own pocket. It felt like a gratuitous charge to me--and I didn't like that feeling at all. So next year, I will likely seek out other options for my eye care. Still, they are perfectly lovely and friendly at Windward Eye Care. I just happen to care where my money goes.

At his is the second year when the front desk did not understand my vision plan benefits. I had to specifically tell them to recheck because I have 2nd pair benefits. For all I know, I've been overcharged in prior years. Additionally, I still wonder if I was overcharged because I had a significant out of pocket fee, and it was not explained well. I provided the explanation to my husband and he indicated this is not his understanding of our benefits. He never had large out of pocket costs prior to his LASIK. Nor does he had them now when he uses the benefits to buy sunglasses. I am going to call VSP to validate what I was charged. Finally, I found the front desk girl unpleasant the entire visit. She was not very friendly upon arrival. And she was unhelpful, unfriendly, and unclear during benefit and payment discussions. I've been a patient for several years but no longer see a reason to remain a patient when the business is not friendly and does not handle my benefits properly

He is also a very good communicator, explaining complex details in a fashion a lay person can clearly understand.

I had an appt. about 10 days back and was late by about 45 min due to an urgent meeting that came up. I came by but the reception person said that I will have to fix up another appt. as I am 45 min late. Last year for one of my appt. I waited for a good 40 min before my turn came. It is almost as if the customer's time is not important - the customer can be kept waiting but not the service provider. I was disappointed when I was asked to get a fresh appt because I was late by 45 min. The office should have still tried to put me in as myself and my family are Windward Eye Care's customers and the office should have accomodated me.

All of the above was pretty good. The only thing that I was disappointed with was the choices on the glass frames, quality and the outrageous prices for a decent set of good glasses. I think a set of glasses shouldn't cost $949 without insurance or pay $649 after insurance. Not everyone can afford this prices, especially right now with the economy. Therefore, I will definitely look else where for more economical glasses. Thanks you!

I am extremely pleased with the clinical aspect of my appointment. Dr. Alexander is extremely thorough and professional. My issue is with the office staff. In my opinion they are unprofessional. I do not get a feeling of confidence from ladies at the desk. They are slow and very unfriendly. My total bill was much lower than I expected and I asked if it was correct. She assured me that it was then was advised by the other lady that she had only charged me half of the invoice. I was very glad to pay the difference but was given the impression that I was bothering them. In the past the support staff better represented the practice. Perhaps additional personnel and better training would ease the situation. If other patients have a similiar experience, it would have a negative impact on the practice. Thank you.

FIVE STARS minus the Receptionist :: The receptionist was extremely rude. I initially thought I was late for a 1 o'clock appointment. I greeted her with my name and an apology. She told me that they don't schedule 1 o'clock appointments. I said "Oh then when is my appointment?" she snapped back "I don't know when your appointment is!" I was shocked she had such an attitude toward a client. The conversation continued with a condescending tone...so I walked out and came back at my scheduled appointment time at 1:30. I'd have to say this is not the first incident I've encountered with this receptionist. The first time I chalked it up as she was just having a bad day. Everyone else in the office has always been extremely professional.

After the eye exam ($10 copay) it was determined my prescription had not change. I was not going to order new contacts or lenses for my glasses since there was no change, but I was given a pair of contacts and checked for fit without being given the option to decline or told that it was an additional charge - and was then charged $42 for a contact fitting exam that wasn't needed.

Staff is respectful. Wait time to work with optician too long. My time spent for a simple exam and glasses selection exceeded my expectations. The survey seems to expect people to not be seated at the given appointment time. I was seated ten minutes after my appointment time. And, I think I was the first or second person after the staff's lunch time (1:30 pm). I waited for an optician for 15 minutes. I spent a total of at least 25 more minutes than I should have at this exam. I already had a good understanding of my condition before my exam. My husband sees another eye care provider and does not wait like I do every time I have an appointment. Please evaluate the staffing and time processes for this office.

I was initially told I would get a call back, but after several days without a response I called back. Then I was put on hold, followed by a tranfer to the Old Milton office. Once transferred back to Windward the phone rang a very long time without being answered. I continue to be very unimpressed in with the front office staff. The woman with the long blonde hair is particularly unhelpful.

You sent a reminder for our annual visits and when I called to make my 2 daughter's appointments, one of them you couldn't find in your system. The front desk person was rather rude about it. When we came in for the visit, they still hadn't placed her information in the system. Once again, they front person was rather rude. I have sent several families to your practice; but, questioning whether we will stay with your practice or not.

The lady behind the front counter was extremely rude at the Windward location. Another employee actually took me aside and apologized for her attitude and then proceeded to ask me to bring it up with the eye doctor. I responded stating that I want nothing to do with your office politics. It is not my responsibility as a customer to have to report employees and file complaints. The second employee obviously observed the first employee's horrible customer service to the point of apologizing to a customer but then proceeded to pawn off the responsibility of dealing with it back to the customer. It shouldn't have happened in the first place and the office management should handle it without involving customers. My way of handling it is simple, we won't be back.

I wish the cost break downs were explained more clearly before the exam. Each time I have come for an appointment I leave very surprised at how much it cost. It seems like I unknowingly agree to the services and their costs. I just wish you all were more up front with what each service costs BEFORE the service is performed. I would probably still agree to the services and their costs, but I wouldn't leave feeling surprised and like I was "nickeled and dimed".

I think Dr. Alexander is amazing. The Opticians are outstanding as well. I was a patient of Dr. Alexander many years ago, my insurance changed and I had to leave. I was excited to return to Windward eyecare. Unfortunately, the staff has changed and they are less than professional. The doctors assistant struggled to deal with my 12 year old daughter. Unacceptable. The fr4ont desk ladies were friendly but made mistake after mistake and did not have a sense of urgency to correct the errors when they were made. Instead they gave lame excuses about that failure to follow-up. I do not think I will return with my children again. I also advised my husband that the service is less than stellar and he should research other options.
