I've been seeing Dr. Warren since I was a kid. I enjoy the office visits. I love that Nina and Dr. Warren make an effort to know their patients by name without a chart in their hands. They honestly build a relationship with their patients and look in their best interests. Even after moving to Illinois, I continue to come back for annual appointments. They can't get rid of me that easily ;)

Not to happy that you do not offer later appointment times to those of us with VSP Insurance. A coworker of mine and myself were told that since we had the VSP insurance we could not have the later times on Wednesdays. I was told at my appointment that Dr. Warren requested his schedule to be that way. This was the only fault I had with Warren Eye Care, but is an important one. I may look around next year to find someone that is more accommodating with appointment times especially since I work full time and it is hard to come in during the day.

We do, however, evening/after work appointments are very popular so they do fill up early. That's one of the benefits of booking your appointment a year in advance, you get "first chance" at the preferred/more popular appointments. Patients who wait until later/closer to when they want to be seen have less choice for available appointments due to others having taken the preferred appointment slots. We do have a new "waitlist" function in our software what we can use to notify patients when desirable/later appointments may come available due to a cancellation. But its still best to book your next appointment before leaving the office if you want one of those appointment times.

Dr. Warren is always cheery and personable. He always does his best to help - even if you live in another state/country. I highly recommend him. The only unfortunate thing about my visits there is that the assistant, Terri (?), has continuously been quite unpleasant and crabby - every time. It's a shame because the others' energy is very vibrant.

I made it before you left the exam Felicia. You should have gotten an email with the info. Otherwise, give Emily a call at the office and she can give you the details and your log in credentials so that you can check these type of things out online at any time.

Great new office & new location, great doc % great staff! The only suggestion I would make is to purchase a new coffee cart. We bought our kids one at Shopko for under $100.00 with a granite top and a dark wood base with shelves. The office looks great but the coffee car has seen better days.

You're absolutely correct Carol, I'm working on improving the lighting in that area of the practice. We did have a better area for that process in our previous location.

I'm sorry about that Wendy. However, there is simply no way for us to check into insurance coverage for each and every patient. There are just too many of them and too many different plans for each company. For example, we have 23 different entries in our computer system just for "United Healthcare". Insurance coverage is a contract between the patient and their insurance carrier and it is the patients' responsibility to understand their coverage.

When an appointment is booked, an email is sent with the details and an attachment that can be saved in an electronic schedule. A week in advance of the appointment an email is sent to allow patients to confirm their appointments, if they don't, one is sent a day in advance and a text message is sent 2 hours before the appointment (but not before 8am). The follow up survey that you replied to is sent after each appointment but not more often than every 3 months. Patients are able to securely message me directly via their patient portal (which has been promoted via eNewsletters repeatedly). So, I'm not sure what type of foliow-up we are missing on, but I'm open to suggestions.

Its always difficult to deal with that issue. Some patients plan enough time to do so before their appointment start, some do not. We need to start appointments at the scheduled time in order to stay on schedule so pushing back the start of an appointment to select glasses isn't really feasible, or fair to later patients who will then have their appointment start late also. Patients are always welcome to come to the office early to select eyewear, or return at a later date. We also utilize technology that allows patients to see themselves in new glasses other than just a mirror, which usually helps deal with the issue. But its not an easy issue to tackle the same way every time.

Hey Joel, I checked with the staff and you ordered a 6 month supply of your contacts. The vendor provides no charge to the patient shipping when an annual supply is ordered. Otherwise they charge a pretty hefty shipping charge. We can put them in the mail to you if you want though. Just email the staff (office@warreneyecarecenter.com) if you want them to do that. Just keep in mind that it will probably take a day or two for them to go out depending on when the staff hears from you.

Jennifer, The process of ordering glasses when using vision care benefits can indeed become a significant hassle, for you as the customer and for my staff too. We can't use "usual and customary" ordering processes and technology to price out the glasses, and coordinating benefits and maximizing your vision care plan benefit can take some time and be cumbersome. That's something that is a constant struggle, having the mix of frames that patients want while not having a lot of non-productive inventory. We constantly try to rotate and update our selection. If there's something specific that you want to see, let Nina know and she will work to accommodate your desires.

That's the announcement of you next appointment. We don't print out the date and time for those people that we have emails for. The email has an attachment that you can put into an electronic calendar if you use one, or you can pencil it into your calendar. We'll send you a reminder email 2 weeks before your next appointment. From that email you can confirm the appointment, take your interview and if necessary, by next June you'll even be able to reschedule your appointment from that email.

Hi Karen. There is some new technology for measuring the position for your lenses in your new frame, but as of yet its not shown to be as accurate as the "old fashioned way". When that changes, we'll upgrade!

Hi John, we ask patients to complete the interview to better understand a few things. First is their current conditions, vision problems, concerns etc. The second it to know your expectations and desires from your visit. You can complete the interview from home, your work computer, your smart phone or tablet, or my office. The appointment reminder that you will receive 2 weeks before your next appointment will have a link to the interview so that you can comoplete it at your convenience, either before or at your appointment.

Kristine, you will be able to perform that interview from home before coming in for your appointment next year. I agree that its a bit impersonal, which is why I ask follow up questions as well as other questions which are more customized to each patient. The interview/intake is just the beginning of my data collection. We are constantly working to upgrade and improve on the intake process and the questions as answered.

I have zero complaints about Dr. Warren. I have been his patient for 7 years. He is knowledgeable, personable, and professional with a sense of humor, which can be hard to find in the service industry. His practice is well put together and I love that he stays up to date on technology. I get emails and texts reminding me of my appointments. And with the click of a mouse on any computer in the office, my prescription is filled, my contacts are on order (delivered to my house within just a few days) and the front desk is making a phone call. E, Oakley is a royal pain to deal with unless yo udo huge business with them. We try to keep up our Costa inventory, but it tends to go up and down w/out any predictable pattern! And if we took your first 3 suggestions, there's no way anything would get done around here! :-)

I felt as if I was being requested to input information that should be the responsibility of an adminstrative assistant. I much prefer the paper questionnaire.

I'm sorry for your frustration. We're learning as we go through this transformation in the way that we deliver care. In the future, your interview can be done at home or work before arriving at the office. The reminder for your appointment next year will have a link in it to your personal health record. If we used a paper form, the data would not be part of your personal health record, as it now goes directly into it.

I asked when I was told my payment total that 'my insurance covered a portion of my glasses', but I never really got an understanding if they paid for any of my contacts, my exam or what portion of my glasses. I am now going to research my insurance, because I do not feel comfortable even with my question and answer that my insurance was properly applied for my visit, contact and/or glasses.

Anne, You're not the only one who finds dealing with vision care benefits plans confusing and somewhat overwhelming, we feel that way sometimes also. There are many, many different plans, even within the two programs that we participate in. VSP and EyeMed only cover one type of vision correction per year, either glasses or contact lenses, and the coverage is many times less than what you are lead to anticipate based on the information provided by your vision care benefit plan. You can rest assured that the staff will work with you to maximize your benefits.

HI Kathy, For a single individual, its often a break even proposition, especially when you can use flex dollars to pay for things not covered by your major medical plan (which the primary part of your visit may be covered by them, depending on deductible status). Nina can walk you through all of the details when you pick your glasses up!hy, Its confusing to us too, but that's the way that your vision care plan requires us to bill/report the charges.

Also, the proceedure went very quickly. If I had a question about anything, it was answered, so I was not hurried through the appointment, but everyone knew what they needed to do and went about it in a timely fashion. I did not sit and wait for the next stage of the exam. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and I felt comfortable through the entire exam.

I don't think anyone had time to greet me!The great thing was I was in and out of the office for my exam in probably less than 1/2 an hour. That was great too. Also appreciated the option not to be "dialated" as I was last year and had to do a lot of reading after my appt. Don't know if this is an area you really want to expand in but the only thing that might be added is possibly a larger selection of frames. I admit I am SUPER picky about frames but would love to give YOU the business if I could. And I already have recommended you to others. When I called to speak to Dr. Warren he promptly returned my call. He got me scheduled right away. What I thought might be an eye problem turned out to be a sinus infection, he advised me what over-the-counter medications to take,and gave me his cell phone number in the event those didn't clear things up. El, We can go one better than that. We can take your picture in (m)any frame(s) that you want, show them to you on the iPad once you put your old specs on and you can check yourself out in them. You can even email one or all of the photos to yourself, your wife or anyone else! Dr. Warren

After moving recently into the area, and having a bad experience at my first attempt at finding a new eye doctor, I was really apprehensive walking into my appointment. No need, I felt everything was clearly explained and Dr. Warren has an easy rapport with patients. I felt very welcome the entire time I was there and his staff was professional and polite. I definitely felt comfortable during my visit and would highly recommend Dr. Warren's practice.
