I have never had an eye health exam and fitting for contact lenses performed in such a thorough and time efficient manner. From the moment I walked in until I left, (less than 30 minutes later), the experienced staff provided professional service at every turn, including answers to every question I had - from insurance-related questions to recommended contact lens solutions.

Excellent service. I managed to get in on the same day I called thanks to a cancellation. It was my first visit and they were very helpful. Dr. Poveromo was excellent and I would highly recommend her. The office staff where also helpful and helped me choose new frames for both my regular glasses and y sunglasses.

Your prices are much too high compared to other eye care providers. You quoted new lenses for my current frame at $575. I went back to costco and bought the same premium lenses for $157.

The customer service was very pleasant. The exam was short, but thorough. However, their online service to schedule appointments is flawed. When I showed up for my appointment I scheduled, their records did not match the confirmation email I received. They promptly rescheduled me, but I was a little frustrated. Doctor was super nice, and the exam was quick, so I like the clinic.

I was impressed by the careful and thorough exam and explanation by the eye care physician. The staff was friendly, kind and helpful. I trust Volunteer Eyecare to provide my long term eye care and refer me to a specialist if and when needed for more serious eye issues such as cataracts. The Patient Portal needs some work; it is hard to read, too detailed in descriptions intermingled with individual care results. It also contained several inaccuracies when I set up access and reviewed initial reports and information - a little too automated perhaps. However, portal issues of various sorts are a rather common problem as all health care providers struggle to implement new electronic record keeping, and I presume this will get better over time.

My husband and I went for a much needed and overdue check up and we were blown away by this office. The optometrist was very knowledgeable for both mine and my husbands unique situations & gave us information that was easy to understand. He is passionate about his job; you can tell by the way he speaks to you as both a person and a patient. They were able to get us in very quickly and were sympathetic to our needs as young parents.

My overall experience was very good, and overall very decent. My only small complaint is that I feel (key word: feel) like, based on what was explained to me prior to my appointment, and based off the paperwork as I had interpreted it, I was mislead on what I would be paying out-of-pocket for my initial visit. I was under the impression that the exam ($15 co-pay on my end) was inclusive of a contacts exam, but contact fitting exams are actually $75 on top of my co-pay. I was also lead to believe it was inclusive because I went out of my way to fax a copy of my eyeglasses prescription to you guys. Either way, I understand the charges now, I'm happy to pay for the care/services I received, the staff was very courteous and helpful, and the flexibility of hours for appointments during the week is convenient because I work multiple jobs. I'm also happy to have a vision care provide that is about half a mile from home, instead of all the way across town (used to have Stanton Optical). Thanks for your time, I hope my review can be of use to Volunteer Eyecare :)

Wonderful staff! Needed new frames. The staff member assisting me was very patient and honest with her opinion for each frame I tried on until we found the right frame for my coloring and face shape.

Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. Dr Caroline Poveromo was fantastically helpful, offering alternates in contact to test and determine where I am most comfortable. I would strongly recommend this location to any and all of my downtown Knoxville friends.

The contact lens fit fee is something that I have never had to pay before and honestly it was kind of annoying. An extra $60 for you to put me in the same contacts that I have always worn seems a bit much. Especially with insurance there to cover other stuff. It just seemed like an almost scam way to make more money. Hopefully not though. I really enjoyed everything else though. Friendly staff. Knowledgeable doctor. Everything else was great.

Whisked right in, to get a quick but thorough eye exam. The only complaint is that I was seen so quickly, I was in the exam room before my free coffee was ready - but they brought that to me in the exam room, anyway. The doctor found stuff that wasn't a problem yet, but he'll be watching for a change in the future. Bringing my kids when it's time for their exams!

When I undergone the initial testing to check my eye depth perception and my eye width measurements, all of the equipment seemed a unsanitary. The glasses had finger prints all over the lenses and the temples/temple tips felt like they were oily and never really cleaned. The chin and forehead rests on ALL of the equipment felt oily and unsanitary. I hope it was residue from cleaning products, but (if I'm going to be honest) that didn't seem like the case. I would suggest better and regular cleaning of all surfaces that come into contact with patients. Positive note: The employees were very polite and courteous. The doctor was great and very easy to talk to. He explained everything before, during and after all the tests were conducted. It felt like he has great compassion for his patients and has a nice flow to his office.
