Dr. James is very thorough and explains the situation with my eyes in a very clear and understandable manner. I really appreciate his immense knowledge and expertise. He takes the time to be sure I have all the information I need and all my questions are answered. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. I don't remember her name (sorry), but the young woman who operates the high tech machinery to do the glaucoma testing is always pleasant and helpful and very good at her job.

All doctors and staff are exceptional. I love not having to worry who is on staff, knowing that I can count on being informed as to what not only is going on with my vision, but also the health of my eyes. Also, no guessing games about insurance. The front desk staff has done all the research and can inform me of my benefits and options.

They have a very efficient front desk staff where someone is there to help you within seconds of walking in the door. Their trained technicians are very experienced in routine eye exams leading up to the visit w the eye Dr. Dr Holland is well versed and super knowledgeable about all eye health. Any question I had, she was able to explain the causes, symptoms and treatments .

I recently sustained a puncture wound to my periorbital area and a corneal abrasion, the ER doctor requested a follow-up with an Optometrist within 24 hours. Being a Friday and the fact that it had been 3 years since my last visit, I wasn't very confident. Thankfully the receptionist and Dr James were able to accommodate me that afternoon. Dr. James suggested that I try a product called Pataday for dry eye issues. (I also have Fuchs Dystrophy). He mentioned it might take a few days to work as it should. I used the twice daily drop prescription having used for last 2 days. Unfortunately, so far this product caused some blurriness, a bit of sensitivity to light and some discomfort. I will try again today for the third day, but now that I think about it, I should’ve asked him how many days should I use it before I just discontinue continue if it’s causing issues. Heads up for the next guy😎

Dr. James has been my doctor for several years. He is incredibly thorough and explains all of the details of my eye health every year. He has been incredibly helpful in fitting my contacts and making sure that my near, mid and distant vision are adjusted appropriately with my contacts. You but expensive glasses here and they then give you the prescription, but then the essentials like the PD aren’t included- it’s like pulling teeth to get that- why do I have to ask every time? Otherwise this office is friendly and they look at improving vision for patients like finding different contacts to try, etc. I like that aspect.

I will not be coming to Vail Vision for my eye care needs any more. The doctor exams are top notch and my exam October 3rd, 2022 continued to be the high quality experience I have come to greatly appreciate at Vail Vision. I have often bought multiple pairs and sunglasses at my annual visits due to the quality of frames to choose from and the great attention to my needs in eyeware I have received from Vail Vision's opticians. I did not have the experience I expected from the great attention and care I received in previous visits. The interaction with the optician quickly turned negative. The optician disregarded the multi-focal prescription and asked if I wanted to order single vision. I had to advocate for what the doctor prescribed. The optician left me to look for frames on my own which was a departure from my previous experience of opticians guiding me through several options. The optician spoke from her desk that I should be looking in the back of the store for frames my insurance would cover instead of the premium eyeware area I was and usually shop in. The optician finally came over to see if she could help me find frames. I told her I was looking for frames to fit the multi-focal prescription. I was having to know what I needed which was adding up to more concern that I was not in good hands. After I found frames on my own the optician began writing up my ticket and I explained what I need in a lens and the optician disregarded me. She either did not understand my question/request or did not care and proceeded to tell me what I needed with no explanation as to why it was counter to my request. I tried to get clarification but she just offered to get me a new optician. At this point, I told her I was no longer comfortable with purchasing the frames and I needed to simply pay for my exam.

I was traveling from out of state when I developed a problem with my right eye. I was able to make an appointment the same day and the staff there were excellent In diagnosing the problem and doing the necessary administrative work to get me scheduled for surgery at a Retinal center the same day. I cannot speak highly enough of doctors Matt James and Johnathan Owens. They explained to me in great detail what the problem was and what needed to be done to solve the problem. I have to express the feeling that I was treated and talked to like I was a member of their family. The front desk staff went above and beyond to find me a surgeon to deal with my problem. For someone traveling out of state that is very reassuring. All in all I'm very happy I went to Vail vision that morning. I cannot express enough my thanks to everyone there.

I had a foreign body in my eye and this appointment was scheduled as an emergency as the office had no appointments available but didn't want me to go an entire weekend without being helped. They squeezed me in, were able to look at affected eye and provide badly needed consult and medication for my eye. They are the best vision clinic I have been to in about 50 years!

Dr. Holland was Excellent and exceeded my expectations based on over 30 years of history with Vail Vision. I thought she communicated very well when answering my questions in good detail and went above and beyond, in my opinion, in explaining the process. Not simply answering the questions I had, but taking time, introducing me to what to expect and prepared me for the choices ahead that I would have to make with the cataract surgeon. This has been my best experience with a Vail Vision Provider.. Support staff was friendly, but never had the feeling that they cared much. Not sure these ever get read... but there you go.
