My husband & I are pleased with the service offered here. There are some fairly new faces at the front desk but they are doing good though I miss seeing the young ladies who no longer work there. They were AWESOME to me. Especially one who gave me the perfect, comfortable fit when it comes to adjusting my frames. I enjoy having Dr Howie as my optometrist. Very patient and knowledgeable. The ladies who work the various machines and get all the images ready, they too are so easy to talk and deal with. Hubby and I do not plan on leaving any time soon. 😊

This recent appointment was my second exam. I was greeted in a friendly manner starting with the telephone call to schedule an exam. I was welcomed when I walked into the building and checked in. The exam specialist was very friendly, and I felt at ease during the whole process. She struck up a conversation and it didn't feel "forced". The specialist was very efficient, and I felt a genuineness from her. I appreciated how quickly Dr. Howie was able to visit with me as I didn't have to wait long after the exam. He asked me relevant questions, listened to my answers, and took time with me in order for me to receive the best possible prescription and care. We had a great conversation, and I enjoyed getting to know him a little more. I have total trust in him. When I was looking for frames, the sales person took a special interest in finding frames that would fit my face and look nice on me. She was forthcoming with information about pricing and insurance coverage. I didn't feel any pressure to make quick decisions any time during this process. She exhibited a friendly and caring personality.

From the scheduling of the visit all through the testing and diagnosis Dr. Howie and his staff provided excellent explanations and options for my vision health. They were very helpful in the selection of eyeglasses as I have not needed glasses until recently. (Almost reached my 62nd birthday before needing glasses.) I highly recommend Dr. Howie's practice for anyone who wants to maintain their vision health as they are very professional and a pleasure to deal with throughout the entire process.

I was treated with friendliness and respect by the reception staff, quickly taken to rooms for various tests on my eyesight and eyeballs, and had a very short wait until Dr. Howie examined my test results, did a little further testing and then took the time to fully explain his diagnosis and recommendations to me. I had a positive experience here. The receptionist was helpful and friendly. The doctor was comprehensive and effective and didn't push me into buying anything. I did the additional testing offered for $39 and am glad I did. While there were no concerns that came up from it, it will allow the doctor to assess me each year with the depth to compare me to prior years and see developments more clearly.

Even as it was told to him and the nurses that the child had never had a full eye appt he did not explain things to the child. He was nice but basically just did the exam and nothing more. No explanation to the parents. I had to stop him to clarify and explain things.

Everyone was extremely nice. Their Computerized Retinal Imaging was amazing and worth the extra cost that's not covered by insurance. Dr. Matthew Howie took time to talk to my son during his exam and get a better feel for what sports he plays and explained how glasses will help.

A recent eye emergency necessitated a quick visit to Dr. Howie. I was so impressed by how quickly the office staff scheduled my appointment. Upon arrival I received a preliminary eye exam by a technician. She was polite and reassuring. Dr. Howie completed the exam. He was thorough and also very reassuring. The eye exam equipment he has is state of the art. I was completely satisfied with every component of my visit. I'm a newcomer to Des Moines. I can say with confidence I've found my eye doctor!

Testing and follow-up seems to utilize the most current assessment techniques and equipment available. Test results are explained thoroughly and at the client's level of understanding. Customer service from the younger gal wasn't great either time in the office Tuesday or Wednesday. Had to ask about benefits, until I asked. No one in the front office was welcoming upon my arrival. Gentleman that performed the scans did a great job. Very personable. Lastly, Dr. Howie was great as usual.
