I have been going to this practice for over 15 years. I have always enjoyed my relationship with them. The facility is pleasant and clean and especially attractive since the renovation. The staff is knowledgable, efficient, agreeable and good at what they do. They have always taken good care of my eyes. I have never had any problems there and would be hard put to find anything negative to say about this practice.

We previously had to change providers due to insurance but were able to return to Summerfield Family Eye this year and were thrilled to do so. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and unlike other providers, there are no add on services resulting in extra out of pocket expenses. There was a slight wait to be seen but that’s expected at a busy office and aside from that everything about the visit was great.

I visited Summerfield Family Eye yesterday. I was promptly greeted and the desk staff was friendly. However, the person selling/fitting glasses ignored my presence (even though I was the only one there, and it was a small room). She was much more interested in the phone than the people present. After the exam, the Dr. asked her to help me with a simple eyeglass tightening - she smirked and would not help. The ironic part is I would Have purchased another pair of glasses even though I didn’t necessarily need them because I have an insurance allowance. I understand that she was helping another person when I returned, but I don’t understand not being acknowledged- especially when there was only one other person in the room. I finally stopped waiting, paid my bill and left. The Dr. was friendly, but I probably will not go back.

I was blown away by the patience and kindness shown by Dr. Barts and her colleagues. Not only were they friendly and personable to our 11 year old son, but they were genuinely encouraging and patient with him as he tried to learn how to put in contacts for the very first time. The staff gently gave him tips and guidance and were very generous with the amount of time they spent with hiim. When he was unsuccessful at putting them in that first day, they invited him back the next afternoon to give it another try. I feel confident that other offices would have said "he's not ready yet" and he would have left feeling unsuccessful and defeated. Instead of giving up on him, they encouraged him to come back and try again. He did the next day - and he was successful!

I really appreciate the special care Dr. Barts and her staff are providing patients during the current situation with the virus. Requiring face masks, use of hand sanitizer, taking patients' temperature, continual cleaning of surfaces, and monitoring the number of people in the space at one time reflect the level of seriousness this practice is taking as well as their respect for their patients. I love Summerfield Family Eye Care, from the moment you walk in the door you are treated as if you are family. Dr. Barts is amazing, I have to have a special eye exam due to a certain medication I take and for years had been going to a local well known ophthalmology group where it would take me hours to get thru this exam, on my 1st visit with Dr. Barts about 6 years ago for a routine eye exam I was talking about how I hated going there and she let me know that she could do the exam so I set my next appt. up with her, I was so surprised when I had my exam and was in and out of her office in way under an hour, her office didn't have me going from one exam room then a waiting room to another exam room, waiting room for each process of this exam they took each step of the exam one right after the other and then right to her without leaving me waiting 30-45 minutes in between each process which cut hours off the time. Once Dr. Barts gets to the room she is so down to earth and the best words to describe her are sweet, kind and she knows what she is doing and explains everything in depth and in ways I understand what is going on.
