Assistant seemed bored, tired, uninterested. Not helpful. Basically said, "Here. Put this around you. She'll be in in a minute." It was a sheet; I thought it was a gown. I had to ask. She didn't say what all she wanted me to take off. I felt kind of like I was bothering her by being there. :/ Just my impression.

It appeared that neither the Dr nor the asst had my records. They both asked if the scar on my nose was a result of Melanoma, which it is. On my earlier visit I gave them the name, address etc of the medical group on Long Island that had performed the surgery in 2009. I wonder if anyone ever took the time to obtain the records.

I am a fifty something irish woman with fair skin, so i have been to dermatologist before for freezing , Usually the dermatologist looks at your skin and advised if you have any spots , the nurse that was the doctor , #1 never smiled had no personality, they asked me what spots i had concerns with and could have cared less about me and my concerns, i left feeling like i went to a spa and not a dermatologist, i did not appreciate being offered brochures for your company products, i will not return to this office or recommend, i went back to my office telling my coworkers you area a spa covering as a dermatology office to get the insurance patients, very disappointed not a real dr offica a spa

I've never been to a dermatologist before so I scheduled a "skin check" over the phone. I was under the assumption that a skin check was going to give me time to have a discussion with the provider about all my skin issues, and ways to have healtier skin(I'm wondering if you have a service like that at all?). But so my skin check just consisted of checking for moles, and was over before I knew it. I've scheduled another appointment to come in and talk about my acne and hopefully get a chance to ask about other services that might be beneficial for my skin. Thank you.

Brittany and Dr.Pentel were amazing. Brittany went above and beyond with explaining the medicine. It is the first Time I have had a doctor give a positive attitude towards my psoriasis. Even if this doesn't fix it to what I need, it made my day in how I was treated and will most deffinetly recommend everyone to this place.

I had a biopsy done and three spots frozen off. I had more spots I wanted her to look at but she was in and out so fast and I felt I was rushed. My understanding when I made an appointment was that she would do a skin check. I was told the AS spots could not be treated. I had a friend who went to another dermatologist Friday with similar issues. They recommended a blue light and some immediate-acting prescription medicine for her AS spots. I have made an appointment at the other dermatologist. Thank you for the forum to tell you about my visit.

I am a patient who comes every 6 months and an occasional skin treatment and I have been introduced to a different product on every visit. I also would like to see Pentel occasionally.

To begin with, when I arrived I had to ask if I needed to provide my health card and complete additional info. Upon leaving the Exam Room Ms. Smith informs me that I am to pay the full amount of $220.64 (I questioned since I have Blue Cross (BCBS) what happened to co-pay?). She said this amount would be applied to my deductible. I contacted BCBS 3 weeks later to find out if the claim had in fact been filed against my deductible and was informed the amount I was instructed to pay by Ms. Smith was too much, when in fact it should have been $164. I do not appreciate the non chalant way MY money was treated. I should have paid the Co-Pay and then billed any additional charges.

I was overall satisfied with the level of service rendered to me. My only suggestion is seeing patients as promptly as reasonable for their appointment. I was there for my appointment approx. 15 mins prior to the scheduled time however I was not seen until about 20 mins after the appointment time. The staff was professional, knowledgeable, and answered my questions with clarity.

Thanks for getting me in ahead of my appointment. I was early because I attempted to avoid morning rush hour. As this was my first visit I did not know appropriate questions to ask. An itemized bill was requested and received after my visit. I was a little shocked that my health insurance did not cover more of the bill.

First of all my whole face was numb, when I only needed my left side to be numb, a little part. Second, the doctor didn't have control over the laser and left me a mark that looked like a Z above of my face. I'm really doing this w/this clinic because my laser sections already started and I can't wait to get out of there and not having to come back again. I had a better concept from the staff and the business. Not so much any more after my horrible experience. You guys are doing cosmetic procedure w/us, the customers, quality and good customer service should remain at all times.

I saw Danielle. She got to work 15 minutes after my appointment time. When I went back in the room it was not set up for patients (there as a stool propped up on the actual patient bed, lights off, random items in the chair?). I made my appt for "dermaplaning", only to find out when I got there that your office did not offer dermaplaning (although it says so on your website). This was odd to me b/c I was very specific with whomever I spoke to on the phone when I made my appointment. I even asked what the after affect would be (i.e., could I go straight to work) and the woman told me yes. So after waiting about 20 minutes for my appointment I didn't receive the service I'd made the appointment for. I also intended to purchase Latisse. As a new user I had several questions. Danielle couldn't answer any of them. Overall I was not pleased with my experience.

Thought I was seeing Dr Pentel, was never told I had to pay $100 to see her , no big deal since it goes towards the treatments, was disappointed in the fact that I didn't see her because I wanted her to look at my skin to let me know what treatments I should do for my skin type. Stacy was the one I saw... She is very nice nd knows her stuff, but not the same. You get the impression it's all about the money and you get recommended the most expensive treatments. I have an appointment there tomorrow so I'm suppose to see Dr Pentel for some filler. Hope it is a good experience or I will never go back. My friend Amy Moczul recommended you.

I need better meds for my problems (rosacea and psoriasis), but you can't give me what isn't available. I might add, though, that I shared some Taclonex samples with my sister and two friends, sll of whom had remarkable success and their doctors were unfamiliar. My ears are doing great, but scalp and elbows still itchy. You do try new items and make recommendations, but no real solutions yet.

The tech asked me about my concerns and the practitioner clearly did not read these and I felt completely dismissed when I tried to discuss them. This was my first appointment with Southside Dermatology, and I was disappointed at how rushed I felt by the doctor. She spoke very fast and threw out so many things at once that it was impossible to grasp it all. I felt like she could have explained more thoroughly and patiently, and solicited more information from me about my skin history and specific concerns. She told me not to worry because everything would be written down, but the few notes I received at the end of the appointment weren't very complete. The medical assistant, however, did a great job and answered all of my questions. While this is nice, I would have preferred more individual attention from the doctor. I understand that you were behind schedule and didn't mind waiting, but I should not be rushed through my appointment as a result of this. I am hoping for a better experience when I return in 8 weeks, or I'm afraid it will be my last appointment at Southside Dermatology.

I appreciated the fact that I didn't have to wait. That was wonderful. When I see Dr. Pentel, she actually talks to me and tells me what's going on and thoroughly looks over every inch of my body. This visit, I felt lost and scared. A biopsy was done but I have no idea how serious or what we are even looking at. I was told I needed a chest xray but then told (by the front desk) that they weren't going to give me an order. When I asked the front office woman what changed, she just shrugged her shoulders. That sent my mind into a frenzy about what had changed. Is the biopsy something that means I have no hope so the chest xray isn't necessary? I walked out feeling totally uninformed and like no one cared as me as a person OR a patient. I recommend Dr. Pentel to everyone and I have never felt this scared and uninformed leaving her office before. I am so disappointed and shocked at the lack of communication. THIS IS MY LIFE you're dealing with!

I'm not sure who actually did my treatment. I had a silk peel on Wednesday morning. I am pleased with my service except for the wound that was left in the middle of my forehead. I have an area about the size of a dime right in the middle of my upper forehead that looks like it was just rubbed raw. It's starting to scab now but is quite red. It burned a little during the treatment but I thought it was normal as I have never had a silk peel before and didn't know what to expect. She did go over that one area quite a bit. I noticed when I got home that it looked raw. I can send you a picture if you'd like to see it. I don't think this is a normal part of the treatment though! If there is a certain way that I should take care of it, please let me know. I'm just trying to keep it clean so it doesn't get infected. Should I put some polysporin type lotion on it? I was recommended to use Refissa to use on my face for the minor dark pigmentation from sun damage. After I got home I read the info paper inside and decided I did not want to use this product. I did not even open the tube. I felt the side effects of this cream was not worth the results I might would one day get. I went to return it today and was told that this was not possible because it is a prescription. I understand that it is, but it is a product that you sell & prescribe to your patients, so it was not like it was for me alone. Had I known that I could not return it I would have take the written prescription so after I had time to research it in detail I could have chosen to throw it away.

Seeing as my appt was for 8:40 a.m., I can't imagine how behind the doctor must have been to cause such a delay. There was no apology for her delay either-- my time is as important to me as hers is to her. Also, I was chided for not making the right kind of appointment because apparently Problem A gets 6 minutes and Problem B gets 9 minutes. I do not feel I should have to divulge the purpose of my visit to a scheduler, who has no need for my personal health information. I view this revenue-at-all-costs mentality bordering on "annoying-enough" to consider another doctor.

On the day before the surgery I received a call indicating that the diagnoses was wrong and surgery wasn't necessary. This was very troubling and could have been avoided. Also, it would be nice if I could be addressed by the name I use rather than my first name. I use my middle name (Keith) not my first name Ronald.

I came in with the list of items I wanted to get new prescriptions for but she did not even discuss what I am currently using with me. Given I was taken back for my appointment 30 minutes late, I do not expect my late starting appointment to be shortened. She probably only spent 5-10 minutes checking my skin, then left in a rush without asking me any questions or showing an interest in getting to know me as a patient or what I am looking for in coming to her as a doctor. I will be returning for a biopsy as a second chance but will likely find another provider if the experience does not improve or make me feel more comfortable.

I had Danielle and she would make sure that my face, she would clean my face first using the clarisonic then proceed with the microdermabrasion or peel, but ever since she left the person who does this procedure does not even bother cleaning the face first. StarStarNo StarNo StarNo Star Surgery to remove the squamous cancer on my right hand —    (Patient since 2006)

The surgery to remove the squamous cancer on my right hand took place on May 7. I was scheduled for a followup on Friday May 18 to have Dr. Pentel look at it. I waited 45 minutes, then asked one of the staff when I would be seen. Within 2 minutes I was called back to an examine room. Dr. P. wasn't there. Part of the graft came out when the tape was removed to remove the stitches. I was instructed to come in on Monday, May 21 at my convenience so that Dr. P. could look at it. When the scheduler looked at the paper she said I was to reschedule in a week. I told her I was instructed to see Dr. Pentel on Monday. The system didn't allow an appointment to be made when it fit my schedule but we worked around it. On Monday, May 21 I was told that my hand is healing well, but Dr. Pentel did not look at it. I am scheduled for an appt. on Monday, May 28 and I hope Dr. Pentel will be available to look at it. Each individual on the staff is very good, but I sense a great lack of communication among them. Also, I haven't called in the last couple weeks, but as of then the answering system did not have an option to talk to someone if the call doesn't regard one of the options given.
