Continuing Frame Issues — VINCENT A.

Friday was the 4th time coming in for frame issue. Yesterday my lens fell out again. Every time I come in to get repairs I lose time and funds at work. At this point I’m looking to get a refund on the glasses. Doc is a great guy and he keeps me coming back, but front counter is not very friendly or welcoming.

I came in to have a loose lens tightened. Polite, great service, & without me asking at all; I was told my lenses had a couple weeks left on my warranty & they were ordering me new lenses. I've had these glasses just short of 2 years & have been very pleased. I will be back for my next glasses. Good prices (2 years ago) also!

This is by far the best optometry practice I have ever worked with. All of the staff are so kind and helpful and Dr. Oland really cares about his patients, the efficacy of their care, and overall just getting to know them/making connections. I was admitted for an emergency corneal abrasion treatment, and Dr. Oland was incredibly kind, empathetic, and skilled. I was in a great deal of pain, so I was glad to be able to get in the door quickly and get relief in treatment. I will highly recommend Soundview Eyecare to my friends and family.

everyone was so kind and caring. i was having a loss of vision and I was to able to be seen immediately, which I am sure that caused some juggling on their part. Dr. Olan is incredibly calm and reassuring and was able to ascertain the problem almost instantly. He has a rare down to earth quality and humility that made me feel respected and truly understood. he also was able to suggested preventive measures that would prevent any reoccurrence.

Wonderful staff, but Dr.Oland's prescription for my left eye was incorrect and needed to be changed. I struggled for a few weeks with the wrong prescription when it finally got changed I had to wait another two weeks for the lens. I had ordered a new pair of glasses at the same time and was excited get them only to find out that the lenses were missing a coating that I had paid extra for......so I am waiting again for them to get everything right.

The young lady that helped me was friendly, extremely helpful, and most importantly, she was honest in her opinions. From the moment you step in to the office, you’re treated like a lifelong patient. Front desk staff are professional and equally cordial. Dr.Oland allows enough time to assess your eyes and makes the appropriate assessment for you. His inventory is pretty amazing and I’m sure anyone would be able to find their preference for eye ware. All in all a great experience!

I learned about Soundview Eyecare from my insurance provider's network listing. I was unhappy with my previous experience -- my lenses showed cracks along the edges seven months after purchase. I was looking for a new provider. Well. Soundview Eyecare had me at "Hello, how can we help you." The shop was inviting. The staff was welcoming. The process of ordering new lenses and ultimately new frames was quick and professional. I like to know about processes I am not familiar with, and Sierra was responsive to my questions, readily shared what steps she was taking and why. Gave me the information I needed to make a good decision about my next pair of glasses. Sierra clearly knows what she's doing; and I got the distinct impression that she enjoys her work very much.

Promise I didn’t feel a thing! Sierra was very helpful in selecting my new frames. And the staff encouraged me to try as many as I Ike’s absolutely no rush. I highly recommend?

Been going to Soundview Eyecare for 8+ years and have always had a good experience. Never had to wait more than a minute or two, desk staff is always pleasant and helpful and the Dr is a nice guy who knows his job and will get you in and out quickly with no fuss. He's also got a good sense of humor and doesn't mind spending a moment to crack a joke and gets it as good as he gives it, always with a smile! If you have a sense of humor and like to get the eye care you need and deserve, check this place out, you won't regret it!

Everyone was super friendly & patient. They got me in 2-6 weeks earlier than anyone else could. Dr. Oland was thorough, very friendly & made the process easy. They also not only require masks, but the doors are locked & they have to let clients in (a good choice during a pandemic). And the waiting room was empty. They also take Provider One/Apple Health for the exam, and (though I chose to go with their regular selection of glasses) they offer a special DSHS glasses selection that have decent frames & can come in as inexpensive as the Internet budget retailers, but with in person service. I chose to pay a bit more & get glasses with a warranty. Also, DSHS is taking 8 weeks to make their glasses & I'm supposed to have mine 1 week after my appointment! And the glasses come with a 1 year frame, 2 year lens warranty. I don't expect any issues with the glasses (the only time i've ever had issues was my last pair from Narrows Optical; I HIGHLY recommend do NOT buy glasses from them. I went through 4 remakes, & still had such bad glare that they ended up refunding 2/3 of the price. The glasses lasted less then 18 months.) I strongly suspect I'll have a much better experience with the finished product from Soundview. They are also the lowest priced store for glasses I could find other than Costco (& for those on Apple health, they are potentially much lower priced than Costco). As long as the glasses work well, Soundview likely will have me as a customer as long as I live in the Tacoma area.

Wonderful service, each and every time. Dr. Oland is great with my son and makes him feel like every eye appointment is a fun experience. When I’ve needed to make an emergency appointment, they’ve always found time to fit me into the schedule. I always feel like my concerns are addressed at each visit. I had to have my glasses prescription adjusted a few times and I was never made to feel like I was inconveniencing anyone. Dr. Oland and his staff go out of their way to make sure you’re happy with the service you receive. Definitely not the typical in/out as fast as possible appointments you get from larger establishments. I would highly recommend :)

Took my daughter to her first eye appointment here, she's 6, and they did a great job with her! They helped calm her nerves and took the time to explain what they were doing and why so that she better understood everything. The Dr. also ensured I understood her prescription, when she should wear her new glasses and all that we could do to help her in this transition. He was great! She ended up needing to order glasses and that team also was absolutely wonderful with her. They seem to be going through a remodel so it was a bit messy but I'll take outstanding customer service for my kid over non-filed piles of papers and messy offices any day! I ended up making myself an appointment cause I was so impressed with how they were with her. Highly recommend!

Phone attendant asked for soc sec #. That made me uncomfortable and it wasn’t needed but complied for fear of being denied service or given sub-par service. Also didn’t understand that I bought a sapphire coating. It is cool and I like it, but photos reflect purple spots on the glasses. Kind of wish they gave me a check sheet with extras listed and explained to make picking extra features easier to understand.

I had damaged my lenses to my, "I just got them" glasses. I called in for an appointment describing in detail what happened. My appointment was set for just a couple of days out, in order to get replacement lenses. Well, it just so happened, my job had me do satellite work, state to state for a months using my older glasses. When I was finally done, I called in the office, asking, hoping that my replacement lenses were still available. They sure were, and the appointment, was made not days, but that same day. Not only did I get my new Glasses back, but the Doc even cared for the frames I was currently wearing. As soon as my kids are done with their summer sports, appointments are being made!

I like Soundview a lot. However, I bought very expensive glasses and have had nothing but problems with them. Soundview has made appropriate efforts to handle the problems, but it’s not working. I have a stylish pair of Tom Ford’s, very heavy frame, that sits lopsided on my face, not only obvious but skewing the line of prescription and my ability to see. They may simply be too much for my small face, but the ongoing problem is the hinges. Just not right. I live alone, no children around, there is no abuse to these glasses.

Very disappointed to find out I could not return frames. I only bought frames and realized that one set is too tight and small for my face. I’m disappointed that the staff let me purchase without checking or pointing that out. Was not told there was no returns. Only saw policy on my receipt when I looked to come return.

Soundview Eyecare is a very relaxed and comfortable office. Dr Curt Orland and the staff are very helpful and informative. While at my rheumatologist appointment I had told her it felt like something was in my eye and because of the concern of possible infection she called Soundview Eyecare for me. They got me an appointment within the hour. Dr. Orland found that I had scratched my eye badly during the night. Because it was Friday he gave me a way to contact him over the weekend if my eye got worse.

They are prompt and on schedule with appointments. Everyone in the front office is really nice and efficient. They work cohesively as a team, which was really nice to see and convenient for me as a patient. The staff is very attentive and supportive.willing to help whenever you need assistance or have any questions. Dr Oland takes his time to explain what he is doing or what he is going do. Dr Oland lets you know if there is anything out of the normal or if everything is normal. I would recommend Soundview Eyecare, Inc. to anyone looking to get their eyes examined or get a new pair of glasses or whatever may be needed.

Dr Oland has been our family eye care provider for 20 years. He keeps his knowledge base current and is well connected with other top eye care professionals and clinics to provide the most up to date service. We trust him to get it right (ie. diagnosing AMD and other eye diseases). He's very personable, but his eye glass shop is way more fun stocked with the latest styles and colors. This was my second appointment at Soundview Eyecare. I have found the staff to be friendly and quite helpful at each appointment. Most recently I came in for my annual eye exam and to purchase a new pair of glasses. Dr. Oland has been friendly each time and seemed to remember who I was even though this was only my second appointment. He spent time addressing my questions and concerns that I had related to dry eyes and vision changes. The staff are very supportive and during my appointment they helped me to find a pair of frames that I liked and that fit my style and face. They were also extremely transparent about what the cost would be and had already printed off my vision insurance information so that I could make an educated decision about price range for frames and what lenses and coatings I was interested and able to invest in. Additionally, during these current times of the COVID pandemic I personally saw that they are taking extra precautions and asked that I wait in my car until a patient had left to continue with appropriate social distancing measures. I also found their space to be consistent with state guidelines as they took extra precautions with cleaning and all staff and patients wore masks. Would highly recommend Dr. Oland at Soundview Eyecare!

The doctor and staff show a great desire to give their clients the best quality service and value. They have always gone above and beyond to make my budget work for me. Dr Oland has made the eye exam a very enjoyable and stress free experience. He does not do the switching of "this is one this is two..." so quickly that it is difficult to even focus, like most of the other Optometrists I have seen in the past. I highly recommend this office!

I liked the people and the doctor, but I felt sort of rushed, and lost track of asking him questions I wanted to ask. Also, the gentleman who seemed to be the one fitting glasses spent all of his time with only one woman, that he seemed to know, and frankly it seemed all they were doing was gossiping. It was uncomfortable for me to look around the small space, trying to avoid overhearing them.

Love my glasses. Best eye doctor on the planet. Was a bit put off by lack of communication. I called to see if my glasses were in after 15 days. I was told I would get a text if they arrived. Called again after waiting 24 days. Turns out they were in the last time I called. No one sent me a message and they didn't bother to check when I called the first time.

We have been going to Dr Oland for many years, even from the time when his clinic was by the Tacoma Mall. He is the most engaging, competent and entertaining Eye Dr we have ever had. Two quick illustrations- when my son lost his contacts on a trip to the midwest, Dr Oland overnighted him a replacement set that same day. He also caught my increased blood sugar before my physician did and probably helped me avoid some later permanent damage. I really enjoy my conversations with Dr Oland and look forward to every one of my appointments.

When I walked in I was convinced I needed Shaw lenses, but they checked my eyes (in more depth than my regular optomitrist) and told me to do exercises at home because they think I could save the money and get better eyesight in my lazy on my own. I'm very grateful for the honesty and saving us $$. Reception was very helpful in helping me try on frames.

The doctor was fantastic. The woman at the front when we checked in was polite. The woman who helped me after my appointment was rude and short. Did not want to help me through the process of finding frames. She did not explain much to me about my lenses at all. I felt like they just wanted me out. Which is what happened, I left and will take my business elsewhere

I am disappointed with this office for a $50.00 out of pocket charge they charge me every time I visit to try out a new prescription contact when I don't want or need a new prescription. Plus, the new prescription they give me to try out never works and I have to go back to my old prescription anyway. This $50.00 charge for no apparent reason leaves a bitter taste in my mouth every time I leave the office. They need to be more transparent about this charge so it wouldn't happen without my permission.

I came in for a medical eye exam as well as getting fit for glasses. Turns out my cataracts are developed enough to be removed. Dr Oland set me up with an office to have the procedure done. After that is done I will return to Dr. Oland for any other needs. I highly recommend him and his staff.

The lobby was very clean, but the exam room was the messiest I've seen for an OD office. There were papers cluttered on the counter near the sink, with some Junk mail on top, and the bookcase in the room also looked disheveled. I would suggest tidying up and filing binders/records because it doesn't give patients a good impression while they're waiting for the doctor to come into the room.

Be ready for casual conversation about big topics, and his personal opinion about those topics. Noting offensive or inappropriate, just not your typical small talk with an eye doctor. The exam went fine. I was disappointed with the young woman who helped me look at glasses. I want someone who has a real eye for what will look good on me and who is excited about helping me look fabulous. This was not the case and, not surprisingly, I did not end up buying glasses.

Soundview eyecare was phenomenal! Doctor was on time, quick and thorough. He was friendly and answered all my questions. The office manager was amazing. She took extra time to help me pick out a new pair of glasses... Which took a while 😬. I never felt rushed though. My previous eye clinic left a bad taste in my mouth, but Soundview Eye has really turned that around. I will deff recommend and take my whole family to this clinic.

I have found my optometrist. My exam was thorough and Dr. Curt Oland asked many questions, plus he answered mine completely. I was not rushed through the exam. The staff, from the Optometrist to the assistants, were very personable and friendly. Everyone was extremely helpful. They didn't have my contact prescription strength in office and said they would order them. I explained I would be out of town when my contacts were coming in and needed them. They very politely said they would ship them directly to me. They also said they would send the glasses. The Optometrist even researched to find a local place that could adjust them for me. Great customer service. The staff also made it fun to pick out my frames. Will definitely go back.

Even though one of their computers crashed and caused a 30 minute delay, they informed me of the delay and still got me out in an hour. The location was a little hard to find but was easy to figure out once I passed it.
