This experience was very good for a stressful situation. Having a stroke and losing most of your eye sight in one eye was difficult to swallow. Dr Bobby as most call him by his first name was informative with all information. He explained so I (Joan Clark) could understand. 5 star rating!!!!

My visit on February 22, 2023 was the first time I had ever been to your office and not only did I not know anyone there, I was just a walk in referred to you by my dentist, Dr. Hampton. Everyone was SO very nice. I just walked in because I thought I had pink eye and it was really hurting me. I was seen by Dr. Joe McMillan within thirty minutes and it turned out I had a scratched cornea. Dr. McMillan was extremely nice and took excellent care of me as did all of his staff! I live in Hazard, Kentucky and I will be driving to Lexington for any future eye appointments. You all are really the BEST!

I have been a patient of Simpson Optical for approximately 14 years. Since the recent change in ownership/management, the quality of service has gone downhill. On this recent visit, I was seen by Dr. Joe McMillan. His exam was very brusque and incomplete, and he ended up making a mistake on my prescription. After wearing the new prescription at home for a few hours, I realized that there was a problem, and the next day, I returned to the store in Beaumont (near my home) to see what could be done about it. Since the lenses I was given matched the prescription, I had to be scheduled for a re-check with another doctor. I was seen by Dr. Joan Nerderman in the Tates Creek office, who quickly found the problem with the prescription. I was instructed to take my glasses to the Meijer Way store to get new lenses. The Meijer Way store lost my glasses temporarily, which delayed having the new lenses inserted. All in all, it took 6 trips to 3 different stores and 18 days just to get glasses with an updated, correct prescription. Over those 18 days, I really suffered by not having glasses through which I could see clearly (I work as a freelance editor). I will say that most of the staff who helped me were apologetic, sympathetic, and professional. Nevertheless, this experience soured me on Simpson Optical, and I will not return.

The doctor went above and beyond to make me feel special. The doctor was extremely knowledgeable and was able to explain everything to me in great detail. The tech who worked with me afterwards took really good care of me as well. My only minor complaint is as follows: I can't understand as to why, when my insurance gives me a significant allowance for frames and lenses, I still have such a high out of pocket? You would think, that I can have a pair of basic lenses without out of pocket. That, to me, is greed.

I was worried about new floaters. I had cataract surgery recently, and Simpson Optical for my follow up evaluations. Floaters showed in my eye. I called early and got squeezed in; which I am very grateful for. I am also grateful that I got to see Dr. Sarah Chang; who is young, very thorough, very professional, and very clearly a bright doctor! I'm 62, I was wary of her age, but do not be fooled by her youth! I don't know, but I'd bet she was top of her class. Her service was EXCELLENT; an accolade I rarely bestow on anyone.

This was my first time at Simpson Optical and I was very impressed by the professional yet friendly atmosphere from the moment I walked in. Most impressive was Dr. Karen McMillin. She is the first doctor in 20 years to truly try to help me with my severe dry eyes associated with my Sjogrens syndrome. She even took the time to make sure I got an appointment to see a specialist related to the same. She also recommended a new to the market product. She seems to truly enjoy the work she does which showed, and, I believe, enables her to be so helpful. Also the glasses technician was very helpful. My requests were a little unusual and she went the extra mile figuring out how we could work it all out. AND, she did it with a smile and did not make me feel bad for asking so many questions. Overall, it was a great experience! I will be a return customer and I have already recommended Simpson Optical to several people in the last few days.

My eye exam of February, 2022 by Dr. Karen McMillin was excellent. She is thorough and incredibly professional. Not just for me, but also a dear friend of mine that I accompanied during her eye exam. My friend has some rather complex vision issues and Dr. McMillin took her time to answer any and all questions in an easy to understand way. Simpson Optical on Meijer Way is a very nice, clean, and organized facility. Everyone was very nice, friendly, and helpful. The nurse who did my initial exam was extremely knowledgeable and proficient. I was offered an ultrasound of my eyes which I have never had before. The ultrasound showed every aspect of the health of my eyes which was really good to know about. Then Dr. Lanum examined my eyes and explained the ultrasound to me. I felt this was the most thorough eye exam I have ever had.

Unfortunately, I haven't received my glasses yet so this review may be premature. I left satisfied, but them wondered if I actually ordered the correct lenses. I wanted the same as my older glasses and NOT what I got with my most recent glasses which contained the blue light filter and were much more expensive. I get a lot of reflection off those recent glasses and I am not really sure if it was the blue light filter or the type of lenses I got. I kept saying I did not want the same as the most recent pair, but the tech kept mentioning those as reference. Now I am not sure what I am getting. I am still hoping I received the correct ones like my 3 year old glasses had. My price this time was higher than expected so I think I am going to get the more expensive lenses which are horrible. I can often see more of what is behind me than what I am looking at with my most recent pair of expensive lenses with the blue light filter and did not want a repeat of that.

When I booked my appointment, I also booked one for my husband, but his was "lost" and he had to go elsewhere at the last minute. After my exam, I waited to be assisted by someone in the glasses area. A female employee in this area was incredibly rude, even later interrupting another employee who was assisting me in order to pass him a note, as if they were in junior high school. If I were spending $500+ on an exam, glasses, etc and this were my experience, I would be angry and horrified. Though I used Simpson years ago, I will not be returning.

Dr Lamberts is awesome with Maddox. He makes the exam fun. Staff is awesome. Both knows his name everyone we walk in. He has his girlfriend the lady who helps us pick out our glasses. Will never go anywhere else.

I have been going to Simpson Optical for over a year and have always been satisfied with the service I receive. The doctors and staff are qualified and answers all my questions and concerns. Both the doctors and staff are polite and seem to care about my vision concerns. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes when arriving for an appointment (I'm usually early).

As always, Dr. Joy is a joy! She always gives me hope for challenging issues. She is very open to researching and trying new options. She is so knowledgable and a great teacher, as well as an excellent Doctor. As always, all staff were courteous and accommodating, from making the appointment to checkout and everything in between.
