I am always very appreciative for the care and friendly service my family and I get from SC Dental Care. Dr Boyd has been my Dentist for many years and I trust him whole heartily with my families dental work. I usually get Twigh (spelling probably wrong) and she is friendly and personable.

To be honest, my last two visits with SC Dental care have been a disappointment. I personally know Rodney and his wife Pam and have used the dentist office as a result. However, the last time I came in the receptionist didn't even tell my hygienist that I was waiting in the lobby and they had to forego my X-rays and put me with someone else by the time they realized the mistake. This last visit, they had Dr Tavi(sp?) look at my teeth and she was very abrupt and impersonal. She said I needed a crown and when I asked for further explanation she didn't really convince me that is what I needed. After I was scheduled to have a cleaning done, where I waited another 30 minutes with no one coming to tell me that my hygienist was running late. So I left. There is just little to no communication, no one really up at the front desk, yet lots of people in the back. Having dental work done for me is a sensitive issue so I didn't feel like she really took the time to make me feel at ease.

The room got a little too cold for her and my mom was probably worked on a little too long. She was cold and shakey immediately afterwards but that quickly stopped. She was fine that afternoon but a little sore in her back that night and the next day. She may currently be running a very slight fever 99.5 at the most although she seems pretty peppy.

I felt dismissed by the office staff as I was checking out. The young woman who took care of my bill talked too fast and didn't explain the charges very well. I felt foolish for questioning the charges. I felt like I was hurried along. I also didn't feel like Dr. Tabby addressed my pain concerns.

I always feel comfortable and welcome when I go to SC Dental. Dr. Boyd has a great "bedside" mannor and is always clear about what the proceedure will be. Lina is passionate about dental hygene which motivates the patient to take good care of their teeth. The rest of the staff is friendly too! Always a good experience.

I was very disappointed that the receptionist never acknowledged me when I walked/signed in. She didn't even speak to me until I got up and asked her if the hygienist was running late. Her answer was "she should be up her soon". No apology for the tardiness when it was now 20 minutes past my appt. time. I love Dr. Boyd and the hygienists, but I have witness rudeness from more than one staff person over the years. Sadly, my husband switched dentists for this very reason.

SC Dental offers excellent service. I went looking for a new dentist after being with one office for 14 years. SC Dental came highly recommended by 4 colleagues. I went to the office to see if it felt "right" and met with Dr. Boyd. I couldn't have been more at ease. I am so grateful to find such an amazing team of professionals that are so caring, kind and respectful. They take the time to explain and make you feel at ease. They are VERY reliable & I have never had to wait when I go for an appointment. From the time you walk in and are greeted so kindly by Stephanie, until you meet the rest of the team to the time you walk out - you are Literally SMILING!I have been there for 2 years now & highly recommend their wonderful services. I had a great experience with the dental cleaning and always do. Every time I try to schedule an appointment for my next 6 month cleaning there seems to be a problem. I fly for work every week on Thursday and return on Monday. With that being said, Tuesday is an optimal day for my appointments. The problem is that they do not "open" the schedule on Tuesdays. What? I have to accelerate my problem to management to "open" the schedule. I do not understand why it is so difficult to schedule an appointment 6 months in advance. I have been coming to this location for years, and this is the most stressful part of the process. It is not the teeth cleaning that is the problem, but rescheduling for the next 6 month cleaning. The office procedures are terrible. The dental staff is the only reason I return for dental service. I am thinking of shopping around and not coming back. The worst part of a dental visit should not be rescheduling appointments.

The constant up-selling is getting old. There is no diligence in checking if your insurance covers something and there seems to be a policy of "pay us now and figure it out yourself on your own time". Customers need help understanding what's covered and then given the options without attitude. Quit rushing things just to get paid. Your check-out receptionist has little understanding of anything beyond setting appointments and collecting money; which is OK but have her stop acting like she does know as she clearly does not. The office manger is usually too busy to talk to me directly. It feels like I'm negotiating with a car dealer almost every time I check out. This is not just me as you've treated other family members exactly the same, independently. The dentist are great, some of the remaining staff however is very sub-par. My family is on the cusp of looking for another dentist.

We drive from Huntington Beach 4 a reason--dr. Boyd's personality and expertise....this is a wonderful dental practice. Dr. Boyd does not do any restoration without the need for it to increase his income as other dentists are known to do. He also gives the best blocks, almost a pain free experience when procedures are done. I also like J ohn his assistant who always makes U feel at ease and special.

Upon learning that I have had some extraordinary dental issues in the past, he concluded that he would like to confer with my former (out-of-state) dentist. I would have appreciated knowing that our regular Dr Butler no longer worked at SC Dental. On making the appointment for both my daughters to see Dr Butler, no mention was made that we would be seeing another Dr. Imagine my surprise and feeling like I had no control over whom we chose. For me, this is an integrity issue. I think when a Dr no longer works in a place, clients should be told so that they can decide if they wish to go elsewhere? Having said that, the Dr we saw was delightful. Had a wonderful manner with the girls and I'm sure, just as good as Dr Butler. I just would have appreciated the front office being upfront about the change BEFORE we get the treatment.

When I was done with Dr. Boyd and was waiting to schedule my next visit, I was SO excited to be able to have them schedule me for a cleaning ON THE SPOT! They had had a couple of cancellations/no shows and, instead of having to wait another month for my cleaning, I was in and out in under 45 minutes, thanks to Phong and the girls at the front. When I tell him it's time for a check up, he actually is excited! And with almost 20 yrs. now as a patient of Dr. Boyd, I couldn't be happier with him as my Dentist, and his associates to care for the rest of my family. I have been coming here since I was a small child. I wouldn't go to another dentist. Dr Boyd has been my dentist and I do not like seeing other dentists in his place. I feel that Dr Boyd knows me and my teeth versus new dentists who have never seen me before. Yesterday, I went in for a regular cleaning and ended up being told that my K9ms are aggressive and that they can be fixed with porcelain. I did not appreciate this because nobody, not even Dr Boyd, has ever said something about my K9's needing fixing. So now at 20 years old with a new dentist looking at my teeth, I all of a sudden need my K9's fixed. I would rather continue to see Dr Boyd.

I actually went to a specialist and left your office for about a year (I have been coming there for many years). Your office just couldn't get it right, even though I returned 4 times to have someone at your office look at it. There were particles left under the crown and it just didn't seem to fit correctly. After 1 year, it finally seems to be better. After this happened, I was so upset, I went to another dentists office, but wasn't satisfied with them so I decided that i was happy with the cleanings at your office. I decided to return. P.S. - on one of my visits for the crown, there was a women crying in the lobby and she said, "every time I get a crown done here, it is horrible." She said she was in terrible pain. (apparently, someone is not doing a good job on these) Maybe the dentist should do the fittings

Even if he was new...he should have tried to Take it out gingerly...and then asses my pain Tolerance and from there decide if the patient Can withstand the pain or not.....

I never dread Lena cleaning my teeth. She's gentle and really good at what she does. I was looking forward to a new toothbrush but was told that you were out of them. That was my only disappointment of the day.

Best Dental Experience I have had. Very friendly and fun and they listened to my concerns. As typical, it is to make money, and so they did push the need to take on many treatments that I cannot afford, but upon explaining my situation, they are prioritizing what is most at need so that I can at least take care of those issues.

I had a cavity (unfortunately), and Dr. Taby was able to fit me in right away. I guess I'm a special case, because I live 50 miles away (that's right, I like this dentist so much I travel 50 miles for her services). Anyway, Dr. Taby shows real concern in doing an excellent job and keeping her patients healthy and happy.

My only objection is that the hygenist insisted that she chart my mouth -- I have had this done once at my first visit but declined to have it repeated and did not want it done this visit either. However, the hygenist (Dawn) kept pushing and insisted that she was legally required to do it. I did not appreciate this pressuring since it has not been required when I declined previously. Please clarify for me why charting is a legal requirement for the patients. Thank youl.

Lena is an excellent technician and did a very good job of cleaning (periodontal maintenance). My overall problem with SC Dental is that every time I come in I feel extraordinary pressure to do dental work that is very expensive and perhaps not actually needed at that time. I am retired on a fixed income and cannot afford to spend hundreds and even thousands of dollars on dental care. Why are your costs so excessive? Lena does not pressure me as much. The dentists are the ones who excert the pressure. It puts me off and makes me think of switching to another more accomodating and empathetic dental group.

Even though I have been somewhat neglectful of my teeth and gums in recent years, I was treated very well and made to feel very at ease. When another patient canceled the appt in the time slot after mine, my appt was extended rather than having me come in for a 2nd visit; that's important to me (and my employer). Thanks for the great work and hospitality!
