I hadn’t been to a dentist in quite a few years and my sister recommended Oberlin Family Dental. Over the years I have had several dentists attend to me. In those, either the dentist was good and the techs and support staff were bad or other way around. This is the first office that I have been extremely satisfied with everyone from the Dentist to the front desk persons. The hygienists are great and everyone is so friendly and professional. They really care about you as a person and a patient.

As a new patient it’s always scary trying out a new dentist and dental team. The dental assistant and Dr Satterfield were extremely pleasant and gentle. They cleaned my root canal and placed a temporary crown with ease. The facility is clean and presents very well for potentially nervous patients. The music selection was also enjoyable!

Our family has been consistent Oberlin Family Dental patients for 18 years. (Since they first opened). Dr Satterfield is the best of the best dentist I’ve ever gone to. She is a great dentist, but just as importantly, she is very kind, extremely gentle, and most professional. As a resident new to Ohio on December 1, we had a lot to learn, including finding a new dentist. A friend recommended Dr. Satterfield at Ohio Family Dental. The earliest appointments we could get were near the end of May. Then last week they called and told us another patient had to cancel their appointments and offered us that time. Justina welcomed us and explained what she was doing all the time. She was careful to measure and record all the data, X-rays and photographs for each tooth. The she proceeded with the cleaning and examining my teeth. The ultrasound and water scaling was so much faster and gentler than the mechanical scraping I was used to. Then Dr. Satterfield came in to examine my teeth and confirmed that all was well. It was the kindest, gentlist, mast thorough experience I ever had at any.dentist.

I always get very anxious about dental appointments, especially when the dentist is new to me. But when I left my visit I felt so relieved. As far as I can tell, our dental care is good. I did take umbrage at my last appointment, however, at being spoken to in baby talk. I hope I don't appear senile. And when I am senile, I hope people will have the decency not to treat me like a toddler. Also, if I hadn't insistently protested, I would have been inappropriately billed for services my insurance covers.

Yesterday Justina cleaned my teeth with the new vibrating tool and applied a new fluoride mixture at the end. She complimented the cleaning and flossing job that I'm doing and explained about the value of using toothpaste specifically suited for (my) sensitive teeth. Super friendly staff, pristine and modern facility, caring doctors. I broke a tooth, and despite not being a regular patient, they saw me quickly. I had x-rays done and was given options that were explained in great detail, including what the costs would be. Nicest dental office I’ve ever been to, and I’ve moved a lot and have been to a bunch of different dentists.

I arrived a little early and by the time I sat down they were calling me in. That was a wonderful feeling! It took my mind off of what was about to happen. I have anxiety going to the dentist but this trip was a great experience for me. NO cavities and a great Dental Hygienist. I have been afraid of the dentist since I was a child (I'm 37 now and still terrified). Due to my fear and not having dental insurance for way too long, I hadn't gone to the dentist in years. Recently, I was able to afford dental insurance and I knew something was a little bit wrong. It took me months to even make the appointment. I didn't sleep the night before. When I got there, I just came right out and told them about my phobia and fears. Everyone that worked with me was patient, as gentle as possible, and checked in on me multiple times. It was such a relief to have an experience that didn't feel like I was being shamed or treated poorly due to my previous lack of care. We have a bit of a road ahead of us to get me healthy, but they are dedicated and understanding. I'm very glad I found this dentist and will be keeping them as primary dental care. A huge thank you to Dr. Melanie Satterfield and her wonderful team!!!

Everyone there was incredibly helpful! It’s been years since I’ve been able to go to the dentist due to no insurance (no universal health coverage, a shame) but thankfully my current job offers dental. The staff helped explain everything and answered my questions about toothbrushes and other dental care products. Glad I can finally take care of my teeth properly!

In my opinion, Dr. Satterfield and staff are the absolute best anywhere in the profession of dentistry. Our family has been going there for 15 years and I can’t imagine going anywhere else. I have been a patient for a long time. I have to say after my cleaning yesterday I have never been that unhappy. The dental hygienist was the worst I have ever had. If she was your only hygienist you had I would not come for my dental needs to your office. She used the rinse water pic [not sure if that is what it is called] right from the get go. Leaving it in my mouth running while working on cleaning my teeth, and the water was splashing all over my face. I do not ever remember a hygienist using that while cleaning. She was very rushed, and also rough. Even when she flossed my teeth it was not done properly. Did not even go up and down on each side of the gum line, just in and out very quickly. I was actually going to call and leave you a personal voicemail today because I was so dissatisfied with the cleaning. I will not ever have her clean my teeth again. Other than that I am happy with the cleanliness and Doctor Satterfield.

Although we have been in Oberlin for a few years, we opted to take our daughter to the dentist elsewhere first in case she had a negative reaction as she can be kind of intense about things. This was our first time to Oberlin Family Dental, and we had the best experience! Justina was our hygenist, and she was gentle and thorough and answered the many many questions my daughter (age 4) had about the process. We were able to have a double appointment where I went first, which was absolutely perfect so she could observe. Dr. Satterfield was also really great! We both felt comfortable with our cleanings and checkups and are happy to establish care here. For those with littles, there is a treasure box. :)

My daughter is deathly afraid of the dentist (due to previous experience at another dr. and office). The staff at Oberlin Family Dental were absolutely amazing with her. Justina deserves to be recognized for the way she handled everything, it was more than I could have ever expected. I was horrified by my child's behavior. She was very upset, dramatic, grabby and bossy but Justina and other staff kept their cool the whole time and calmed my child the best they could. This was only our first appointment, I have faith that over time, as I keep bringing her back to this wonderful staff, she will get comfortable and overcome her fear.
