My husband and I are LONG-TIME patients 2006 before. DR. ALFRED GALLIANI was our first and most admired family Optometrist. We were assigned to go to See Clearly Vision in McLean, VA to have cataracts removed, which was a beautiful uneventful experience. We, however, decided to return to NVDO, which is closer in location. We found out, you were not in the same location and were lost, called the office to explain, had to wait for directions, which caused us to be late. One of the receptionists, did not have the compassionate understanding that we felt that she could have had, noting that we were disturbed because of our tardiness. Another receptionist came to our rescue and made it better. The beginning was disturbing; we finished our visit very happy. Your receptionists may be more sensitive to clients' needs and feelings.

I have been going to NVDO for years, they are prompt, courteous and professional. I love the fact that they stock beautiful frames that you don't find everywhere. When I had problems with one of my eyes they made sure I could get in right away and explained what was going on. I knew I was in good hands. If you are looking for eyecare, this is the place!

This is the second location I've visited and it seems that they just change the personnel and maintain the service. I felt, was treated and experienced the same level at this location as the first and it makes things difficult for me. I have relations with the staff at the first and the staff at the second make it terribly difficult not to like them.

Dr V, as those of us who are lucky to be her patients call her, is outstanding. I can't imagine using anyone else for my eye care. She is conscientious, pragmatic, competent, great doctor/patient personality. Her practice is very well run and they have offices in multiple places. I use their Crystal City offices which moved some time ago into a really great space. They have a wonderful selection of glasses, great staff, and easy validated parking in their building. Nothing not to like!

I had a check-up with Dr. Sparrenberger. The visit was great! My wait time in the lobby was less than five minutes. Dr. Sparrenberger is nothing less than amazing. He genuinely cares about your well-being and the health of your eyes. The exam with him and the staff of Northern Virginia Doctors of Optometry was very thorough and they worked extremely efficiently. I definitely recommend them to anybody looking for an eye doctor.

From the beginning to the end, everyone was very personable, good-spirited and answered any questions I had. I don't remember the names of the two ladies (one checking me in, one doing the different tests), but they were wonderful, and Dr. Look was fantastic! I love this office better than the Falls Church one (sorry!) because it's quieter and it just felt more personal. I'll definitely go back to the Crystal City office instead of Falls Church for all of my future appointments. Their 6 pm last appointment was also very convenient to my own office hours.

Northern Virginia Doctors of Optometry have been caring for my eyes and vision since 1985. Everyone in my family goes there, too. Each family member has different, and significant, vision needs and sees a different doctor, and all of us receive excellent care. The same is true about the opticians, clinical technicians, and administrative staff--they know their jobs and go the extra mile to ensure that we are all happy with our contact lenses and glasses and are seeing as well as possible. Because we have two types of vision insurance and we all wear both multi-focal glasses and specialized contact lenses, it can take a bit of effort to get the most out of our insurance coverage; however, NVDO has always been willing to take the time to get the best result for us.

This was my yearly check-up with Dr. Sapho Doan. As always, Dr. Doan and the technician who assisted her were outstanding. The service was absolutely professional, with both explaining each step in the check-up and its significance. In addition to being thorough in her examination and deeply knowledgeable in all aspects of eye health, Dr. Doan is very personable, and makes her patients feel welcome and well cared for. I left the office totally satisfied.

My appointment was not scheduled correctly because I was not told that my health insurance would not cover my office visit, but the office manager of the Crystal City location worked with the doctor to make sure I received the care I needed that day (a contact lens exam) and everything worked out great in the end! I'm so grateful that the staff worked to get me seen right away instead of having to reschedule me for another office visit on a different day. I appreciate their resourcefulness and the effort they put into trying to find out what the issue was with my original appointment. Thank you!!!

We've been patients of the practice for many years, and have noticed a considerable improvement in service and patient attention since Candice has become office manager. Most notably, the billing practices - which were difficult for a patient to navigate - have improved considerably. It is a pleasure to come into the office and be greeted by name, and to check out with a clear bill of what is to be paid by insurance and what is the patient's responsibility. Great work!

Hello - I am rounding up from a 4.5, which in my opinion is an excellent rating. I very seldom give a true rating of five stars. I found the staff to be welcoming and willing to accommodate a walk-in appointment. I have purchased lens and frames NVDO but have not experienced an eye exam until my last visit. The intake person was friendly and knowledgeable in their tasks. The optometrist was Cameron Jones, O.D., who was engaged and interested in my circumstance as a new patient. Many practitioners become entrenched in their methods, so to see one perk up makes for a successful experience. All this being said, my experience was pleasant and beneficial to my eye health. And, by the way, the facility was clean, neat and orderly.

Even though we moved from northern Virginia to northwest DC nine years ago, we continue to make the trip back across town for all our contact and glasses needs because NVDO are simply so caring and professional. Reception staff are efficient, pleasant and very accommodating. Miguel does a wonderful job of converting the paper prescription to ones glasses; he's very precise and thorough, and I've never had a problem with where my focal lengths fall within my lenses. He also has a good choice of glasses - something for everybody, even fussy me! Dr. Doan is wonderful: she takes the time to ask all the necessary questions, listens well, gives answers to all my questions, and is extremely thorough with my annual vision exam. And very recently I needed to calm my burning eyes and eyelids, and my local ophthalmologist was on vacation, so I made an appointment with Dr. Doan, who checked my eyes very thoroughly and was able to prescribe the appropriate medications to ease my symptoms. Great service. Much appreciated.

Everyone at the office was very nice and welcoming. The receptionist took time to explain directions on the phone. Once there, the examination was swift and doctor was very thorough. Then when selecting frames, the specialist was patient and helpful in choosing a style that compliments my face. Everything went smoothly. Was able to get an appointment for only a few days after I called. When I came in, I was immediately checked in and taken right away. Clinical technician was thorough, asking me if I had any concerns or problems with my eyes. I have asked to speak with my doctor twice, once only 10 minutes after my exam was completed. Without checking, they insisted Dr. Doan had gone home for the day. Promises to call me back on 2 occasions after speaking with Dr. .Doan did not materialize. I really like Dr. Dian but am considering changing to another because of the customer service.

I asked for costs from 2 different people prior as I had no insurance the overall out if pocket cost was very important to me. I received a range up to $165 for the contact lens exam. It actually cost $210 - quite a difference. This was in addition to the general eye exam which a girl dies not the qualified optometrist. When I questioned the cost the response was we didn't know. That cost is for category 1 and 2 but you are a 3. We didn't know your eyes were bad. If she didn't know my question is why the category 3 was not included in the cost estimate. Isn't it better to have a cost lower than expected...NOT $50 more!!!!!!

Very professional, I have great confidence in the doctors in the Arlington office. I've been going there for a number of years and have always bee happy with my prescriptions. Heredity makes a candidate for macular degeneration. They have the state of the art equipment along with top notch technicians to effectively monitor the situation. Everyone there is very personable and extremely courteous. The experience is like dealing with a good friend.

This office was clean and staff was professional, I would have appreciated a little more explanation regarding insurance benefits. During the exam, wasn't really given a choice regarding the part of the dilation exam that required the retinal imaging, which isn't fully covered by insurance and probably not necessary.

I started going to Northern VA Drs of Optometry about 19 years ago because I finally needed glasses, and my husband was very satisfied with NVDO. All their staff have been, and are, so professional, caring, friendly. Dr. Doan is so very thorough, patient and caring; she spends precious time with me until all my questions are answered. Miguel has patiently helped me through quite a few pairs of glasses over the years, always there to advise, to repair or tweak when necessary. I have never had a bad or uncomfortable pair of glasses, as they are perfectly tuned to my eyes and face. The reception/check-in/check-out staff are always courteous and efficient. Even though I moved from northern Virginia to northwest DC eight years ago, I continue to consult with this wonderful team of professionals.

Best experience I have ever had at any medical facility....ever. All members of the team were polite. Dr. Jones took time to explain equipment and extra time answering questions. At no time did I feel rushed or a burden as I have at other medical offices.

Dr. Sparrenberger was friendly and thorough. NVDO used new technology to review my eyes and walked me through what was being done and what I could expect. I came in for a consultation on tweaking a previous Lasik procedure. The doctor did not try to sell me a service I did not need. He even told me I did not need new glasses as my current pair were fine. I really liked the service. I am new to the area. Replacing my old trusted doctors has been a challenge for me. I am glad that I have found my new optometrist.

Really loved how Dr. Jones didn't pressure me into having my eyes dilated when I told her I had to go back to work after my appointment. Also, and I'm embarrassed that I forgot her name, but the woman who took my BP/ran tests was really wonderful and made sure to tell me about the $39 fee for the eyeball camera thing. That was super classy and coo'. And, because you had that, Dr. Jones was more comfortable not dilating my eyes, and that was great. The woman who checked me out was also lovely and very clear about fees and such. Thanks, ladies!

This was my first time visiting NOVA Doctors of Optometry. Everyone was very professional, courteous, efficient and helpful. They have some great technology, and the staff was very experienced at using it. My doctor was very knowledgeable, explaining everything about the exam and the results to me. And the eyeglass technician was super friendly and helped me pick out some new frames. And all prices, insurance, etc. was explained to me before I committed to anything. All in all a great visit. You have yourselves a new customer, and I highly recommend them

As a long time patient, I was disappointed that the parking location had changed and I had to pay $8 to park vs having the parking fee validated. The check-out team member indicated that an email went out in June. If that is so, why wasn't a reminder sent with my appt reminder? It is not reasonable that I was expected to remember an email from June in November, especially when I don't come here but every few months or so.

When requesting an appointment time online, it would be easier if selecting desired appointment times were linked with actual availability of appointments. That would be more efficient and may eliminate the need for a follow up phone call by a receptionist when my desired times are not available. I have yet to be able to use the online appointment scheduler without having to call and make an appointment in the end.

This is the best eye doctor's office. The office personnel are great from whether is making an appointment, talking with doctor's who take the time to actually listen, to getting a fabulous pair of new glasses. Collectively, the three Check in/check out team members spent over three hours untangling a snag with my insurance and enabling me to get my full benefit. (Not all while I was there.) I offered to pay for their lunches, since they had worked through their lunch hours to help me, and they graciously turned me down. They clearly have a good relationship with Dr. Vroustouris, who is the best eye doctor I've found through the 40 years I've lived and worked in this area. That's why I recommend this team to all my friends!

I don't understand why the doctor prescribed me drops that cost $220 dollars and when I called to complain he changed it to a $15.00 prescription . Why didn't he offer me the less expensive one first or at least tell me I had two options? Are the doctors making commissions on giving patients needlessly expensive medicine ? The only problem I had was when I tried to leave the new parking garage. Although my parking ticket was suppose to be validated, when I got to the unmanned toll machine it said I owed over $21.00. Luckily no one was behind me, so I could backup and make a u-turn. The staff re-validated the ticket and the second time, it worked. Since the exit machine is unmanned, it is very important that the validation should work.

the attitude with the individual who checked me in and out had room to improve. She acted if she was too busy to acknowledge me. The technician spoke so fact I hardly understood what she was asking - so I stopped paying attention to her midway through the exam. The Dr. had the gentleman adjust my glasses (the dots). He was apparently under the weather because the entire time he kept snuffing which turned my stomach. I felt as if I should scrub my glasses after he handled them - but I knew he used a cleanser because they smelted light amonia.

Over the many years I have been under NVDO's excelent eye care there have been numerous scheduling issues or misplaced records no matter what office I saw whether it was Loeman's or Crystal City. I am being monitored for an increased IOP for the last 5 years+. My Dr. noticed a change in my IOP in June(? 2015) and wanted to see me for a recheck. I was given an appt. but when I showed up they were surprised that I was there and they had NO record of me having an appt. that day for IOP check. they rescheduled for the next available which was a week or so later and because of a scheduling conflict when I called to reschedule that they HAD NO APPOINTMENT FOR ME that day either which made twice in a row. They rescheduled for another week away and I was happy that I was on the schedule when I arrived. I am scheduled for August 4 at around 930am. I recieved EMAILS and texts to verify this appt and the very last appointment.....I am satisfied that the staff is making a concerted effort to improve the service.......

I am sorry to say that on this occasion your service was less than exemplary. During my exam, Dr. S noticed the technician had confused my records with someone with a similar name. Had the Dr not caught it, may have resulted in changes to my records that would have applied to someone else. During check out, the staff didn't properly consider my insurances thus causing me to pay a co-pay that would have been coverd by my secondary insurance. When I called on this the staff again confused me with another patient causing me to hold extensively.

When I called and asked about the pricing of this visit, I was not told about the "contact lens evaluation fee" (130.) I would have appreciated knowing about this in advance, as I would have chosen a different provider or opted out of this service. I've been wearing the same brand of contacts for ten years, with no problems, so it feels like a ripoff. My insurance did not cover the majority of this fee. I returned today to see if I could get the fee reduced or a credit on my account, and the person at the front desk was very dismissive (though not rude.) I will not be back, but (!) I am glad I learned a lesson about doing my research before trying a new optometrist and asking for every detail in advance. :)
