Staff was welcoming. Unfortunately I didn't feel I could fully trust all of what was "diagnosed". I do not buy products from the same source that says I need them. Feels like a sales pitch to me. I don't think I will go back to this practice.

There was a slight mix up and after driving 1 hour through horrible thunder storm, I reached the office to find out my appointment was not scheduled. The staff was very understanding and within a few minutes I was able to have my exam with DR White. Awesome!

Hi, I am a new patient at Nova Vision. I was recommended by a good friend of mine who takes one of her children there. I very impressed with the level of care and concern I received from this place.Even from the very beginning when I contacted them to see if they could give me an appointment for the same day, the girl who answered the phone was very kind and patient as I explained to her what had been going on with my eyes since the weekend. The entire experience from the making of the appointment to seeing the Opthalmologist was great! All of the staff that works there at Nova Vision were warm,friendly and kind. Everything was good, from the exams to the selection of frames, etc. However, when one hears "7-10 business days" for turnaround, that expectation is molded. I'm a firm believer in not making promises you don't have control over the outcome. My wife's did not arrive until near the end of the 11th day, even after the holiday. I suggest buffering the turnaround with 7-15 business days, and adjust the expectation to deter disappointment.

The people here are wonderful. They are very thorough and explain everything in a way I understand. I came here 4 years ago with an emergency and I have been a loyal customer since. I have vision insurance through my work and even though they don't accept my particular insurance, I would rather pay out of pocket than go anywhere else. Bottom line, excellent care.

This place is awesome. Dr Busch is nice and explains everything as we went through the eye exam. The lady that helped me pick my frames was very kind and patient with me while I went over the frames I liked. Dr. M was great with my little guy. She provided a lot of wonderful information that I have not been able to get from several other doctors. I only wish I could have had a copy of the script or have notes sent to me, as follow up exercises she recommended at home were fantastic but overwhelming as I was by myself with the baby. Had an eye exam for the first time in 20 years. Apparently a lot has changed in the time! I was amazed at all the tests they performed to critically assess the health of your eyes. Dr Gilbert was helpful in addressing my eye health. He provided information and mentioned useful products without being pushy. Fortunately, I have good eye health but I would definitely return to Nova if I had any issues. I will likely return to Nova for check-ups....maybe more often then once in 20 years....

Dr. White, has always went beyond every aspect in her work. She is very through, if other test are needed, she will tell you to wait and see the results before a decision on a new prescription. Every one was very nice. If you asked a question they would give you and answer or they would get the answer or directions from the proper source.. Having a mentally handicapped person to work with, they were very patient and very kind. Each person that worked with her in preliminary examines, to the doctor, to post examination, worked very hard to get the results needed to improve our daughters vision.

I had a very thorough eye exam. Dr. Montecalvo addressed several issues that should help with eye strain headaches and dry eyes. I look forward to using my new progressive lenses that block blue light from the computer screen while at work all day. I went to Nova after one of my coworkers recommended them. I had gone to Just4Eyes off of Wilmington before and was so angry with the unprofessional treatment (rude and condescending) by their front office staff (specifically the blonde and the one with short brown spiked hair) that I was not going back. I went in for my eye appointment with Nova yesterday. Everyone was so nice and professional. They made the whole process easy and the eye exam was so thorough that I trust them. Dr. Roberts was awesome. My two daughters and I all need glasses and to be able to have a place to go where you are not getting talked down to and the staff know their jobs so well that the whole process with insurance is easy is a godsend!

I walked around for several minutes before anyone asked if I needed assistance. I even walked up to the desk a couple times, but the only person there was on the phone. I knew I needed to fill out some paperwork so I was annoyed with having to wait since I came in early to get it done. Other than that it was a great experience and the doc is amazing. He made it easy to relax and I left feeling confident that my eyes are in good hands.

When I checked out I was then informed I was charged for the eye pictures taken ($35). This should have been explained before the pictures were taken not after. They were kind enough to remove the charge but knowing before hand would be a much better practice to follow. Thank you Dr. Busch for another good exam!

I am not sure why I should have to pay $35.00 for pictures that were taken during my eye exam. 1. The machine malfunctioned numerous times during the exam. 2. The assistant was never able to get the necessary pictures to process. 3. I believed that when I mailed in my updated 2016 paperwork on 2/16/16 I checked the box that I did not wish have these photos taken because they were not covered by my insurance.

The only thing that could've went better would be the expense portion of the visit. Since this is so new to me, I really didn't know what to expect or have any previous experience to compare to. I didn't see it on your website (perhaps it's there), but do you have anything that talks about a "first visit" for eye care? I'm not necessarily thinking about a "first visit" to Nova Vision, but a "first visit" overview for adults or parents with children who may be going to an eye care location for the very first time. First, the physician told me I would need to have my eyes dialated and checked with no explanation of the process or side effects. I proceeded not knowing that I would not be able to see afterwards. I informed her that I could only see the outline of objects and she said "You are young. Your eyes will focus and you will be able to see." Unfortunately I had to sit in the waiting room for two hours for my eyes to focus where I could drive home. Had I known this was a possibility, I would have declined the service. When I went to check out the receptionist told me there was a charge for pictures that were taken. I asked why did they not communicate this prior to taking the pictures. Everyone was really nice and the facility is clean and well kept. However due to the two set backs I experienced I am unsure that I will return.

I think if you are going to promote something then you should have more information about it i.e. Shaw Lenses. Also I didn't like the idea that if you buy today with no info about what you are buying basically you get 30& off but after that then only 20% present that was a red flag to me...BUY NOW with no time to research it. Another thing when the pictures were taken of the internal part of my son's eye I was never told that the cost would be out of pocket and the insurance didn't pay for it. that should have been an option, not take the picture and then tell me I owe when I get ready to leave.

my 23 yr old son needed a routine exam-- I obviously didn't think I needed to go back with him but realize now I should have... he said that things were not explained to him-- for example no one asked if he wanted his eyes dilated--- a tech started putting drops in his eyes--- he was also not asked if he wanted or needed to change his brand of contacts--- the doctor told him to try new ones with no clear reason why he needed to change. these are just a few examples...not to mention they also didn't give him the option to get a photo taken of the back of his eye -- we know he has an unusally large optic nerve opening-- they didn't ask, just took the pic and changed us.

I didn't like having to update my own file using a laptop. A simple "Has anything changed to your profile?" would have been appropriated. On checking out I had to wait 10 minutes standing at the window before someone acknowledged me. The person was helping someone else on the phone and never did acknowledge me. I thought she was rude. Another person had to check me out. "I'll be with you in a minute" would have been appreciated.

This years visit was pleasant. My eyes were dilated last year and it took 3 days before they were back to normal, this year I didn't have a problem. The doctor dispensed the meds to dilate my eyes this time and not her assistant, which should have occurred last year. Your eyes are a precious gift and should be respected.

I'm more confused after the visit than I was before. The staff also made me feel uncomfortable when I asked for a copy of my prescription, it was very strange! The place was beautiful and everyone was very professional. Perhaps too professional. I felt like the employees were feeling very stifled and scared to relax and enjoy their job. This came across to me, your patient, and made me uncomfortable. And that reason alone would make me not want to return. The medical side was excellent and I understood what was going on with my eyes and my prescription choices. I also had quite a shock when it was time to check out. I was thinking my bill should be $10.00 and it was $149.00! The contact part was not explained to me and a poor explanation was given to me at check out. (It was later explained by another employee and I am comfortable with what the additional costs cover)Had I not spoken with someone else, again I probably would not return.

I loved my overall visit with the receptionists and Doctor Montecalvo was amazing! I unfortunately had a bad experience when trying to determine my insurance discounts and picking out glasses with one gentleman who was assigned to me. He was very rude and did not listen when I told him that I did have VSP but that you had to look it up differently. I understand that I had a discount plan after speaking with my comp but I was in the system if he would have just looked it up by how I was saying it. I just felt like he ruined my whole experience as a new customer and even after that fact, I went ahead and spent over $400 on glasses but it was with another lady who came out and tried to assist me as she was very nice. I will not come back to this practice again if I can expect this kind of rude treatment from someone who is supposed to help me find glasses that works best for me, not make me feel like a two year old by talking down to me or treat me like I cant afford a pair of glasses.

I questioned my bill to find out that I was being charged an additional $50 for a special kind of lens I didn't want. The advisor didn't seem happy to assist me in getting a different lens. I was also told that the doctor advised me to have this special $50 lens, but he said nothing about it. I settled for an additional $20 fee, but only because I didn't want to deal with the advisor anymore. I believe there were lenses that did not cost extra, but I was not given that option. In addition, the lady at checkout was incredibly rude, acting very unpleasantly when I was confused about how the sunglasses worked. The price of my glasses was jacked up to begin with, and the cost of the exam before insurance was ridiculous. I could go to Pearle Vision for $68 and have a much wider array of glasses. My doctor was incredibly nice, as was my pre-tester. They are the only reasons I might return next year.

Everyone smiling, friendly, seemed to genuinely want to help. Very efficient, timely. Answered all my questions. I'm doing this survey after I received my glasses. The doctor and optician both said that wearing glasses would be a challenge and require a significant adjustment, but I thought that meant learning to look through the correct part of the progressive lens. I had no idea I would have a fun house mirror experience when I put on the glasses. Side to side movement caused waving, and depth perception was dramatically affected. Went back the next day and the optician made adjustments that helped. It would be a good idea to tell customers to plan 10-15 minutes when they pick up glasses, see if any adjustments should be made. I put them on, said "wow this can't be right" and was told it would take time to get used to it. My fuzzy vision was definitely cleared up, but there is a trade off.

That didn't make me feel very comfortable. not sure about the $25 charge for contact evaluation? Is this something new? Dr. Busch asked me if I was still doing okay with them and I said so so and that was it. Was that the evaluation?
