I will never go back here again. They messed up my health insurance and charged me for contacts from 4 months ago AFTER they said it was covered! He said it was because of poor staffing, which is HIS fault, not mine. The owner is rude and if I could give no stars, I would. I’ve been a patient for over 30 yrs and this is how HE treated me.

Your glasses are way over priced. When asked how much to put new lenses in an old frame price was 465.00 I could get two NEW pairs for that price elsewhere, there for I will not purchase the lenses at north county optical. But also felt the eye exam was good.

Loved that we were the only ones there at the time of our appointment. It was nice not to feel rushed. The staff was very professional and they spent time getting accurate information about us. They were actually concerned about our eyes. Highly recommend.

I felt I was treated professionally and competently. My only concern was the cost for of a basic eye exam of $160. My concern was that I had insurance from Davis which was billed as about $50 when I ordered the certificate from them. After the appointment was made I was advised by your company first that they did not take new patients from Davis any more, just repeat patients and still later, the result of calls between your company and Davis, they said keep the appointment, they would charge it to Medicare. When I initially came in for the appointment, I was told the charge would be $116 but after the appointment it was revised upward to $160 which I reluctantly paid as I needed the data for my PA drivers license. If my charge was revised downward, I would improve the rating.

I was initially skeptical about a tele-med visit, BUT this may have been the best and most comfortable optical visit and exam I have experienced in 5 years. The technology worked seamlessly and the providers were professional, approachable and easy to communicate with. I am confident in this exam's accuracy. I need cataract surgery. I was told I had to get a new perscription for now. My left eye is very blurry with the new perscription. I need cataract surgery... I have insurance that will cover my surgery... For 3 years he has said another year???

I used telemedicine for my eye exam and it was fantastic!! The telemedicine people were so friendly, the eye chart section was all done via computer...The office staff is friendly and professional. I loved it and would recommend it to everyone!

Staff was welcoming,courteous, and professional. My family and I had the experience of doing a teleconference with the doctor; not at all discomfiting as we might have thought it could be. My only concern was that the reception area is rather cramp and did not avail adequate privacy when providing personal details.

My appointment was at 11 on April 6th, I arrived and waited until 11:30. I asked how much longer and was told the Dr had "forgot" someone and it would be another 30 minutes or so....I left and won't return.

Long wait time. There for 2 hours for an exam for contacts. That was without ever seeing a doctor. Glasses they had me out in were dirty, clearly not sanitized between patients.

I have been going to North Country Optical for many years. This is the first eye place that I have found that has taken care of me when it has come to my eyes. I love North Country Optical!!! The staff is wonderful and I hate having my eyes dilated and NCO does all by computer! In and out with new glasses ordered in 65 minutes. It was perfect!!!

Refused to provide an eye exam after I said I didn’t want the glaucoma test. American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends having a comprehensive eye exam every five to 10 years if you're under 40 years old which includes the glaucoma test. It had been at the most 6 years since my last test. I have no family history or medical concerns for needing the test so I refused that part of the exam. Since I refused, the doctor refused to see me as a patient. I will be going elsewhere from now on.

I was impressed with the care and guidance was given to guide me to a selection of frames, thoughtful of my budgetary concerns. I eagerly await my new glasses! The only reason I gave 4 stars was business hours, due in part to COVID.

I was a little disappointed on my last appt. I usually get in right away at the time of my appt. this time I waited over 45 min. I did not see anyone ahead of me, and noone else was waiting, so I was a little peeved.

Dr M’s office is very good. I have exams once per year and feel like he does a thorough job checking my eyes. Sometimes I’m not sure if he is pushing one product over another for cost reason or if he really believes it would work best for me (contact lense brands). He answers all questions I have and makes me feel comfortable asking them. His staff is great. When I was looking through glasses the woman there helped me find the right size and gave me her opinion on my style choices. It was nice being given the individual attention and care. It was in all a bit pricey as I don’t have insurance but I will say their fees are comparable to other eye doctors I have inquired with.

For patients of size there is zero seating available in the waiting room, reception, and check out areas without arms which forces patients of size to stand while waiting, and my combined wait time between waiting to be seen and then waiting to check out was around 40 minutes. Please add seating without arms to accommodate your larger patients. Additionally, my eye exam was completed via tele-health. I did not actually see or speak with a doctor at all during my visit. And other than a technician telling me my eyeglass prescription didn’t change, I received no feedback on my exam results, findings, etc.

I was recently seen for an urgent issue and was placed on the schedule the same day. The office was very busy but all staff and the provider gave me adequate time and attention. My first time there. Woman behind the desk was very cordial and welcoming. She was able to answer any questions I had. She took my glasses to the back to check the prescription, I think. She came back with them all tightened and cleaned. The only thing that I thought could have been different was the time it took me to see the Doctor. My appt. was for 2:15 and I never saw him till almost 3:00 but he was very nice and very thorough.

Service was great, and they made efforts to find the frames I was looking for. Unfortunately, I received mixed information on the purchase. I went in prior to my exam and asked if they price matched, and I was informed they did for local shops prices. On the day of my exam and frame purchase I was then told they did not price match even after I said something and showed pictures of the same product at a local shop for $20 less. Other than getting mixed information on the purchasing part and paying $20 more than expected, everything was good.

I have been going to North Country Optical for many years now (since they were at their old building in the Ames plaza as Pearle Vision). Through the years and changes, the staff and service received has remained dedicated to my eye-care needs, always taking the time to help me find the perfect fit frames and/or contacts. My insurance coverage and costs are clearly explained, with an offered additional 10% discount for cash purchase (non-insured). I often don't wait long to be seen and the office is clean with a family-friendly environment. I would recommend North Country Optical for anyone who appreciates a welcoming smile and friendly service!
