Dr. Matsunaga is very professional, friendly and approachable. He never makes me feel like my questions are silly.. He listens and provides extra supporting information when answering questions, and provides a big picture overview. His administrative and technical staff are very courteous and efficient. The office and exam rooms are extremely neat and clean, with pretty decor and natural,light. Always a relaxed, enjoyable and educational experience.

I had a very pleasant experience on my first visit to Southwood Optometry. Dr. Matthew was very competent and friendly, and spent time in listening to the issues regarding my visit. Also, he explained well his diagnosis and gave me good advice and alternatives as well. His assistant was very pleasant, friendly and helpful as well, and l left the office feeling well taken care of and confident.

Dr.Matsunaga and his staff are nice, professional, and efficient. They had myself, daughter and wife in and out all within an hour. That included having my daughter sized for glasses. They even add frames that weren’t fully covered under our insurance to the check up! If you are looking for a long term optometrist, Dr.Matsunaga is the one to see! The whole team is wonderful with children.

The moment I got to the office, their customer service is excellent. From the receptionist, to the doctor, to the gentleman who helps at the end with the glasses, I was extremely happy with how helpful and professional they all are and they are open late on weekdays and open on Saturdays too. I have been looking for a doctor and staff like this.

Scheduling an appointment was a quick and easy phone call. Upon arrival, we were promptly attended to and seen on time by the courteous Southwood staff. Eye exams are performed proficiently and speaking with Dr Matsunaga is a comfortable affair, I appreciate his skill and knowledge with regard to my eye care. Payment is handled without drama and we were underway in less than an an hour.

Trustworthy, reliable, and efficient. Can get appointment within a fairly short time. Friendly staff and doctor. I love that it is a small office where someone answers the phone! :-) One glich I encountered was when I tried to contact the office via a reminder email that I received. The email said to click a link to request an appointment. I clicked the button, but never got a call or email to schedule the appointment. In any event, it's super-easy to call and schedule an appointment.

Dr. Matsunaga and staff are always very friendly and helpful! They quickly got me signed in and after that only had to wait barely 5 minutes before my exam started. They were very professional in escorting me through the different eye examination machines. Dr. Matsunaga himself is very friendly and open to hearing any concerns you have about your eyes. Their office is very clean and they’re diligent about sanitizing the machines between use. Unlike other offices, you don’t feel pressured or rushed during the exam or when browsing frames. I was able to take my time and pick out the frames I liked without feeling like I was in the way or burdening others. One of the most respectable aspects is that they’re very honest about the pricing, they don’t try to hide any hidden fees from you that could pop up when you pay.

I went in for a simple update on my prescription after my boys and wife had their first visit with Dr Matsunaga. Appointments are ALWAYS on time, staff is super pleasant, and Dr Matsunaga is knowledgeable and professional. The boys' previous optometrist was great, with one caveat... any slightest thing off was grounds to sell you something or always book overly frequent appointments. Dr Matsunaga's practice is the complete opposite. Not at all pushy, certainly he and his staff know their stuff, listens, he's young (anyone is younger than me) and boys really like that about him and can more easily relate. That's a game changer, at least for us.

Southwood Optometry is a great place to go to get your eyes examined. The people when you check in are friendly and very nice. Dr. Matsunaga is great - very professional, warm and he made me feel comfortable right away. He is low pressure and understands that he and his practice are here to help you and make sure you have a good experience. One of the best things is there was no “upselling” about any item (glasses) or service, everything is laid out clearly to you prior to anything being done for you. The eye exam went very well. I was glad not to have my eyes dilated, since I don't like that part anyways. In the future when I do need it, I would like drops that are free of thimerasol, since it contains mercury and is toxic. I would also like more plastic frame glasses choices with nose pads, since I have a small nose and without it the glass hits my eyelashes.

Every one has been so kind at Dr Matsunaga’s optometry. Dr Matt is always patient and knowledgeable and it has always been easy to schedule appointments. But yesterday I went in for an annual eye exam and decided to buy a years supply of contact lenses. I was told there would be a rebate that would make the purchase cheaper. I wish I could have paused and asked a few more questions. The rebate experience was arduous. It requires you to not only sign up online but also mail in your receipt. On top of that, you don’t receive some of your money back (as I was told) but you receive a gift card for your next purchase of the same brand of contact lenses. My main gripe with this visit was the impression I got from the receptionist who made the rebate seem like a simple process to get $50 back on a purchase.

Excellent doctor and staff! Dr. Matsunaga and his staff work as a team to get your tests done. This office has a very calm atmosphere. There is almost no idle time. The receptionist who greets you may also do your peripheral test, etc. and Brandon will fit you for glasses and explain your options and charges so you’re not waiting to check out. Dr. Matsunaga is a wealth of information and extremely patient! He looks younger than he is. First hour of parking is validated.

Everyone was smiling and helpful. Professional atmosphere. Dr. Matsunaga wiped everything off with alcohol wipes as the exams progressed. So did all the techs. Clean environment. Price and the glasses section was also good. Wife picked out a frame she like on me. Overall, all good experience.
