The moment I walked into the office I was cheerfully greeted. Each person I came in contact with was very friendly, thorough and knowledgeable about their job. I then met with Dr. Darnell once he reviewed my photos/x-rays and he was able to diagnose my issues.

I have been coming to have my teeth cleaned for a couple years here, as I have adult anxiety with teeth cleaning. I don’t like the feeling or the sounds. Childhood trauma I guess. I found Dr. Darnell and his team and it has been easier to come have my teeth cleaned. This past visit my usual hygienist was not there, but their “sub” as he called himself (Fred is his real name) totally understood me and did all he could to distract me and make me feel comfortable. I really appreciated that! And to boot, no cavities!!

Would like to have a different technician as she stabbed in the lip. Also I floss and flush with water pic every day and she tried to get me on 4 month cleaning. I don’t need 4 month cleanings. This is 2 two times in a row she has tried to “sell” me this. I don’t need it!

Alyssa expertly and efficiently cleaned my teeth on April 13. She accommodated my allergies by keeping my head slightly raised so I could breath easier during my cleaning. Since I was finished with my appointment in about 30 mins., I could begin my errands sooner. Thanks, Alyssa!

I have a lot of dental anxiety. The sounds and smells remind me of childhood and I dread going to get my teeth cleaned. The staff at Dr. Darnells office are kind and patient. They listened to my concerns and they paired me up with the best dental hygienist. Because of her ability to clean my teeth without me having an anxiety attack, I was able to sit for Dr. Darnell and have a good check up. I will not be going anywhere else.

Somehow I missed an email explaining new procedures and significant investments in new equipment in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. But I've been going to this practice since 2001 and I trusted that Dr. Darnell and staff would be doing the right thing. During my routine cleaning appointment, I learned about team decisions that were made about revised protocols and investments in new equipment. I was told that it's such a new virus that the dental industry continues to research what measures are most effective. I feel we are fortunate that Dr. Darnell and his staff are tracking this closely to ensure their health, and ours.

I struggle with anxiety at the dentist, but Dr. Darnell and his staff are always great and empathetic. I had work done on replacing a crown and it was done quickly and painlessly. I am so beyond grateful for Dr. Darnell and his staff. I have so much anxiety going to the dentist and I avoid the dentist at all cost! But every single time I go in the girls at the front desk are so nice and the dental assistants really make you feel at home. And Dr. Darnell always tells you his honest recommendations and he gives a detailed explanation that I can actually understand. And he is SO gentle and cares about your comfort during the visit! I am so thankful to be their patient!

From the frist time stepped foot in to your office, I was extremely scared. Didnt know that the stuff would be so warming, welcoming and understanding. I have had a fear of going to the dentist bc of my past experience. Now as I'm getting use to going to seeing dr and his staff, I feel so much better. I would rate my experience 5 stars and more if I could. I’m fairly recently a new patient who came to Dr. Darnell for regular care and also with a possible root canal issue. The office staff and dental professionals are all outstanding and make you feel like you are an old friend on your very first visit. Dr. Darnell is great and very accessible to answer any questions and to support you through procedures in his office and any for which he has referred you to others for those procedures he does not perform. I am recommending to all of my friends. It was great to find a local dentist I can trust because I was traveling to Prunedale and wanted to transfer to a dentist in the town I live. I made a great choice!!!

I moved to Hollister about 2 months ago. I had no idea where to go when I awoke at 2 am with severe pain in my tooth, ear, and jaw. After a restless night with little sleep I got on line and started searching for a top rated dentist in my area. After reading reviews of several recommended dentists, I chose Dr. Darnell. They were incredible! Got me in almost immediately, cared for me with compassion, and even the office staff came to check on me and see how I was doing. Dr. Darnell is the best dentist I have ever had. He is professional, but warm and caring. He gave me a numbing shot right away. Then explained the procedure and process! If there were a 10 star rating, that office, both Dr and staff would still get 12 stars!

I’ve had so many problems with my teeth and my overall oral health due to a chronic condition that I have. I’ve been to many dentists in search of the right one. Since I’ve gone to Dr Darnell, he’s helped me and fixed some of the problems that I’ve been having with my teeth. He’s taken the time to sit, listen and come up with a plan to help me manage my symptoms and oral health. I would highly recommend Dr Darnell to anyone looking for a dentist.

Having been a patient at the practice for close to 20 years, I do continue to appreciate the courteous and professional staff. Front Lobby and Office is always tidy and aesthetically pleasing. The appointment text and email reminders help our family keep on track with appointments. I was lucky enough to have the same wonderful hygienist, Jennifer for most of my bi-yearly appointments, and although she recently retired, the new addition, Alyssa was as pleasant and provided the same wonderful care.

I can't say enough great things about Dr Darnell and his staff. From the time you walk in to the time you're having a root canal, you'll feel like you're in the right place. I had grown up disliking the dentist. I never had terrible experiences I just didn't like it. Now that I have had a fresh start at such a great place I no longer mind going at all. I even look forward to it! Getting a nice cleaning or cavities filled, I always feel like I've had the best care from everyone there.

The staff at Mark Darnell's office are all wonderful and a pleasure to be around. I used to have moderate anxiety when having any dental work done due to unpleasant experiences in my past. Since working with Darnell, all my anxiety is gone as he is an excellent dentist. I especially like the way they have acclimated my young children to the dental process. The staff are kind, gentle and very patient with kids and help avoid any unnecessary anxiety from the beginning. My son is 6 and loves going to the dentist.

As a 51 year old I've had my share of dental visits. When I was young I had some not so great dentist experiences. After going to this office now I actually enjoy my dental visits. My kids love this office and so do I. Terrific dentist and staff. Everything is neat and clean and welcoming. They treat everyone like family. Highly recommend.

I have always feared going to the dentist growing up because of dentists who cared little about their patients fears of sitting in a chair while being prodded and poked and medicated. For me it is early to say, I have only seen the Doc once, he was very therough in the taking x-rays and explanation of what he was doing, I have lots of work that needs to be done....so ask me again at a later date. Also Beth was excellent. I have never had such a good cleaning as she gave. She also noticed something on the inside of my cheek that no one else has ever noticed. I was hesitant to go to my appointment because I knew I neede a lot of work so my stress level was extremely elevated thinking about all the work and cost. After talking with the Dr. I felt better about my situation. The staff made me feel comfortable and welcomed. The staff was warm with their greeting and genuinely concerned with my oral plan. I would recommend Dr. Darnell in a heart beat and have already spoken of my experience to others

The staff was amazing and friendly, the dentist explained treatment and was gentle made sure I was comfortable even offered a blanket if I got cold! Also he called later that evening to make sure I was feeling OK and not in any pain, he provided his cell phone number to call incase I had any more questions. I was very appreciative for all they they did. Thank you.

I am terrified of dentists (yes, even at my age) due to some horrid experiences as a child and young adult. Even though my stomach gets tied in knots just thinking of going to any dentist, I have never had a bad experience here. My only regret is that I didn't have this great dentist, his hygienists, and his super office staff first!

The two caps that need to be replaced started out with a gold cap done several years ago and a cap next to it done by you. The gap between the gold cap and your cap was so big that large pieces of meat and vegetables need to be flossed out each night. It is this same gap that decay set in at the base of both caps and now they both need to be replaced. A $2,000 procedure needs to be done because of a large gap between two teeth. This seams like it could have been avoided to me.

You do a very professional and yet personally sensitive service in a beautiful clean environment. All the ladies are wonderful, compassionate and kind and Dr. Darnel is fabulous...first dentist who hasn't "hurt" me during a visit. I love the e-mail reminders for visits. The entire staff is professional and friendly! The only thing I would suggest is to play a little milder music for the patients. I find upbeat music makes me tense so I like to hear calming music when I'm at the dentist but that's just my preference! I love this establiahment!

My hygienist Jennifer F. is awesome and one of the main reasons I keep coming back :) Also the flexibility to have early morning appointments works well with my work schedule. I do wish that Dr. Darnell would consider becoming a preferred provider with my Dental Insurance, Pacific Health Alliance(County of Monterey)....more of my dental work would be covered under insurance. :)

I am fairly new to Hollister and my husband introduced me to Dr. Darnelk. I am very impressed with Dr. Darnell and his staff. The ladies at the front treated me as though they had know me for years as did Dr. Darnell and Vianeeta. I appreciate the professionalism exhibited by the entire team. I called the office early morning without having a scheduled appointment and when I explained my issue, I appreciated the concern by the person I spoke to, who immediately spoke with Dr. Darnell and then made a point to get me in so that he could assess the problem. I came into the office and was greeted with genuine care. I felt badly that at my own fault I had not kept regular visits with a dentist due to bad experiences outside of Dr. Darnell and his staff. Given my current experience, I know that I am in the best of care beginning with the front office. Thank you Dr. Darnell and Team, for caring about me and all your patients!

Dr. Darnell is always attentive and knowledgeable. I especially like that he takes the time to explain any x ray findings, causes and symptoms.
