Your hygienists was a joy to work with. Very patient, knowledgeable, understanding. One word of advice to Dr. Koo. You came across as a good man, willing to help an old guy with dental problems even if you hv to endure the red tape of the Veterans Administration. But when you said to me that I was lucky that this expensive work was free. That the VA is going to pay for it. Well Doctor I paid for this dental work far in advance of seeing you. Please do not insult me or other veterans that way. Hvg said that, thank you again for seeing me.

My rating is based on trust of Dr. Sam Koo and his staff. This is how my trust came about. I had a dentist (lovely man) for many years who kept his practice until shortly before his death. In hindsight, he kept fees low by not staying up with technology. We patients were referred to a dentist who found 4 major issues; a friend had the same experience. The advice was fix all at once (painful I thought). Use it or lose it I was told (insurance). Dr. Sam took an incremental/priority approach. My teeth issues were repaired over several years using two other experts.

My water jet teeth cleaning was a little more painful than usual with the mirror being pressed too hard against my gums at times. If my upcoming tooth capping requires any procedure other than the capping itself, I'm not going to be happy, as we've known for some time that there was a cavity below the existing cap. That tooth could have been capped last year, but I was told there was no rush on it.

I went in for my appointment on January 11, 2024; over 3 weeks ago.. At which time my teeth were cleaned wonderfully and it was discussed that I have a broken tooth that needs a root canal, I also need 2 implants and I believe another minor item. I expressed to the team several times during the visit that I wish to do all of this as soon as possible. I waited and waited and waited until I was finally told to leave and that someone would be contacting me to discuss the plan and next steps.... I have yet to hear from anyone. Unfortunately my broken tooth is now suffering and that side of my mouth is not doing well.

My teeth cleaning, using the state of the art water jet method, went very well, as expected. Dr. Koo is clearly not trying to suggest procedures that are not currently needed. I visited this Mcarthur Dentistry more than 15 visits. The front staff(Vivian) is professional with kind greetings and a future schedule of my tooth. During my dental cleaning, another Vivian gave me instructions on how to maintain the tooth. After cleaning, Dr Koo double-checked the status of my tooth. Thanks for his feedback.

As someone who has sever anxiety with going to the dentist it was really nice to find a place with staff that cares. I struggle with going to see the dentist due to bad past experiences and the staff is always very understanding of me being anxious and are also very kind. They do not push your limits and always ask if you’re comfortable or in any pain.

Once again, I had my teeth cleaned with Dr. Koo's water jet device, much superior to the old metal scraping method. He also recommended that we wait on some crowns that I know will need to be done at some point. Dentists who are primarily concerned with money would not be doing that.

Everyone is super nice and professional and informational. When I’m scared of driving in major rain 1 hr before appt it is no problem to cancel appt and reschedule. That means so much to me being the older person. Usually cancelling an appt that late causes upset in office part but no this office is understanding. dr koo is friendly and kind. And all the girls are the kindest and sweetest. I’ve never in my 62 years loved going to my dentist office. Keep up the great work!!!!!

Dr. Koo's excellent reviews on Texas Health Grades are well deserved. After my former dentist of 20 years retired, I tried a couple of others but found both inferior. After one visit, I'm having all my records transferred to Koo's Irving office and have little doubt that he will be my dentist for the rest of my life, as I am now 77. The office also uses ultrasonic teeth cleaning, which I had never experienced before, that is ten steps above the traditional metal tool scraping method. My gum exam was also not painful at all, very different from my past experience. They also take close up photos of your individual teeth, which is the first that I had seen. All staff members were also personable and very informative. All things things considered, I could not have been happier with my visit.

I was calling out of dire need and had been in much pain. With no insurance for dental I had put it off too long. As soon as Emily answered the phone I was immediately relieved that this might turn out ok. Her instructions on paperwork and setting me up an appt and her kindness was so comforting. At the appt the assistant taking the X-rays was super sweet and Dr Koo was awesome. I had not been to dentist for a while because of past experiences and my teeth have suffered. All of the staff are so polite and genuinely accommodating of your needs. Dr. Koo is GREAT!! He explains and makes sure that you understand what steps he is taking to correct your problem and gives you options on how you would like to approach your dental care. My prescription had not been filled at the pharmacy, so I called the after hours number and was contacted back within 30 minutes by the business manager and then by Dr. Koo himself. They immediately took care of perscription and wanted to make sure I was ok. I've never had that to happen with any past doctor's and/or dentist office. I was so impress with the level of care, that I have referred other family members to Dr. Koo as well.

Absolutely impeccable service. Everyone is nice and welcoming. I personally do not like going to the dentist. I've had such horrible experiences at other places so I was skeptical. However they absolutely changed my opinion. Dr. Koo is by far the nicest, comforting and most educated dentist I have come across. He made me feel assured by the plan. He was very nice. I've been going to MacArthur Park Dentistry for the last 2 years after moving apartments. They are a highly effective and professional team. Their reminder calls and emails are always friendly. I am always attended right away during my appointments. The longest I've had to wait was less than 5 minutes and that was only because I had to complete the new patient paperwork. I was initially told that they can accept my insurance, so I went ahead and set up my first appointment as a new patient. After x-rays and initial exams by the doctor, I was told that I needed deep cleaning and filling up of one cavity. The estimate of my out of pocket expenses given for this was approx $ 600, I was shocked and on further checking with my insurance company, I was told that the provider's estimate of $ 600 was based on out of network affiliation. If I was told right upfront that they are out of network, I would not have wasted my time and their time at all. I am upset that the provider's staff did not inform me about their being out of network upfront. I hope I am wrong, but it gives me the impression that they want patients at any cost.

They don't overcharge, aren't pushy, nor do they force you to spend ridiculous amounts of money on unnecessary dental procedures. If it is necessary to have further procedures they are upfront about what they will cost. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had at a dental office. Thank you so much for everything! I have been telling my friends and family about my positive experience. I finally found a dentist that I can trust!

Dr. Koo was great. I would like to leave some constructive criticism for hygienist Linda. I have had many cleanings in my lifetime with other hygienists and they have never been painful before, uncomfortable at times, yes, but never painful. Both of my cleanings with Linda were very painful. I wish Linda could have some further training in making the experience more tolerable. She is young and pleasant and should hopefully have a long career ahead of her. I will not be able to come back to her again. I'm willing to try another hygienist at the office. But if that doesn't work...i will have to look for another dentist. I am not submitting this anonymously because I really hope this will give you an opportunity to improve Linda. I've had a few situation where the receptionists wouldn't send documents ive requested and it would take me to call again and again for them to email them. I verified my email and I'm not sure why they took so long to do that. The lady that did my cleaning helped me more and had to go and talk to them so they can give me what I needed and she was more understanding that the others. I just think they just need to show a bit more of empathy to hard situation like the death of my grand mom and that's why I missed my first appointment, I love dr koo so I'm gonna still go and recommend my friends and family but just hopefully they can get things done fast and accurate.

It seemed that my needs weren't important to the staff. They gave me four different opportunities to pay out of pocket for things that should've been covered. The whole process seemed to be geared towards making the most money possible. The dental assistant said the doctor wouldn't bond a chip tooth even though I called and confirmed that they could before I came in. I will never return to this office. In my whole life, I have never felt so unsatisfied with a doctor. They typically listen to your desires and consider what you want. I feel like my time was wasted. I had planned on using this dentist for an implant but I won't return now!

He should show more care towards his patients instead of trying to make money. He was too focused on work that did not need to be done instead of fixing the tooth that did need the work and putting me out of my pain. By far one of the worst dentists I have been too. I would never come back or refer anyone there. And in the future do not make emergency appointments if your not going to complete the work-waste of time.

Could be a little thorough before ruling out any other reasons for my problem. I had a gum bleeding issue which can be caused by cardio-vascular disease or simple infection too. I'd have preferred if I was explained as to why those two were ruled out and only the tartar build up was determined to be the root cause. But overall really nice people and amazing customer service. I'd recommend them to anyone I know. As a matter of fact I'm going back myself.

I was in for a second opinion and Dr. Koo did nothing to go above and beyond to explain the difference in procedures or go in depth in his analysis of my situation. I have NEVER dealt with anyone with such a lack of communication skills as Dr. Koo. He seems like a great person, its nothing personal, but he seriously needs to learn to communicate instead of ordering, and informing the patient that "you are not a dentist...." No I am not a dentist, far from it, Im an engineer and all I wanted was elaboration on the different procedures and my different options so I could form a better idea of what was going on before I had someone perform a MAJOR procedure on me. Hopefully he will work on this.

Linda was my hygienist and did a great job! She was nice, courteous, made me feel comfortable, and explained everything along the way. I really think if I had a better understanding of things in the past I probably would have visited the dentist more and taken better care of my teeth. Hannah did a great job explaining the costs to me. Dr. Koo seemed very nice and trustworthy. Other dentists seemed like they only wanted my money which made me more reluctant to give it to them and made me question all the work they wanted to do. Dr. Koo seemed like he cared about me, my health, and wanted to fix things that needed to be fixed. Dr. Koo explained my issues well and showed me what needed to be fixed, which put me more at ease. Overall a great first visit.

I make sure I ask for Maggie in my next appointment. Linda is very rough not gentle. She had the cleaning instrument knocking my teeth when she is cleaning, wet my face and had her elbow resting on my hand. She just tear open your mouth with the instrument whichever direction she likes but not knowing it's hurting the patient. She was doing it so fast and it really hurts me. No more Linda for me.
