I am happy from start to finish. This was my first ever eye exam. The appointment I made was within a week of my call. Friendly, helpful staff. The eye Dr. was informative, I didn't feel rushed, she took the time to answer my questions. I would absolutely recommend Grass Valley Eye Care to family, friends and colleagues.

It just doesn't get any better than the customer service and expert optometry services I received. I often feel that doctors have "one foot out the door" and are too busy to answer my questions and provide clarification. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE with Grass Valley Eye Care! The staff took all the time I needed in a professional and friendly manner. My best recommendation is that I will go back for future services. Bad Experience: Incorrectly Billed Despite Concern — Travis C.

Eye services and optometrist were great. Upon paying my bill, I was incorrectly told that my insurance covered less than it stated in my benefits, leading to a higher out of cost payment for me. When reviewing the explanation of Benefits, I told Toni that she had misinterpreted the benefits available under my plan, and was over billing me. Toni told me that the billing auditor and manager had both reviewed my benefits and my interpretation of cost was incorrect. Today, I reviewed the full invoice from my visit, including all service billing codes with my insurance. My insurance confirmed that I was over billed under my benefits by Toni. I am disappointed that the staff didn’t take any actions to verify my benefits which I expressed before being incorrectly billed. I am now concerned that any future billing for services will not be handled correctly.

Always a long wait with more employees than patients. Always asked to do things my insurance won’t cover (up selling). Had to exchange frames because the color chipped off. When my lens popped, it was fixed and I was told I would need to buy new frames when my prescription changed because the frame was compromised. I feel like they only care about making as much money as they can from me and my insurance. I don’t even know why I went for an eye exam this year if I can’t get new lenses. My 4:15 appointment wasn’t over until after they closed at 5:30. The person processing payment could not have been slower.

Dr. Tanya is the best optometrist! Our family has been patients with her for over 20 years. Her expertise is extensive. She listens and explains everything. Because she had cutting edge equipment before anyone else, she was able to diagnose an eye condition I had very early.

The people at Grass Valley Eye Care were busy but took the time to be professional and polite. I felt they were effective, efficient and friendly. There was no eye dilation as at my last optometrist. They have the Optomap which gives great pictures you can easily understand. Dr. Bree gladly answered all of my many questions. If you are looking for good eye care, this place is recommended.

Unfortunately I was not told at the time of making an appointment that there was a new doctor on board. I have seen Tanya for many years and she is a superb technician. I was disappointed not to have seen her, because that was what I expected. However, in the future, I would prefer to see Tanya and not her new associate. If that happens then I would be very happy to return with services rendered at your office.

Everyone that I had contact with was cheerful and competent in every interaction that I had with them. Dr. Tanya is particularly noteworthy. She probably saved my sight at a previous examination when she saw something suspicious on my retina and referred me to a specialist who saw the beginning of a separation of my retina, which if left untreated, would have led to blindness in that eye. In my latest examination she showed me pictures of my retina, that she had just taken, and proceeded to explain the various components shown. Bravo!

Great office setting with professional staff to assist with my visit. The equipment used to check my eye health is modern and up to date with the latest technology. I especially like the retnial eye scan that can be viewed on the computer and checked against previous scans for any changes to the optic nerve and blood vessels.

I would have given a higher rating, but one criticism is that the optician that helped me place eyeglass orders promised to email a detailed invoice of the expense associated with the order the following day (3/16). It is now 3/30 and I have not received the invoice yet. Other than this, I got superior service.

From the moment my son and I walked in to GV Eye Care and throughout the entire visit, I felt exceptionally well cared for, by Tony, Amanda, Cynthia and Dr. Kirschbaum. The atmosphere was completely professional, yet cheerful, relaxed, and caring I felt that each person was sincerely doing their utmost to look after my well-being. As an 84 year old who does her best to avoid doctor visits, I am very grateful for such a positive experience and am looking forward both to recommending GV Eye Care and to stopping by just to say thank you to you all!

It took me six years of living in GV to discover a true dedicated professional, who could effectively and smoothly work along side of a patient with mono-vision and sever blepharitis. The entire staff is amazing, from the front desk who researched my new insurance coverage benefits for me to their optometrists who actually understand how critical a good fitting pair of glasses is to someone like myself. Can't recommend this team highly enough.

They explain everything and I have always been completely satisfied with every pair of eyeglasses I have purchased from them. I don’t mind waiting a couple weeks (usually it’s never that long though) to get my eyeglasses because I know that they will be made right and that if for some reason I am not satisfied with my glasses, they will make it right. They also have a fantastic selection of stylish quality frames.

The images done by Dr. Tanya's assistant provided the Doctor with the information she needed to clearly see my retinas and other structures and to determine the best prescription for my new lenses. She was also able to advise me on changes in my eyes based on my previous exams. I highly recommend this wonderful team.

You have ALWAYS given me the best of care and service. In the past, Dr. Meyers noticed something on my retina and sent me to a specialist to check it out. It turned out to be the start of the retina peeling from the back of my eye. If she hadn't noticed that I could have lost my sight in that eye. I am so thankful to her for noticing that and sending me to a specialist who fixed it. In the present, Cynthia gave me superior service in placing my order for new glasses. She checked, and double checked my line of site to make sure that the transition in the lens was at the correct location, plus, being very competent and very nice!. MUCH appreciated!

She then helped me understand my options for glasses and blue light filters. Your equipment apparently isn't capable of electronic transmission of Rxs. Mine was to be faxed, i was there Thurs. And this a.m. (Mon.) It had not been received at the pharmacy, so I called and it was being resent. Hopefully it will be ready for me before the snow comes tomorrow night.

I have been a patient of Dr Tanya’s for many years and have always appreciated the time she devotes to my appointment and her genuine concern for my eye health. I also receive excellent assistance when deciding on a good fit and comfortable pair of eyeglasses and there are always plenty of styles for me to choose from. I have multiple combinations of glasses for computer work, outdoor leisure, driving and reading and I am happy with every pair.

I learned of your office while taking my daughter-in-law in for an appointment. The current eye doctor I was with I wasn’t completely happy with it. I had my eye exam appointment with your office. Hello, I'm a "transplant" from the Bay Area and had been searching for an eye clinic that actually listened to their patients for over 6 years. Persistence pays off and I've found a dream in Dr. Stephanie Kirschbaum at GV Eye Care. I had over 7 eye operations in the Bay Area that left me with severe dry eye and some rather "strange" vision challenges. She patiently presented many options for my eye comfort and one of the OTC drops works like a dream. I can HIGHLY recommend both her and the entire welcoming staff at GV Eye Care.

It was an absolutely pleasurable experience to go to Grass Valley Eye Care. From the moment I stepped foot in the office until I left, I was treated very well. The exam and explanations were thorough and I was free to ask any questions I felt I needed to. Cynthia who helped me with picking out glasses was an absolute gem. My experience with the GV Eye Care has been extremely pleasant. Within the past 24 years in this town, I have been patients of two other optometrists. My experience with these other offices was tarnished due to the sales pressure to buy expensive frames & sunglasses when they were not desired or needed. Your office offers the same high priced frames & lens but the difference with GVEC is that the pressure becomes only information & awareness so the patient can walk away feeling good about their decision. It is a clean, friendly, comforting, professional office. The staff is knowledgeable. The diagnostic machines are modern and alleviate the terrorizing puffer machine. The good doctor knows her stuff and doesn’t try to up sell or induce fear. Highly recommended office.

Dr. Tanya Markis Meyer is an excellent practitioner who provides full-service eye care. During my annual eye exam this week, Dr. Tanya was able to compare photos of my retinas taken in her office last year to ones taken during this latest exam. As she reviewed the photos, she noticed an irregularly in my right retina that was not present a year ago. As a result and at her recommendation, I will be seeing an Ophthalmologist to evaluate further. I am very grateful she was able to identify the change so that I can have it investigated further and hopefully prevent any loss of vision.

I have always gotten great service at GV Eye Care. They have always been courteous and really care about giving me good service. I really love that they have the machine that takes a pic of the back of your eye so you don't have to get your eyes dilated and also have a new machine to check your eye pressure. No more strong puffs of air in my eye!

I was disappointed by the wait time. I took time off work, to make sure I was there 10 mintues before my appointment. Arrive at 3:50, my appointment was at 3:30pm. I was first assisted by the front office for my initial exam at 3:35, was placed in her office at 3:45; then waited for the Dr. for 30 minutes, she didn't see me until 4:30...1 hour after my scheduled appointment. I felt like my time wasn't valuable, and that is was perfectly acceptable to wait. If I had know It was going to be an hour before my actual appointment, I would have worked at least 30 minutes longer and arrived when I could actually be seen by the Dr. I love the staff they are very helfpul and personable, but the lack of respect for my time was disconerning.

Your front office service is dismal. My first appointment was not honored because the staff person did not check if my Insurance would apply. When I got there I was told I was a few days early to be covered. I, later, attempted to make an appointment two different times using your FUNKY website method and both were failures. Then I called for an appointment, and I had to leave a message for someone to call me to make the appointment. I never got a call back, Then the fifth time I got through to make an appointment. The technical service is very good

Just had my annual eye exam this week and as usual, Doctor Markis-Meyer was wonderful to interact and deal with. She is kind, professional, caring, patient, and extremely efficient. She is just a joy. Her staff is also kind and personable and I couldn't recommend Grass Valley Eye Care any higher.

Was happy with the whole experience until I got home. I am responsible for not taking the time to fully look over my receipt but it was never explained that one line item was not covered by insurance and was going to cost me 60.00 + dollars for something that I really didn't ask for nor need. The doctor took a lot of time to explain all the health concerns in my eye, the dispensing eye care department should do the same. Walk the patient through the bill, explaining all.

What an amazing caring place!! The receptionist and Mike went out of their way to get me in for an appointment. After a thorough examination I found that I had been given an incorrect prescription and could see better with new glass being prescribed. If you want a competent warm knowledgeable eye doctor this is the place to go. Oh and at the end of the appointment she even asked if I had any other questions. Thank you!

Aside from being 25 minutes behind on my scheduled appointment, everything was great. It would be nice to let patients know in advance if you are running behind, as I had to use personal sick leave from work to sit in the waiting room.

Dr. Tanya Markus-Meyers and her entire staff go above and beyond to make your eye exam pleasant. She uses state of the art technology to take pictures of your retina and “map” it to look for any issues. This picture can be compared to future ones. She thoroughly explains what you are seeing on the screen. The entire staff is so helpful, from ordering contacts, to helping with paperwork to obtain rebates.
