I came here because they used to take care of my mom and her glasses in her eyes. I like the location because it is in El Cerrito Plaza and I also like the fact that it is a smaller place. They have a wonderful selection of glasses, and they explain things very well. The sign in was a breeze on a tablet and I really felt taken care of. I had some questions and they were able to answer them.

The online appointment system is worthless. I showed up twice, convinced I had an appointment. But someone else miraculously cut in line and took my time slot. Turns out, you need a confirmation email for this time slot. Who would have guessed?! Ugh. However, Dr. White is awesome!

There is no doubt that I think you are the best. Smile. I believe that I might be blind today if not for Stalarscuk's quick reaction during an exam. I sent my daughter-in-law to your office because she had so many problems at the office she was going to. She is so much better now. I just have one point for me. Please do not discuss my full policy as to who or what is being paid by whom or how much out is the glass area. It is not private enough and I consider that a little more private. The desk is fine. I've had my identity taken and try to keep all of my info. as private as much as possible..

Overall I really enjoyed my time spent at my appointment. The atmosphere is efficient, welcoming and friendly (could it be because the entire staff consists of women?). The location is, for me, very convenient and close to many other places I visit so I may tackle multiple errands at once. Really liked having other color choices in a catalogue, and for just a $10 fee, being able to see the choice in person without obligation to buy. Staff was also very supportive when, after my eyes were dilated, I accidentally left my current pair of glasses on the sample glass frames board. (Those dilation meds always make me a bit disoriented.)

Love the atmosphere and the ladies in the office. It seems like a fun place to work and happy employees generally mean a good place to be/good service. Dr. Miller was nothing short of amazing, too, explaining a lot along the way. For those complaining about the "attitude" of the front office/reception area, while I don't wish to offend anybody, but, c'mon...are your feelings hurt THAT easily? Growing a thicker skin and letting "supposed offensive things" slide off one's back never hurt anybody.

My chart was not ready by my appointment. The receptionist was taking out the trash then touch the machine and the eyepatch without sanitizing hands. Working in the health profession myself, I felt that she did not review the infection control protocol. The doctor did not wipe down the machine prior to me entering the door. She had me wait on the side while she wipe down the machine.

Dr. Stolarczuk has been caring for my eyes for more than 20 years and I couldn't ask for better care. Anyone can be a good optometrist but Dr.S is a very friendly person as well. We want to have confidence in our medical care professionals and she instills confidence in the care I receive. Examining the eyes is one thing but fixing me up with the best eyewear is critical as well. I'm pretty picky so Sharon steps in to work with me. She helps to make sure that I get eyewear that looks good and meets my needs. When they arrive, she bends over backwards to help fit them to my face (I have one eye higher than the other which requires special skills and patience).

I am submitting this recommendation as my visit to Dr. Miller, OD, and El Cerrito Optometry was based on a personal recommendation. In all the years of corrective lenses and now, post-cataract surgery, I have never experienced such excellence nor satisfaction with the assistance, service and in depth education regarding the status of my eye sight. This appointment was to establish the outcome of cataract surgery on both eyes after a period of one year. I was extremely anxious about conditions suggested by the surgical team (expecting the worst). Step by step, Dr. Miller covered first refraction and then each of the eye conditions I feared pertained to me, demonstrating that I had no immediate worries. Further, she discussed the test results undertaken during the exam, so that I truly understood each condition in the context of my own eyesight. After the rather long exam process, the extreme anxiety I felt was resolved. On a further note, all of the support staff provided excellent assistance and service; and for those requiring reading/computer lenses, the practice offers a 'package' of lenses/frames for $100.00-- not glamorous, but practical. I sincerely hope that this review will help others decide to place their eye care in the hands of Dr. Miller and El Cerrito Optometry.

After more than one very unsatisfactory experience at UC's School of Optometry, a friend recommended Dr. Stolarcyk. (More than 20 yrs. ago) By enabling me to correct each eye individually (instead of getting bifocals or computer glasses), I was able to see perfectly for the first time. She's a total professional.

I just went in for a regular appointment which should have cost $10 with my insurance, but at some point in my check up, without anyone saying anything to me beforehand about an extra cost/fee, I was charged an additional $60 for a "contact lens fitting"? It'd be nice to be told that something is going to cost extra so I can decide if I want to do it or not, rather than doing it quietly, and then charging me afterwards. I'd have thought that figuring out what prescription my eyes need is part of the regular check up? At any rate it'd be really awesome to be told of extra costs, and fees along the way, so that when my allegedly $10 appointment is over, it doesn't turn into a $70 one. Thank you.

Mia Miller, O.D. is wonderful as a person and very skilled as an optometrist at finding and fine tuning the best refraction possible. Her clerical staff are friendly and helpful. On the day I was there they seemed to lack a trained and certified optician to help with choosing and fitting the best glasses frames possible. Another O.D. filled in there but was not as friendly and one or two of the clerks had to fill in on portions of the measurements and billing. As a person with poor eyesight, I found the new patient application difficult because there is neither a printed form sent out nor one available online to complete in advance. They cannot even email you a blank copy of the form. Instead, you are required to use an iPad device at their office and then try to remember all the details of the questions without knowing them in advance.After my pleasant consult with Dr. Miller, I wrote a thank you letter to the doctor and her staff and was told I could now go on their portal to view my records, visual acuity, IOP, lens Rx, etc., but they never gave me the link to the site so I still don't know how to access the portal. If they read this review, maybe someone there will contact me with those instructions. In summary, Dr. Miller is great, but more work is needed on securing a licensed optician, providing instructions on how to enter their portal for one's own patient records, and for new patients a way to do the form online or a way to download it and fill it out by had or with form-filler software. I was thrilled how much better I could see after the friendly and patient refraction by Dr. Miller.

Friendly and efficient service! I came in for a regular check-up and they took me through the routine smoothly. Their forms were all digitized (initial paperwork was on an iPad looking device) so no paper waste. All the equipment seemed cleaned and in perfectly functioning order. They even had a basket of free eyeglass cases if you needed one. Also in a very convenient spot (next to a Trader Joe's at a retail center) and parking not too hard to find even on Saturday mornings when you're competing with farmer's market shoppers.

I had a sudden problem with one eye and they squeezed me in on the day I called. Very professional and helpful. They take images of the retina so they can diagnose problems and refer you to a retinal specialist if necessary. It was helpful to be able to get this done at a convenient nearby location rather than having to go straight to a retinal specialist.

Horrible experience!!! My doctor was Ezumi who checked my and my daughters eyes she’s somebody I never wanna see again because the way she made me feel she never mentioned she’s going to put drop in my eyes that going to make my vision blurry for hours i left my toddler with the babysitter and she was texting me which I couldn’t see in my phone then I realize oh those are the drop she put and since I told her very clearly I don’t wanna have my contact lense test done I have enough contacts left at home and I don’t think my number changed or anything only for glasses is fine but she still did it without my knowledge and at the end when when I was ready to pay I found out she done it I was like oh really even though I asked not to that’s fine I took my card out to pay but office manager sheron heard and she asked that other lady not to charge me for contact test that’s okay I was like oh really meanwhile that Ezumi or whatever her name is came out of the room from behind and took my test papers away from my hands and told other girls she doesn’t wanna pay right! Means then she cannot have her test results either and I was so embarrassed that what is she saying she made other office girls inconvertible as well they just charged me for my co pay and I left! But I was so sad for some reason that what just happened I wanted to complain about her right away but I couldn’t see my phone to dial any number but later that night I downloaded some complain forms so I can file a complaint I wanted to call insurance and my other friends that never to use this place again until I called next morning and spoke to office manager sheron again and she was so sweet and helping that she ensured that I will never have my appointment with that doctor again and she there to help me with everything if it wasn’t for her I would have left !

I had such a wonderful experience here. The receptionist/assistant was wonderful and very helpful. The doctor was excellent. She was very thorough and took time to explain everything she was doing and why. She answered my question (I didn't have that many since she explained everything without me having to ask). Overall I left feeling extremely satisfied and happy with the service. I just wish I could remember the doctor and the assistants name so they can get credit for their excellent job.

I've been a loyal patron of Dr. Stolarczuk for about 20 years and it's because I trust her and value her opinion. One of her associates, Sharon, is the only one that can put up with my eccentricities so I have no choice but to return.

I've been using El Cerrito optometry for at least 15 years and they have been great. My optometrist, Dr. White, is thorough, explains well, listens and responds to any issues I've had, and is friendly and easy to talk with. The location is also good - an easy walk from BART on my way to or from work.

Dr. Stolarczuk at El Cerrito Optometry has been my optometrist since the early 1990s, even though I live in San Francisco and El Cerrito is a trek. She is highly enjoyable to work with, as well as a consummate professional. She is patient and very thorough. I saw her interacting with another patient during my visit, an older woman who was terribly anxious about upcoming cataract surgery. Dr. Stolarczuck calmed her with dispatch but without making her rushed. Staff, which have been spotty in the past, were very good at my most recent visit (Feb. 2018).

I like this optometry practice a lot. My only wish for improvement is, I'd like to get more interaction as the exam progresses. What the tests are showing, or what the doctor is seeing. Like, "you're still near-sighted, by this number, compared to your old prescription, which was that number." "We just did your pressure test. Normal range is (x to y), and yours is z." "Field of vision - you missed n number of the dots, in (some area of the visual field). Or no dots missed." "I'm looking at the back of the eye, keeping an eye out for (name things looking for). No sign of those. Vasculature looks (good? bad?)." "I'm putting numbing drops in your eye. (why?)" "I'm putting dilating drops in your eye. (why?)" Overall, I didn't get any of that, and I'm used to hearing details at previous optometrists. I feel like my chart may have the baseline or details recorded, but I didn't hear them.

This is an excellent optometry service. Dr. White is very competent and even picked up a small retinal detachment in a zone of my retina that is very hard to clearly see. The staff are very friendly, and they even offer two dietary supplements for vision support that are excellent (I'm an expert in this field). I highly recommend them!

I finally went in for my yearly exam and to my surprise the original Lovely ladies were still there. There was something different in the atmosphere; everyone was happy and to me that's a good sign. Seeing Dr Miller was great and she was on point. We don't want to talk about my prescription; I'm a medical necessary case if you know what I mean. But Dr Miller and her staff treated me as royalty, thumbs up to El Cerrito Optometry.

Dr. Stolarczuk and her support staff provide excellent service- Dr. Stolarczuk is very efficient and informed, but also caring and warm. She always takes the time to answer any questions in as much detail as the patient desires, even when you're the last person of the day and the office is waiting for you to leave so they can go home. Dr Margaret Stolarczuk listened to me, communicated clearly, answered all my questions about my current RX and eye health. Her exam techniques are more person based than mechanical based. She is the first OD to recommend taking pictures of interiors of my eyes to establish a baseline for any changes in future. Well worth the extra $39 because she referred me for a glaucoma consult just to be sure.
