Julia was my hygienist and as always I love her! She answered all my questions when I had them. Unfortunately I didn't get to see Dr. Dunlap who always chats with me and asks about my kids and life in general - personable! Didn't wait long at all to get into the room and was in and out within 45 minutes!

Can’t say enough good things about my recent dental appt.! Megan, who did my cleaning is always so pleasant, easy to talk to, knowledgeable and answers all questions with patience and honesty. Even though I had a couple issues, Dr. Dunlap did not pressure me but offered good advice and left the final decision to me. I have been going to this office for many years and the staff is top notch.

I started going to Dunlap Dental in 2009 when I moved to Pittsburgh. Before meeting Dr. Dunlap I had a ton of reservations and bad experiences with previous dentists. Dr. Dunlap the rest of the hygienist team always put me at ease and work their magic when it comes to comfort and fears. I always leave the office feeling good and thankful for meeting them because if I hadn’t, I’m sure I’d be lacking dental care! Mariah has been an awesome hygienist, I feel like the past 4 times I’ve visited, she’s cleaned my teeth. She’s awesome and personable.

I enjoy going to this office. The dental hygienists make sure to go over everything before they begin to work so that you know exactly what is happening during your appointment. Dr. Dunlap listens to any concerns you may have and makes sure you understand the health of your mouth. He doesn't rush you into making decisions but makes clear what is needed. Truly professional.

As always. Everyone took good care of me. I came in for my impression but I told them about the pain on tooth No.30. They immediately took an exray and found out there was a problem. Dr. Dunlap took a look and gave me an antibiotic and some pain medication and sent me to Precision to have the root canal looked at. Such excellent service. This is why me and my family continue to come to Dunlap Dental. The great perusal one on one personal service we get. It’s like a family.

I thought my appointment was for a cleaning and a dental exam. After being seated in the exam chair I was told Dr Dunlap was not there. Due to my periodontal condition, I am supposed to get a cleaning and exam every 3 months split between Dr Dunlap and my periodontist. Had I known Dr Dunlap was not scheduled to be there, I would have rescheduled.

Dr. Dunlap is the best and everyone at this office is amazing! They are great with me and my 8yo son, who has major teeth problems. Dr. Dunlap and his staff are always so friendly and kind. They don't shame the patients for what they see as lacking in the patient's home dental care. Amazing experience! I recently moved and Dr. Dunlap was recommended by a co-worker. Everyone was helpful and wonderful, made me glad I moved to this area and have fantastic co-workers! It's worth it just for the Dental Assistant who cleaned my teeth, she was really skilled, no pain and she took time to show me how to better floss certain teeth to avoid stains. All in all you can't go wrong although you may have to wait to get an appointment but it's worth the wait.

Having not been to see Dr. Dunlap for 5 years & having an emergency arise w/a tooth following knee replacement surgery just 4 weeks earlier,he set aside time to see me. X-rays were taken & the tooth needed to be extracted for fear of infection going to my new knee joint. He & his staff were compassionate as I was emotional. He referred me to an oral surgeon & I was able to get an appointment quickly. The office is clean & staff friendly. I would not hesitate to refer him to friends & family.

Really, had a cleaning scheduled couple days after Christmas. Was called day previous requesting change of office, I agreed. Went to cleaning, told hygienist was having an issue with a previous area.hygientist called other office for Dr to examine xray and potentially refer for a root canal. After the review I was told I had a second appointment two days after my cleaning appointment. Went to second appointment, never saw Dr mouth and area was never examined, second hygienist and Dr agreed that a root canal was the next step. Appointment was over! Was told Dr was tied up with another patient, and would be a hour if I wanted to speak to him!, ? Wth did they waste my time to make a second appointment to tell me we reviewed your xray. Go on your way and good luck! Complete BS! JOE

I am grateful for Dr. Dunlap’s dental practice. I travel great distances to attend my dental appointments. The Dunlap team works with me in appointment availability to meet my travel and work schedules. I’m glad that there is plenty of parking (no cost) onsite. The waiting room/foyer is very pleasant, with comfortable chairs and a fireplace - reminds me of the lobby of an upscale hotel. I don’t recognize a long wait although I sit in my car if I arrive 1/2 or more early. I’m glad they let me use the restroom upon my arrival. The restroom is always clean, with some awesome hand soap fragrances. I like the television mounted on the wall in front of each dental chair. I’ve never had a problem or dislike with and dental hygienist. I like how they tell you when you need to do better (ie brushing right top on back side, brush tongue) but do so in a positive, encouraging way. I like also how the x-rays are conducted right in the patient’s chair. With the television on as background noise, it’s more relaxing. I noticed that the x-ray chest protector isn’t as heavy as they used to be - this shows that Dr. Dunlap keeps up on new technologies that puts his patients first. I believe all that I said is true. Until my next dental appointment….

I gave this rating because while there is great service, I think the appointment reminder system needs to be adjusted. For myself, I write the appointment in my calendar app as soon as I know it. So the texts, the emails, aren't necessary. It would be okay if I received one heads up text. But I feel like I'm receiving a few texts, a couple emails, and it is just too much communication. To the point that I almost want to forget I have an appointment. Secondly, my previous dentist offered promotions of sorts to try the newest products. I.e toothpaste toothbrushes floss. I think that would be a nice touch to your office.

Best visit at a dentist ever. I called Docter John’s office because I just moved to Pittsburgh and I had Tooth pain.. he was able to see me within 2 hours. Let me tell you I have terrible anxiety for the Dentist, But he is so calm and explains everything so well. That my anxiety was gone. He showed me what was going on .. had a plan to fix it and I left his office relieved.! For me absolutely the best Dentist ever! His staff is very friendly and helpful as well. Would recommend him for 100%! Side note his Wife also have a practice in Gibsonia.!

No one is thrilled about going to the dentist, but since the first visit to Dunlap dental my family and I feel that we have found our dental home. They worked with me with all the restrictions/allergies that I have and never once made me feel like I was inconvenience to them. There was no lecture, no shaming. He was completely understanding of my limitations and worked with me which usually doesn't happen often in any type of Dr. offices. And I didn't even bite him. Was told I needed root canal and I needed to schd NOW by outside provider. so I could be put on schd for temporary crown etc! Had I of known about overbooking and schd ,I would have deffinitely chose a different provider, Poor first impression.

I travel great distances to receive my dental care from Dr Dunlap, including his dental hygienists. I am confident that this is the best dental office in Western Pennsylvania. In addition to the excellent dental treatment, I like the billing network as it’s keen on submitting bills in a timely manner but only after all payments are processed through the insurance — I’ve previously dealt with a chain-type dental practice that would submit bills before the insurance processed the initial bill, which became a nightmare process regarding overpayments. I also like at Dr Dunlaps’s office the televisions in each dental room — the background noise of normalcy (television) helps calm the sounds of dental tools in my mouth.

Initially I was a tad concerned about going to my regular appointment due to the covid-19. However, what's not to like? I felt like it was all orderly, sanitary and done like a well tuned military unit. Very professional and very attentive to details. In fact, with less patients at a time it felt much more relaxing in that the hygienist and Dr. Dunlap seemed more at ease to talk without being pulled away. I didn't even have time to watch tv since the wait was non-existent (darn). It didn't hurt that I got an excellent check-up but I do miss getting a new toothbrush. Thanks Dr. Dunlap team!

I was so happy after my dental visit with Dr. John Dunlap. I normally do not like going to the dentist but now - I do not have to worry! I was having tooth pain and I was able to be seen within a couple of days which was great. When I checked in at the front desk, Melissa (who I scheduled my appt with over the phone) immediately shook my hand and made me feel so welcome! The dental hygienist was amazing! (I believe her name was Amanda). I was nervous about my tooth but she made me feel so comfortable. She was very thorough and explained everything to me about my x-rays, tooth pictures etc. Dr. Dunlap then came in and I was extremely pleased with my exam. My previous dentist told me I had a "non decayed cavity" and I would need to have my tooth drilled and filled. Turns out this was not the case! I'm so glad I came to see Dr. Dunlap. His exam was very thorough, he was very polite and explained everything to me in detail. I felt this was the best dental exam I have ever had and I highly recommend this practice!

I have mixed opinions on Dunlap dental. My appointment was scheduled for 1:45, but I was actually not even seen until 2:17. The receptionist was friendly and Dr. Dunlap and his assistant couldn’t have been friendlier. Upon leaving, I was charged $50. When I asked the lady at the counter what the charge was for, she did not explain it well. For some reason, something that was done was not covered under my insurance ... according to the lady. Later, I called my insurance and the man said that I should not have paid anything and the dentist office should have told me ahead of time if there would be a charge for something. He advised me to call back and ask them about the charge again. So I did this, and the lady who deals with billing was very unfriendly and almost angry that I questioned again why there was a charge. No matter what, I can’t continue visiting Dunlap because their hours are not conducive to a working adult. But honestly, the dentist portion was great. The wait time and unfriendly lady at billing kind of put a damper on my first impressions

Again... another prompt and great dental visit! I needed to be somewhere after my dental appointment and was wondering if they could take me early. I was taken back within minutes of arriving. Dr. John Dunlap is the best. He’s caring, explains everything and let’s you know what’s going on during your appointment.. or his next intervention. I’ve referred several friends and even someone who works at an area store. They all love the practice. Everyone from the ladies working at the front desk to the hygienist.., they are all extremely kind and professional.

Good for getting a cleaning but very difficult to get a timely appointment. Also, the hygienists are constantly trying to "sell" you something...electric toothbrush, teeth whitening, etc. Also, I've never been to a dentist that finds a cavity and then makes you make a separate appointment at a later date to get it filled. I will not be going back.

Dr Dunlap and his staff are wonderful. My dental insurance forced me to find a new dentist an I am so glad it happened! Dr Dunlap is so thorough. His hygienist does an excellent job cleaning my teeth. This last visit two things happen that are so positive. First off, I am a white knuckle patient. I get in the chair and immediately clamp my hands shut. Now I can watch TV. I was surprised how relaxed I was...sounds silly but very important to me. Secondly, they took pictures of the inside of my mouth. I found this very interesting and helpful when we reviewed the picturesl. No cavities again so I left a happy camper! Wonderful staff. They are like family.

Had an urgent issues with a broken filling which left a molar jagged and a large space. As I was going to be out of town on business the next week, I called on a Wednesday to see if I could come in and have it taken care of sometime on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday before I left town. I was given a 1pm appointment that day, Wednesday. I arrived just before 1pm and waited only 5 minutes to be taken back to an examining room. I was out within the hour with a brand new filling. Dr. Dunlap and his assistant knew each others moves and worked quickly and efficiently to remove the old filling and replace it with a new one. This type of response and service is unheard of and would recommend the Dunlap practice to everyone looking for a dental practice that cares about your comfort, schedule, and your overall dental needs.

It would be nice to have at least one day when there were appointments available for school age children so they didn't have to miss classes to get their teeth cleaned. People at the front desk are nice to your face but they aren't so nice on the phone when they are cancelling your appointment.

Dr Dunlap is great as always. But large variance between his hygentists. Appointment was rather long for a cleaning. Long wait to begin with. Hygentist wasn't organized with all the equipment she needed. She made some good recomendations. But asked me questions from my last visit that did not match my medical history that make me think my chart had incorrect notes.

Megan was excellent. Clay said later that she was a great dentist (not sure he understands the concept of hygienist). He also said that the experience was "fun". Great way to start off his dental care experience! One thing that was a bit off-putting - a $10 charge to autograph a standard school form - really? Our pediatrician didn't charge for it. Nickel and dime charges leave a really bad impression and make me consider going elsewhere despite the excellent care.

We feel that as long as the form is submitted at this particular appointment and not just sent in at random times there should be no cost attached to filling it out. I took Dolly's appt on 6/10 due to the fact I had to cancel previous appt I had @ 7:00. Called the day prior to my previous appt to confirm I could be seen at 7:00am as I had job site to be at. Joann advd she couldn't promise anything as "we are very busy & will do our best to see you at your appt time" I told her I could not take a chance & would have to resched. She advd there was no appt available at the 7:00am time for several months & wasn't very accomadating in helping me to resched. I told her I would get back to her when I figured scheduling out as it didn't seem like she could fit me in. I commented maybe I need to find a new dentist where the scheduling was a little easier. Her response was maybe you do !

After the procedure, I discovered that my upper lip has swollen,and has become a painful open wound.The bleeding happens at regular intervals.Perhaps I may have more days to control the situation. I'm trying to figure out the cause. Is this a reaction to the chemicals, or the tools used during the procedure? I need an explanation. My appt. was 11:00 am. I sched this during my lunch hour. I did not get in to see hygienist until 11:20. I recvd txt message @ 9:00 reminding me my apt was at 11:00.If they were running late it would have been nice to receive another txt message letting me know. The cleaning was done w/in the hour so it wasn't a problem but it is frustrating waiting 20 min past my appt. time.

This appt was for a small boy and it didn't seem like there were a lot of choices in the treasure chest for a boy to pick from. And for a 4 year old, thats the favorite part of going to the dentist. Only other comment is we had our appt cancelled at the last minute. This seems to happen frequently and for a family with 2 working parents can be hard to cooridinate. It is typically very hard to reschedule with your office, but we were lucky enough to get an earlier appt the same day.
