I recently had cataract surgery at Dougherty Laser Vision. Dr. Balakrishnan is fantastic. The staff who helped me during several follow up visits was friendly, helpful and professional.

My initial visit went very well! As a new patient it would have been good to have been informed of a few things prior to my appointment, like not taking cash or needing my husband's SS# because he is primary on the insurance, but overall it was a very good experience. Knowledgeable, patient and friendly staff.

Everyone was super nice. I am very light sensitive and it is always torture to have that bright light shown in my eyes. They have a machine that takes a photo of the back of your eyes instead, so they do not have to cause me severe pain! The only thing I would do differently is write down all my questions beforehand as I always forget to ask them while I have the doctor there. But doctor Balakrishnan communicated very well with the questions I did ask.

I couldn't be happier with DLV. I went to the Westlake office and everyone was friendly and professional. I'm disappointed in my surgery. After two weeks, I'm only seeing about 20/30 and the feedback I get from the optometrists is that it make take weeks more for me to improve, if any, as apparently I have some irregularities with my cornea which I was not informed of before the surgery. The result is that it is taking much longer than anticipated to heal and I'm not sure of how it will turn out

As for the results, I will admit I do see 900 times clearer, but I guess I'm greedy and wished both eyes were as good as the better corrected one.

I appreciate all the detail your staff took in preparing me to see you. I felt well taken care of and the staff was phenomenal and Dr.Dougherty was so informed and made me feel safe. I feel I made the correct choice in having my cataracts removed. It took a long time but I feel my eyes are very important and wanted someone who would be through. Take a book or some work to have something to do between waiting for each test.

I am so very, very pleased with my 2 cataract procedures by Dr. Dougherty and the DLV Team. Everyone at the office — and on the phone— during my pre-op experience was well-trained, attentive, polite and clearly happy to be at DLV. I was treated personally, with the procedure explained clearly. Both the medical techniques, the options and the finances were clearly outlined and I went home with clear instructions all organized in a folder for me. The day of my procedure I was also very impressed with the skilled team at the WLV surgery center where the procedures are done. Dr. Paul Dougherty and the anesthesia Doctor went over my case with me beforehand and explained even more detail so I was confident to be cared for by them and the skilled team of nurses. Post-op I’ve had great exams and follow-up care at the DLV Office.

I got three requests for ratings already yesterday and returned one. it was much shorter than this one although I did get this one yesterday and deleted it. I didn't even open the one that was in my junk mail. I chose to see Dr. Dougherty for possible cataract surgery because he performed Lasik on my eyes about 18 years ago and I was extremely pleased with his work and with the office staff. Although my own ophthalmologist recommended someone else for this work I chose to see Dr. Dougherty. Too many mix-ups and delays left me feeling uneasy and almost nauseous after waiting nearly a half hour at my second attempt to the doctor I felt that I needed to leave and rethink my decision.

I was referred to Dougherty Laser Vision by my daughter. The treatment from all I encountered was exceptional. I felt a special connection with Dr. Sidra Qadri. Dr. Qadri was there for me after hours, and even gave me her personal cell number, which was very comforting. I also received excellent care from both Dr. Dougherty and Dr. Lee. I would highly recommend Dougherty Laser Vision to all considering any Lasik procedure. As a matter of fact, I already have!

I followed Dr. Vosoghi to your center and appreciate his excellent care. All of your staff are friendly and efficient, and the surroundings are very pleasant. Having to wait an hour to see Dr. V. was uncomfortable -- I am nearly 95, do not enjoy sitting in an office just waiting, and don't like to inconvenience those who provide transportation. The "wait" included a field of vision test, which Dr. V. said will not be repeated for 18 months -- that will save time. I have scheduled my next visit for the first appointment aftter lunch; that should help.

What an awesome and memorable experience I had this past Thursday morning on a consultation at Dougherty Laser Vision in Westlake Village, Ca. I appreciated the professionalism of the staff, the intern Lucine who had taken all my eye measurements, Dr. Kim and the visit by Dr. Doherty where he provided a candid recommendation which guided me in the best direction. I have decided and feel good about monovision after wearing one contact for the past (2) days. In monovision the dominant eye is set for distance and the non-dominant eye is set for near. Of course I appreciated the time Christina Henteleff had taken to set up the procedure, put my mind at ease by discussing the pre and post op surgeries as well as plenty of other pertinent information including a shuttle to the office. I am confirming both the Pre and post appointments in addition to the procedure. I wore the contact all day in one eye and had no problem!!! So I am looking forward to a better quality of life having both the ability to see near and far. Many thanks for making this such an informative process.

The whole experience with Dr. Dougherty and his staff from start to finish was great. All of the expectations were communicated clearly, and the whole day of my surgery ran very smoothly. I was given an estimate of time to expect at the clinic and was there for almost exactly the length of time anticipated. Coming from out-of-town, my husband and I chose to stay the night so I could have my 1-day follow-up at the clinic, and the staff arranged a room for us at a nice hotel so I didn't have to worry about adding something else into my planning.

The nervousness I felt the day of Lasik surgery quickly dissipated due to the phenomenal Dougherty staff. They are the most kindest, caring and professional people you'll ever meet. To name just a few, Amanda, Christina, Luke, Fabiola and the front office staff in the WLV and Camarillo locations. Then there's Dr. Dougherty. He's truly amazing! At my pre-exam appointment, he explained the Lasik surgery in a clear, concise manner. I have a corneal scar from an injury when I was a toddler and have seen many doctors over the last 40 years. Not one doctor suggested doing anything to improve my eyesight all those years. As a result, I completely lost my sight about a couple of years ago. Dr. Dougherty removed the cataract from my eye, and while doing that, he discovered other problems which he corrected during the surgery. It took him two more hours instead of the usual 10 minutes for a cataract and astigmatism surgery.. The next day I was already able to see colors and letters during my follow-up visit with him. He's definitely my guardian angel and I'll forever be grateful to him and his staff.

Emphasis was completely on steering me to the most expensive option available. I felt like I was being high pressured. Pushed into signing paperwork, rushing Dr. release and scheduling surgery. I had macular hole surgery and have found out that the surgery being recommended for me was actually dangerous. When I called back and said that I only wanted the basic catreact surgery I was immediately referred to another surgeon and had to start all over again. At no time during the entire hard sell visit was this mentioned to me. This was not a good experience and the impression I got was that if you did not pick one of the high priced options you were sent to the back of the bus. It felt like a car dealership negotiations. I was made to feel that if I did not go with the high priced option I did not care about my eyes. Coffee and warm cookies were great but more attention to the patients actual needs should be more important.

I was more than a little apprehensive about having ICL surgery until I met with Dr. Dougherty and his staff. They all made me feel welcome and secure in their knowledge. The night of my surgery, Dr. Dougherty took the time to call me and check on my status. The next morning, he also made it a point to come into the office (my follow up was on a Saturday) to personally check on me. I left their office knowing I made the right decision. I had checked out his distant competition first, but felt like his office better understood my needs and actually paid attention to what/why I was there. The other office did not -- they kept pushing Lasik knowing I was there for an ICL consultation. I would and will highly recommend Dr. Dougherty and his staff for ANY procedure relating to the eyes. They really know what they're doing; they really ENJOY what they're doing; in my humble opinion, there isn't a better doctor or facility to help gain better eyesight.

Overall, my experience with Dougherty Laser Vision continues to be quite good. Admittedly, however, over the last few years, with the opening of the new Westlake Village office, things seem to have gone through an adjustment period, and I stopped received my reminder notices about setting up my annual check-up. What's more, for some time, I was told that my chart had disappeared. I was also told that I would be contacted when it was found, which I wasn't. I suspect, as I said, that there has been some adjustment with the new office resulting in some clerical inconsistencies. But these seem to have subsided. Or at least, I'll have to conclude such if I actually receive my reminder notice to set up an appointment next year. Until then, it remains to be seen.

From the moment walking through the doors I felt welcomed and taken care of. The ladies at the reception desk were so kind and sweet. The office was gorgeous and had beverages and homemade cookies if u were having a bit of a sweet tooth :) as I started my appointment all the men and women that did test on me before my LASIK were incredible. They talked to me like a friend or family member, I could honestly feel that they not only love what they do but they take pride in making the patient comfortable. Doctor Paul Dougherty was my surgeon for this huge transition and constantly throughout the process he would take time to come and check and see how I was feeling and check my charts. He was so kind and gentle I was really assured I was in the right hands. As it got closer to game time I started to get nervous but once I laid down in the surgery room doctor Paul was so communicative I was able to relax and understand what was happening and about to happen. After we were all done I left the office with 20/20 vision!! I had never been so happy! Doctor Dougherty And his team are the absolute best and I would recommend them to anyone!! 💛 the gift of sight is a beautiful thing in itself but to experience that with caring loving people made such a difference that I am forever grateful for!

The very long wait for our appointment yesterday (over an hour) was excessive - especially since we have a drive of over 2 hours to get here. There was apparently a problem with Andrew's paperwork being at the Camarillo office instead of at Westlake which may have contributed to the delay. His original appointment was supposed to be at the Camarillo office but was changed by your office. Even though the appointment was changed to the Westlake office earlier this week, we continued to receive notifications from your office that his appointment was still at the Camarillo office. It seems that communications between your offices and clients could be improved. That being said, we are very happy so far with the results of Andrew's cross-linking procedure last summer and would still recommend you to others with a similar problem.

The receptionist was very scattered she was overwhelmed and seemed like she didn't know what she was doing , I waited an hour and 15 minutes. She gave me the wrong informations and I was seated at the wrong room. I was about to leave the office and never come back that Dr. Lee approached me and apologized about the situations. I had a problem with making an appointment over the phone also I don't know the name of the person I was talking to but she was acting so unintelligent that I had to request talking to someone else, I'm working at the dental office myself so I'm totally aware of the importance of having the competent front staff. As far as Dr. lee I had an excellent visit he was very professional. .

It was my first appointment. I came for an annual eye exam and was at the office for a total of 3 hours. I waited over an hour to get it in and another hour to see the doctor after he dilated my eyes, which only takes 15 minutes to take effect. Had I not waited for 2 out of the three hours I was there, it would have been a great experience. When I came out of the office, no other patients were waiting which meant the doctor had seen all of the other patients who came after me, while I was waiting in the room for him.

I am writing this review for my mother-in-law.She is 83 and and lost her right eye to glaucoma years ago.She had been told by her ophthalmologist that she needed surgery for a cataract in her left eye. He had been trying to convince her for the last several years that she needed surgery,but because of the loss of her right eye,she was terrified that she could lose her only eye to a surgical complication.I convinced her to come to California and we would help her find a great surgeon and we would care for her after surgery to prevent any complications and ensure she followed post surgical instructions precisely.I found nothing but positive feedback regarding Dr. Dougherty during my research. I contacted them and was given prompt attention by Fabiola and Misty. They were very courteous and professional and did their best to answer all my questions. Dr.Dougherty examined mom and told her that her cataract was not severe enough to warrant surgery now.Imagine my mother's delight!

Glasses and contact lenses had begun to be so cumbersome to use. Being very near sighted, I hated not being able to see what time it was on my alarm clock in the middle of the night or even seeing my face in the mirror when I shaved. Dr. Dougherty saved me from having to deal with those things ever again. My experience with him and his staff was excellent. They were so helpful in scheduling my appointment and responding to all of my questions and concerns immediately. Kristin and Natasha were a great help. I even got some questions answered by their CEO Renata. On the day of my surgery, I was well received in their office and did not have to wait long. Dr. Dougherty took a look at my eyes using a microscope. The operating room was very cold but they wrapped me in a really soft and warm blanket to keep me comfortable. The surgery must have only lasted 15 minutes. I had to keep my eyes closed for 4 hours and after that I was already seeing great. There was some halo around lights at night, but that mostly went away after a few weeks. If you're waiting to do this because you're scared, don't be. It was the best decision that I should have made long ago.

I notice that there is inconsistency in what I'm told verbally and what appears in the handout given to me....For example, I am scheduled for PRK. I was told to stop wearing my softlens 3 days before surgery and the handout says 1 week. I know this sounds picky, but Dr. Dougherty strikes me as sort of a perfectionist. Also, one of my roles in my previous job was making sure our company messaging was consistent. If it isn't it may appear appear to a patient that one hand doesn't know what the other is doing.

We had several problems surrounding this visit. Our original appointment was not made with the doctor we requested, it had to be rescheduled at a later date. I was not informed at the time of scheduling that my eyes would be dilated and I had to drive myself home after my visit which was very dangerous. Our assistant asked if there was any paperwork that could be filled out in advance, she was told no but when I arrived at the office, I had to fill some out. There were some other administrative inconsistencies that gave us some concern as well but the appointment itself was pleasant.

My visit was approached with excitement and apprehension on my part and I was disappointed that I shuffled from room to room three times during my visit and back to a waiting area etc. The cattle drive that was that office was disconcerting. Additionally no one really took time to analyze my eyes in detail. The standard measurements and typical vision assessments didn't seem adequate to come up with a diagnoses or remove my lens completely. My diagnosis was not specifically geared to me and the surgeon seemed to have drawn a conclusion by reading cursorly the measurements and very little discussion with me, the patient. There was no discussion of financing and I would be responsible to pay for everything with no additional discussion of work-arounds etc. I was disappointed and shaken and ressigned to do nothing and deal with contact lenses.

I had a great experience at Dr. Dougherty's office. Everyone was very knowledgable and very friendly. It was not only the front desk that was awesome but by the end of my appointment I felt every employee there was calling me me by my name. The office is very modern and has new equipment. I had an ultrasound performed on my eyes to give me the best fit for my implanted lenses, which is not done at all offices that perform this precedure. Such a weird experience to have a liquid filled cup placed on top of your eyes, but the staff made me feel comfortable and explained each step along the way. I felt very confident about scheduling my appointment for ICL. Dr. Dougherty is a pioneer of this surgery and is very science-based. I prefer to see the science and data to prove conclusions and he did exactly that. His track record is great and I have coworkers that have had their surgery performed by him. I'm very excited to have surgery next week. I know I'll be well taken care of during surgery. Thanks!

I was an R.N. and I used to tell my co-workers that they had to leave their problems at home and not bring them to work. That was what I did. Everyone in your office goes to great lengths to be friendly and peasant it's nice. I've never had to wait and I see a few doctors and usually have to wait so I appreciate being able to plan my life around my appointment and know I won't miss or be late to what I've planned.

had a horrible experience post surgery with staff. had a question on a bill, was transferred to Kirsten, the scheduler, who quickly hung up on me once she found out it was a question on billing (instead of transferring me back). Then was promised a phone call back the next day once they had the patients chart in hand and never received a phone call back. I then had to call back a week later to find out the answer to my question. once the situation was explained, we understood the issue and can now pay the difference but the experience was pretty bad (especially knowing that Kirsten was okay with just hanging up on a patient once the surgery was already complete, unbelievably unprofessional!!

My wife got an infection in her right eye which is the eye she has vision in, the night before we were going on a cruise. I call the on call doctor and Paul D. had us come to the West Lake office. He gave my wife some eye drops which cleared up the infection in 2 days. THANK YOU. We were able to make the cruise and have a wonderful time.

Dr. Doughtery was very knowledgable in the procedure I had done, explained everything to me and how it would go, and double/triple checked my eyes prior to surgery to make sure he had the best lens possible for me. He really made me understand my surgery and the side effects, and how it would benefit me, plus made me feel as though he cared about my vision.

I am one of those people that rarely compains, but I do think your office really does want to improve. On 11/20 I started getting a very red/wet eye after a 11/4 cateract surgery so I called the office and they were great at getting me in to see Dr. Vita quickly. Dr. Vita was great and thought it was a alergy related irritation so he gave me some alergy drops with Loternax. When it did not clear up I called the office again on 12/22 and Mike and Dr. Vita were again very helpful, telling me to up the Loternax and decrease it over time. During my 1/8 cateract removal follow up I met with Dr. Dougherty and he told me I had a VERY CONTAGIOUS eye infect and I should not be exposing others. Then he and his support person treated me like I was a leper...I am still not convinced of the diagnosis so I am paying for a 3rd opinion before I tell everyone at work, family and friends that they could be at risk...Bottom line, treat your patients like family and they will be loyal, simple :)

The exam I received during my consultation was certainly thorough, and the procedures offered were explained to me very explicitly. My only suggestion which may be just my opinion, is that when someone calls for their first consultation, it might be helpful for the office to mention the amount of time to allocate, as we were there well over 2 hours. Overall, we enjoyed and appreciated the consultation.

Dr. Amanda was excellent. She spent time with me to examine and explain everything and I am extremely happy with her exam. The office personnel were nice but the wait was too long and seems not properly trained for the forms needed to be filled out by first timers. It seems the long waiting issue is ongoing as it is mentioned on online too.

My appointment was at 9:30 I arrived at 9:15 and did not get called in until 10:35. The doctor is awesome but waiting over an hour is unacceptable. It makes you feel like your time is not important.

Your entrance is very confusing :( The building with your address on it has a sign that says entrance to the left. The "entrance" to the left then has a sign that your office is to the left....Ugh......I think you should remove all signage on the first entrance except a sign that says your office to the right :) Employees don't need a sign to tell them where to go :)

I should have been a little more prepared by reviewing the various procedures before the intial visit, therefore in a better position to ask any further questions that was asked by the doctor and payment/pre-op counselor. Other than those two issues, the visit went normally as expected.
