Dr Engelberg has very poor communication skills. He did not explain what he was doing and shocked me with lidocaine injections! The medicine did not work when he injected the Eyela and my eye was painful for two days ( this NEVER happened in two years with Dr Shah. I have found a new Doctor

I have been in several dentist's offices in my lifetime so I have experienced different attitudes with patients and yours is a good one. I was questioned about my insurance repeatedly at one office even to the point where I subsidised the bill just to keep peace. Mostly I experienced a lack of caring. Your office has been very kind and efficient and have never questioned my insurance. Another office that did my cataract surgery dismissed me as soon as the surgery was over, with no help on where to go. I'm easy to get along with and am happy with just good care and the right advice to save my eyesight.

I had a frustrating conversation with the scheduling department. The representative kept getting confused. Ultimately I was called five minutes later with an option to come in for a same day appointment, which worked out fine. It would help if the doors, that are not your main entrance, were noted something like “exit only” or “employee entrance.”

Very friendly staff and Dr. Bala is great. What's not great is waiting an hour for a brief follow up appointment that took minutes. I can understand when emergencies arise in a doctors office or tardy patients put the schedule behind, but I had an 8:30 am appointment and wasn't seen until 9:30 am. That's an over scheduling/poor scheduling issue.

From scheduling my LASIK consultation to the 1 month post-op appointment, DLV Vision made everything so easy. They were able to schedule the surgery date rather quickly after my consultation. Hilary was amazing. She answered all of my questions and handled all of the insurance claim information. The staff at the Camarillo location were so great and made me feel extremely comfortable during my surgery time. I have had amazing results with little to no discomfort. LASIK and DLV Vision has changed my life for the better and I couldn't be more grateful. I wish I would have gotten the procedure done years ago. I'm so glad I chose DLV Vision for my vision needs.

Prior to this appointment, I had my eyes tested. Then I waited 55 minutes for Dr. Vosoghi to come into the room. Because the testing chairs are extremely painful to my back, I brought my own Cubii to the more recent appointment and put it on the back of the worst chair backs I've ever experienced. Since I arrived shortly after 7:20 AM, I did see Dr. Vosoghi right away. My position is that I will wait on one doctor one time, and, if it happens again, I will just leave. My time is important just like the doctor's time is important.

Excellent medical care. HOWEVER: I had to wait over two hours before I actually saw the doctor (Dr. Balla), and then she was only in the room less than 3 minutes - literally. I was told that she had an emergency, but this is the second time (out of 3 appts) that she has had an emergency that requires an extensive wait. The waiting room was full when I got there - 10 minutes early. I drive 40 minutes to get there (I live in Carpinteria) and I doubt I will continue with her because my time is also important. If I were to recommend her, it would be with the explanation that the person should plan to wait a long time. I had to reschedule an appt with my oncologist because I did not get out of my 9 a.m. appt in time to get to the 11 o'clock appt.

Sometimes a business’s failures speak more to its competencies its successes. That would be my recent experience. Dr. Dougherty put a lens in my eye to facilitate nearsightedness for monovision. Eleven years later the lens drifted from its position. I went back to have the situation fixed. Though it was not warranted, understandable after eleven years. The office made immediate arrangements to have the old lens fished out and a new one put in. Preparing required that I run from DLV office to DLV office to collect the data required to perform the surgery in addition to getting an exam from my primary physician confirming me fit for surgery (this meant a two hour wait in his office to be squeezed in between scheduled appointments) The next day, my birthday no less, I had to fast (no food or water) up until the 4:pm appointment time. I had hustled for two days and starved for one, but at 4pm I was told that the surgery would have to be postponed due to a possible lack of nitrogen required that would be required. I’m hypoglycemic, so bad news like this after all the hustling and fasting was not received, um, pleasantly? I made my displeasure known. The nurse and Dr. Shah, who was to perform the surgery, absorbed my venting politely and apologetically, but they also did the thing that turned this into a positive review. My surgery was rescheduled for 6:30am two days later. I was greeted by a staff that included a receptionist, surgical nurse, anesthesiologist and Dr. Shah himself. It wasn’t until I was being prepared to leave that I learned the entire facility had been opened for my procedure alone! Pretty impressive make good! It’s been about two weeks since the surgery and my eye is improving every day. My only note for the office would more clear communication on the timing of restrictions and expectations for the healing process post-surgery, but otherwise, DLV is a ship that sails smoothly with a great crew on deck.

My only complaint was with billing. I sent pics of my ins cds as requested only 2 b told they werent good enuf & i was unable to redo as my fone storage is full. Then i was threatened w/cancellation if i didnt comply so i spent all that morning texting the info from front & back on 4 ins cds to DLV. I was just angry enuf to almost cancel the appt myself.

I just had my first appointment with Dr. Chen at DLV Vision, but I was a patient of his before he moved to that location. In fact, he did my cataract surgery. I have a lot of confidence in Dr. Chen, which was why I decided to stay with him when he moved to DLV Vision.

I had cataract surgery before with another vision office and the difference with DLV is like night and day! My appointment started on time, everyone was so accommodating, professional and friendly. I breezed through all the tests, met with Dr. Dougherty and scheduled my surgery for only 2 weeks away. I also met with Elizabeth, my patient counselor, who explained all my insurance questions and even called my referring Optometrist to set up my post-op appointments. I had a question the next day and Elizabeth emailed me quickly and answered my question. The only negative is that the surgery is in Thousand Oaks, I wish there was some place closer to Ventura, but everything else is a solid 10!

My first time there and it's a beautiful waiting room. The young ladies I encountered where all very nice, efficient and helpful. The room they put me in to wait for the doctor was small, dark and full of equipment. I couldn't hear a thing and felt like I was the only person left in the building. (I get anxiety and since I waited 25 minutes to see the doctor, I was just about ready to run!!!) I am sure the doctor is very busy, and he is very kind, but seemed to be in a hurry and didn't show me the pictures like last time to verify my eye was staying the same. :(

I like being able to contact the office by text and complete the new patient form online but was disappointed that even though I supplied all the requested information on insurance weeks ahead of the appointment, late on the day before the appointment I got a text saying the billing office didn't have the insurance and I needed to submit it via text. This started off good everyone was nice and I didn’t wait long. Doing the test you feel like cattle. There are several machines in one room and people are rotating from machines. Being told what was happening seemed good but became a mess. The dr said we could do it today and I asked how long so I can let my ride know. I was told it only takes 3 mins per eye and I’m only doing one. After agreeing to do it I went to the front and tried to pay. The computers are not working properly and I had to receive a txt to go to a site to pay that way. I then waited and went through next exams. During this I found out I was not told everything or things set up properly. Turns out there was another 250 eye drop I needed and was not told about. I was lucky because they decided to give that for free because of the payment mess up and not being told about it. Then I find out I was supposed to have an appointment with my eye doctor the next day and that wasn’t done so that had to be done next. Next was hours of waiting. This whole thing that was supposed to be 3 mins took 4 hours. My ride was not expecting to wait that long and if I had known I would of done another day. I kept asking how long and the doctor would say 10 mins then 20 mins. After an hour he said sorry he thought I was next but there was someone else. When I finally got in to the room for the procedure I was a bit confused and not sure what was going on. The whole process had me nervous and it was uncomfortable but I am happy it worked out. I don’t recall what exactly happened during or right after other than the doctor blaming all his staff for the waiting, miss information and all the issues that had. This made me a bit sad why he would blame them when he was the one who messed up. I would recommend the procedure to people just not from this guy.

I got 3 different links to leave a review. So I am just copying and pasting my original review here. The scheduling team immediately responded to my request for a consultation on line. I was able to text and confirm an appointment. Unfortunately, there was some additional back-and-forth for that could have been avoided. While I love the use of technology for scheduling, there were some glitches. I was asked for the same information multiple times in multiple ways, and some information that was needed was not asked at all. When I arrived in the office, I was asked if I had filled out the forms online with DocuSign, but I never received a link or request to do so. Still, the staff was friendly, and COVID safe (although one person at the front desk did not have her mask over her nose??) As for the patient experience once in the office, I was pleased with the attention to detail. I would have preferred a bit more time with the actual surgeon, rather than the techs and externs, but he was extremely knowledgeable and did answer all my questions, and was very logic-based. He went through his reasoning for his decisions, and discussed the options with me, and explained everything in a lot of detail. This is what I really appreciated the most! I don't think they realized that I could hear the techs and externs discussing my case with the surgeon in the next room, before I actually talked with the surgeon. It felt a little bit like playing a game of telephone; I tell the tech, the tech tells the extern, the extern tells the assist surgeon, the assist surgeon tells the surgeon. But, in the end, I was OK with that. The more people who understood the issue, the more people who could provide an opinion.

I give the surgeon a score of 9 (between 1-10). I give the ER & nurses a score of 6 . I give the patient coordinator a score of 2. I could not find the coordinator after phone calls & finally email. I asked for an early surgery dates, but was given surgery times 1:30 & 2:00 pm. Asked ER nurses repeatedly for sedation, but was not given any until in the ER room. I needed the "happy juice" while waiting for surgery, as my anxiety level was mounting. I felt no one was listening to ME, the patient. I would not recommend cataract surgery to anyone.

Hearing the circumstances they got me in that morning to see her. The technicians are pleasant and knowledgeable. So is Dr Kennedy. She explained what was happening and discussed options with me. I have always worn contacts or glasses and it was always a pain in the butt to get new glasses. Finally I said enough and scheduled my consultation with Dougherty. I got in right away and all my questions were answered. They went over options and pricing and I got a great deal that I couldn’t pass up. I was scheduled for the next week. The day of the surgery was super fast and easy. The procedure took a few seconds each eye. When they sat me up I could see the clock across the room. I will never forget it! Just finished with my 4 month follow up and I’m doing great! 20/15 vision in both eyes. Thanks for everything Team Dougherty! I highly recommend

Your online presence needs a facelift. The type of lenses offered seems, according to my discussion with Dr Bala, a bit dated. Lenses that are now considered to have been passed by newer versions are still touted as 'the latest and best'. Your contact protocols also need revision; both the doctor's office and I had trouble getting through to a person via the phone number given on your webpage.

I was referred to Dougherty Laser Vision by my optometrist last June. I was experiencing flashes of light in one eye. The doctor assigned to me investigated both eyes & explained that what I was experiencing was normal for aging eyes. He explained what caused the flashes. This time I wanted to get an accurate updated prescription to for a new pair of glasses. But again, I was experiencing eye burning, watering, & blurriness on the same eye. The Doctor that attended me was young. I thought he was a tech. He was young, extremely knowledgeable, & personable. He spent a lot of time looking inside my eyes and the surface of my eye. He took his time answering all my questions & how to simply manage my eye problem without the need for a prescription.

Everyone is the office is amazing. Feel so lucky to have found Dr. V! He saved me from having a narrow angle glaucoma attack. I never knew I was predisposed and went in for stye. I have had the laser surgery on both eyes done now to prevent this from happening. I might eventually get it but hopeful to not have an attack and lose any vision.

The day following my surgery my vision was at 20/20 and on my last follow up had improved to 20/15! Its surreal to be able to see this well without the need for glasses!
