I have been coming to this facility for many years and I do not like how the place is run now since getting the new doctor. I have been twice, and I feel like I am not heard as a patient and that she does not respect my knowledge. I have worn contacts that work for me and my lifestyle for years and the new doctor was trying to push the most expensive option on me, even after saying “no” several times and explaining that I know it is not the best option for me. I also do not appreciate how she tries to “explain” what my vision is. I know what I can and can’t see without glasses/ contacts and at one point she explained my vision as “you probably wouldn’t be able to walk down the hallway”. After these 2 visits, I will be going elsewhere for eye appointments. This is disappointing since I have been coming to Carrollwood optical since I got my first pair of glasses in 2nd grade and I am now in a graduate program. I also did not appreciate sitting in the room and waiting for the doctor when I could hear her outside the room discussing other patients and giving a discount to a patient she knows personally. I don’t like how much the doctor goes in and out of the room because it seems like she’s rushing and just running a business. Lastly, as a person in a doctorate level program in healthcare, this doctor does not respect the patients in terms of their knowledge about their own health and needs. This was shown when I explicitly said I do not want to switch which contact lenses I’m using, knowing she was trying to sell me the more expensive kind. In front of me, despite me saying I would not switch, she proceeded to tell the receptionist I may be changing my lenses. As a healthcare provider, I felt this was a complete lack of respect to the patient and a complete disregard to my knowledge of my own health and eyewear needs.
