Dr was very professional and knowledgeable, however I was charged an extra $150 without asking for a contact eye exam, I simply asked if I could discuss the price of contacts, for this reason I will not continue business in the future. Furthermore I was quoted just the eye exam price for glasses on the phone and not given a clear receipt on the charges.

We moved an hour away from This office in 2009 and I kept our family at this office because I simply love it. Dr Carpenter is a great doctor. He listens, explains, talks over options. Love his personality and his patient care. Ashlyn, also is absolutely wonderful. I have never once in all these years had anything other than a stellar experience. We will be moving even further next year and I will still continue to keep my family at this practice.

Dr. Carpenter’s office staff are outstanding. They were polite, courteous, and knowledgeable. Dr. Carpenter is one of a kind. Mini mini years ago in a far away galaxy there were other eye doctors like Dr. Carpenter who wanted to know their patients, where they were from, their family, etc. it is such a pleasure to find an eye doctor that considers me more than just a number, but a person who matters.

Dr. Matt is such a caring doctor! And visiting him is always a nice experience. He is kind and tells me about the things I do that are not the greatest for my eyes … like “don’t sleep in your contacts.” But he is so nice while he says it and that’s probably why I have been seeing him for over 35 years. Occasionally I have gotten into trouble and he never hesitates to send me to someone who is an expert in their field and they see me right away after he calls.

The only thing preventing this from a perfect 5 is I wish I wasn't caught off guard at the expense afterward or have to gear up to resist an attempted up sell. Perhaps I was being nieve but for some reason I thought I'd walk in for my covered annual eye exam and simply walk out without all the above mentioned. I'll go back but I'll be more prepared mentally and will ask questions about money beforehand.

I’ve been going to a different provider since we moved to the area six years ago. My wife and children made the switch to Dr. Carpenter and Dr. Black several years ago. My only mistake was not switching when they did. Every aspect of my visit was simply perfect from scheduling to arrival to the exam to the selection of frames and ordering. The entire staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. Their COVID precaution measures are exemplary. The exam was extensive and answered all of my questions. Dr. Carpenter’s knowledge and ability to share pertinent information was outstanding. Great selection of frames and a thorough explanation of my insurance benefit options. Beginning to end, truly a 5 Star experience!

Now I work in uptown Charlotte but I still make the effort to drive to south Charlotte because it’s worth it. Dr. Black is so sweet and so considerate and I truly would not want to go anywhere else!

A waste of my time, my money to pay for childcare and the doctor still has not contacted me with the prescription I requested that is on file. Extremely unhappy and will be sharing with a very large social group in South Charlotte (7,000 readers).

I was pleasantly relieved to find Dr. Deborah Black competent and with a fine bedside manner that reassured me. Also I was so pleased to see Violet at the front desk. That relieved the strangeness of a new office in a new location. However, it is still a "pack a lunch" trip to get there.

My visit was terrific. Dr Carpenter saw me exactly on time. I am used to waiting 30-45 minutes after appointment times to see other doctors. Dr. Carpenter was very thorough and he explained everything to me in layman's terms each step of the way. He also double checked that I understood my diagnosis, what I had to do, and when my followup visit was. I highly recommend Dr. Carpenter.

I have seen Dr Carpenter for several years, and never had anything but exceptional service by him and his office staff. He is very thorough, explains procedures well, and is personable and nice. The ladies at the desk are great, and always very helpful, whether it's helping choose glasses and frames, or working out the billing. I would recommend this eye doctor's office any day.

Dr. Carpenter is a really Great Eye Doctor!!! I could not believe all of the New Technology that is in the eye care business today; but Dr. Carpenter has it all. And everything else under the sun that you would ever need for your eye care needs!! I love visiting Dr.Carpenter because he is so easy to talk too. He is a really beautiful person and to visit with him has been a total joy. Now the girls in his office are entirely a different story -- "WOW" - They are so Amazing!! Their personalities are so amazingly different that you just have to go visit them to get the experience that I got from them. The visit is WELL worth venturing into!!! And please notice that I used the word VENTURE because it was truly a Blessing to Venture into this Office!! Dr. Carpenter YOU are a Great Doctor and a Truly Amazing Person!!

Dr. Carpenter is an excellent practitioner. He was able to fit me with contact lenses after I was told that I could not wear them. He is now able to delay the need for bifocals. The staff is always pleasant and seem to remember who I am. I highly recommend this practice for your eye needs.

great staff, friendly, helpful. I will say though that I wish glasses would be more affordable. The glasses I choose are always in the range above what is allowed in my insurance. I wish Carpenter Eye would display the prices so that I can choose more clearly from the allowed level. That way, I can choose from what is the approved amount and my flex benefits card balence is not used up so quickly & unneccessarily. When I went to pay for my glasses, the cost was above the level allowed, and I ended up paying more than I wanted, using up more of my benefits than I preferred to.

Dr.Carpenter explains everything clearly as he goes through the exam process and makes sure that the patient understands. He puts no pressure on the patient to spend money unnecessarily on their eyes. The office staff is very friendly and easy to get along with. The whole environment is very comfortable. I have been seeing Dr.Carpenter since 1985, the late 80's, and so has my family. We are very happy there and do not plan on going elsewhere for our eyecare needs. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for an optometrist.

Dr. Carpenter has been taking care of my families vision needs for over 20 years. He is an experienced optometrist with a friendly and professional manner. My exam was both thorough and informative as not only was my vision accurately measured but also he used state of the art imaging equipment to look at the overall health of my eye to test for macular degeneration and glaucoma. I would recommend Dr. Carpenter to any person needing vision services in the south Charlotte area.

I always feel welcome when I walk in the office. They always take the time necessary to explain everything to me and what my options are. They even alwasy recognize me when I call on the phone. This particular visit was a same day, sort of emergency call and she worked me in even earlier than the time I asked for. I would highly recommend this office to anyone! And I don't think I'll ever go anywhere else.
