I had a very bad experience with Dr. Buka. I had post inflammatory hyperpigmentation on the upper left side of my face. Dr. Buka hardly gave me 5 minutes of his time. He came into the room gave me a mirror asked me to show where the problem is and prescribed me 6% hydroquinone. The nurse who gave me the cream just wrote apply in the affected area. She did not tell me how much quantity to apply and what are the possible side effects. I followed doctors orders and I applied it on the affected area in the night and went to sleep. Next day the entire portion turned red. I called the clinic as I was in Atlanta and the rude person on the phone upon hearing my situation just said oh redness is common and without skipping a beat hung up the phone. Its been two days since I applied hydroquinone and redness is still there and now it has started to itch and the skin is looking puffy. I wish the doctor gave some importance to his patients. No one explained me what quantity to apply, what are the side effects how to deal with them. Horrible experience and made the situation worse than it was.

This would've been a 5 star review, hands down, if not for the detail shared below. The process of booking online (through ZocDoc), the ease of getting an appointment at a facility near me and in short order, the cleanliness and coolness of the decor...all great stuff. In the Greenwich Village office, while I was waiting for my appointment, one of the doctors (who I could not see, because he was down the hall) came out of his room and threw a mini temper tantrum which was seemingly directed at the support staff. This was completely unprofessional and incongruent with the rest of my experiences at your centers (Greenwich Village for a check up and Front Street for a laser removal of a broken capillary). The date was Friday October 27th and my appointment was at 10am in Greenwich Village (if it helps you identify the doctor in question).

Initially, I appreciated attending Dr. Buka's practice for the convenience--time/locations. However, my appreciation quickly soured when I realized that convenience came at the cost of actual care. Your army of PAs, MDs, DOs, etc. means that there is a lack of consistent care among your providers. There is significant opportunity for operational improvements and BETTER TRAINING OF YOUR STAFF. By my fourth month on Accutane, I should have known to switch to a different, consistent provider. Every time I was processed by the PA, I was treated differently. Some made me give a urine sample, others didn't. I never knew what to expect. Now, I am about to enter my sixth month of Accutane, and I foolishly stuck with your practice as my provider. Dr. Spizuoco--attentive and straightforward--did not know the correct amount of Accutane I had taken because the notes on my patient file were not accurate. Luckily, we clarified the correct amount I had taken. I was asked to disclose any medication changes, and I indicated a change in my birth control from the ring to the iud, which I had been taking for medical reasons other than birth control. My iPledge had the most accurate method--abstinence--selected. However, the PA changed my method of birth control on iPledge without informing me. What she chose as primary and secondary I don't even know. I have now been locked out of the system for thirty days, meaning I cannot take my medication for thirty days. My major issue here is that none of this information was communicated to me--the INCORRECT change in my primary method of birth control, the locking out of the system, the fact that I could not receive my medication for thirty days. Instead, I had to slowly put the pieces together during a heated conversation with an office manager. What kind of practice doesn't inform patients that their care is changing? What kind of practice has variable standards based on the roll of the dice physician seen? A NEGLIGENT one.

I feel that the waiting room procedure can be quicker. Overall I spent 45 minutes waiting to be seen by a dermotologist. I liked how the doctor took his time to explain to me what I need to do with prescribed ointment. However, I will not return here as it took about an hour for me to get one prescription.

Overall I had a great pleasant experience !! I wanted to see Dr. Bukka in person but he seems very busy but another doctor came and he observed my symptom very carefully and examined nicely. The environment of the office was so much better than the one near W4th street in Greenwich village. I didnt need to wait a moment and very clean and quite. I was a little disappointed from previous several visits though because my symptom didnt get better but I really hope this new medicine Im taking and future treatment we are planning will go successfully and my skin will look healthy as before =) but I really trust this hospital doctors, they are very well knowledged and kind. Just some doctors are more conservative than the others but I highly recommend!

I think its ridiculous and unnecessarily-difficult to deal exclusively with central phone number instead of contacting Dr. Spizzuoco's office directly. But have no number to reach 214 Sullivan. I wasted six phone calls back in July-Sept. trying to get a refill on Ketoconazole cream and oral azole anti-fungal. But someone who doesn't obviously like the sound of my voice at central number lied to me and saiud Dr. S. refused unless I came in again (even though I just had visit weeks earlier). I say lied since Dr. S. just assured me that no one ever contacted her and she was only now hearing about this. I did get Ketoconazole cream refilled and a steroid cream for itching. And I have always liked and trusted Dr. S. very much. But the refill she called into my Duane Reade on Flatbush Ave. in Brooklyn only resulted in one pill. Then they told me that was all it was written for. Then, I got messages from Gabrielle there that it was being investigated and someone would get back to me. Why do you guys have to complicate my life when it would be just as easy not to? Please have someone call me about this call in of Flucanazole and have it explained why it was only one pill. Then Duane Reade girl said I could come by and get two more pills in two more visits. But no one has updated me about what is the issue. 347-916-1992 is landline. Dr. Buka was very thorough in his examination, he asked me several questions and took my skin dryness complaint very seriously. I have been to other dermatologists and I was never able to get an answer about the source of my dry skin. Dr. Buka actually did testing and gave me an answer.

You guys always fail to verify my insurance, I moved my appointment twice this week because of it. I called and had my insurance company fax you my verification, which they confirmed was fine. When I arrived at my appointment, it was still not verified. It makes me kind of think you guys are a bunch of amateurs.... This is my favorite doctor's appointment in NY! Even though I went on a thursday evening and they had to reschedule my appointment because of other surgeries, they made up for it with a free face lotion and great service at the rescheduled visit. The doctors take their time and talk to you about any skin issues you want even if you're just there for a yearly screening. I appreciate the service!

I don't really understand what I paid for ---- I came in because I'm having severe skin itching -- not just on my scalp but all over my body. My hair is falling out, in clumps, when I shower or brush my hair. The doctor didn't really examine my skin or my scalp, then told me it was stress and inflammation causing me to have dermatitis. I asked for a reason of how she knew this to be my condition -- to which she said "I'm a dermatologist, I know". She then called in 2 prescriptions for steroids (I have already tried OTC steroids, and these provided no relief), both of which I cannot afford because with insurance they cost over $400 combined. I left a message with the office yesterday afternoon, explaining I cannot pay for these medicines -- and there must be an alternative. And, if my condition is caused by a fungus, which is what I think 90% of these are caused by -- I don't understand how steroids would help me in the first place. Shouldn't I have been prescribed something anti-fungal? Long story short, I have a deductible and just paid for basically nothing -- to be told I am stressed out at my new job. Which I am quite aware of. I would really like a new solution, if I am paying out of pocket and taking the time for a specialist appointment.

The office is beautiful. Everyone in the office was lovely. Dr. Singh was great, but I wish we had dived deeper into the gnarly struggle I've had with my eczema. But that was partly my fault, as I guess I was a bit shy. I'll be more assertive in our follow up visit. I'll revise this review after follow up, though my biggest complaint is that I am very much in need of new topical treatment, which was not covered by my pharmacy. My pharmacy called the practice Thursday evening, but no one got back to them- not at any point on Friday, which leaves me stranded.

Always a good experience as the staff is very helpful and takes the time to explain everything during my visit, however, they REALLY need to be sure that any scheduled appointment is seen in a timely fashion. I chose Dr. Buka's office for its location (very close to my office) but that defeats the purpose when waiting around for 30+ mins past my scheduled appt to be seen. I've been coming to your office for a long time, since you were just that first office on Front Street. I am really sad to say that your level of service has declined recently, in my experience. For one, I've had trouble with your billing department. After each visit, even though I pay $50 for an injection of cortisone, I receive an erroneous bill. Your billing department always remedies it, but something should be done to prevent it from happening in the first place. Secondly, and more importantly, on one of my recent visits the MA applied WART REMOVER to my face instead of ALUMINUM CHLORIDE. As a result, my face was burned for a week. The entire reason I had come in that day was to inject a large pimple in lieu of an upcoming photo shoot I had. Instead, I walked away with a sizable burn on my face. The same MA also filled the needle with the wrong solution and I had to ask the doctor to redo it. Imagine if I hadn't noticed that and ended up with some other chemical injected into my face? This was an upsetting and potentially dangerous situation. And even though some of your stuff knew about it when it happened, nobody offered to comp my visit or attempt to rectify the situation beyond a verbal apology.

Hi, I'm really frustrated by the fact that I can't contact you guys...I tried calling for days before my appt with a question and just got put on hold repeatedly til the call dropped. Then I had a question about prescriptions after, and the same thing happened. Finally, you asked me to call with the results of a swab I had done at urgent care. I finally got through that time, and was told a doc would call me back to discuss (results came back as a serious infection) and after waiting all day for a call, I was never contacted back. Still can't reach you. I finally had to go back to urgent care to get my prescription adjusted. The PA I saw was great--but the fact that it is impossible to connect with simple questions to ensure everything is being handled correctly is seriously ridiculous.

Your office regularly charges me when you should be charging my insurance. I ALWAYS confirm that I have a valid referral yet you still charge me. I have had to pay over $600 out of pocket that should have been paid my insurance but your office billed incorrectly. This had become such an issue that I am going to have to find a new doctor.

I've been a patient since 2013 coming in for occassional cystic acne injections to clear a repetitive breakout. I've consistently asked whomever I see (which is always a different PA or Dr) for a more permanent solution than a cortisone injection. I always get different answers. I also often have to come in 2-3 follow ups for a one spot breakout depending on who treated me that day. I also recently was informed of a bill from 2 years ago that apparently my insurance just sent back? That seemed odd too considering I have to py anything outstanding before being seen, and I come regularly. There is no consistency between zocdoc availability and when i call to make an appt (i always have to check both to find a time)

I saw Dr Buka about five years ago. He treated my daughter for a skin condition that her pediatrician had misdiagnosed and I fell in love with him. I drove 3 hours to NY to see him and I was very disappointed with the way his PA diagnosed my 20 month old son. Didn't bother to check his back or feet or anything. Right away she assumed it was eczema. Didn't bother explaining anything just prescribed hydrocortisone and walk away.

Service was very quick the PA that saw me was very professional and helped me feel fairly relaxed. Follow care not so much... I have called maybe 3 times since I've been seen trying to gain clarification on how to use the creams (either simultaneously one on top of the other, or each one at different times of day) still have yet to get a call back and the pharmacist wasn't equipped to assist me either. Maybe look into getting a nurse or a NP to help with aftercare.

A tequila fueled evening left me with a busted hand. The practice was prompt in accommodating me and saw me within the day. I can be a handful (some would say eccentric), but the staff was professional and I even managed to get a few laughs. Very important when a person isn't feeling their best. Dr. Sanchez was personable and to the point, making my visit a breeze. I'd highly recommend not only him but the practice to friends/family.

I greatly enjoyed my visit to Bobby Burka Dermatology on the UWS. I waited only about 15 minutes to be seen by the practitioner. The young ladies at the reception desk were super nice and helpful. They made the experience very warm from the start! The practitioner (Taylor Leigh) was knowledgable about my condition and was quick/to the point. I appreciate this kind of approach! She offered a few options to choose from and answered a few of my questions. It did help that I knew what I wanted before I came to the appointment, but I'm glad that Ms. Leigh further explained a few things to me. I was in and out before I knew it!

The staff at reception and the physician's assistant I saw were all very friendly and helpful. I found the nurse who took my information to be off-putting. He kept interrupting me as I tried to answer his questions, and had a short demeanor like that. It started to get on my nerves when I told him the name of my medication (pretty common one) and he just said "No. It's not here." I spelled it and all that, and he just sort of dismissed me like I must be wrong, so I got a bit snippy and said "I don't know what to tell you, then." Eventually he found it and moved on, but I really just thought he was rude and made me uncomfortable.

Was horrible! Dr Sanchez showed up 30 minutes late to the appointment and then proceeded to tell me that there was nothing to be done to the giant scar he caused on my bum except for surgery. Absolute disgrace. Have never experienced such unprofessional behavior and had a more negative experience with a "doctor."

Could've been a longer, more comprehensive and thorough evaluation. I spent no more than 5 minutes with Melissa the PA after a 30 second assessment of my skin. So, I'm nervous about using the cream she prescribed because I didn't feel like she thoroughly assessed my skin. I only have mild acne...could this cream be too strong and make it worse? I'm not doubting her expertise though, just wondering if 30 seconds is enough time to properly diagnose. However, she was really polite and answered any questions that I had about the prescribed treatment.

Based upon my visit to Dr. Buka's office, I do not recommend his services to other patients receiving dermatology referrals from their primary care physicians (PCP). In my evaluation, I provide three points in which Dr. Buka's office has failed to meet my standard expectation of professional care and services: 1. Timeliness I waited nearly 1.5 hours until I was called into treatment. Not sure why the office schedules in 10 minute intervals (e.g. the receptionist initially confirmed me for 17:30 but indicated to me an opening at 17:20) since the wait time was highly excessive. 2. Care I was impressed by the attending nurse's professionalism; however, Dr. Buka's care did not match this same level. Aside from his lax demeanor, his diagnosis explanation was brief and insufficient - with no knowledge resources for me to understand better my condition. 3. Prescription Dr. Buka prescribed two medications, both which were not insurance-approved. After two weeks of calling and visiting his office to expedite submission for approval, the office did not follow through despite promised priority. My insurance has lapsed (waiting for it to take effect again in April 2017), and Dr. Buka does not accept Medicaid. I still remain without medication, unable to afford the $1K out-of-pocket expense. Overall Summary Though other patients may have had a positive experience from Dr. Buka, I stand by my dissatisfaction justified by my own impression. One can overlook time delay of the appointment given that Dr. Buka has compensated for this negligence through medical care and attention, yet he did not succeed. The most critical factor of my visit - for expertise dermatology treatment - was not followed through. I offer this review as my final (indirect) correspondence with Dr. Buka and his office.

I have been to this doctor's office three times now and will no longer be going back. The first time I went to this office, the prescription given to me was not available. I called, left a voicemail and never received a returned call. A week later I had to go back to the office, and was put on a different medicine. I found out I was allergic. My recent trip, I can't get the medicine due to insurance. However the PA did mention most dermatology medicines are not covered. This is a huge waste of money and after three times, I will never ever go back nor recommend. Additionally I called to say I was running late and the receptionist was extremely rude to myself and another patient who was told she couldn't ask a quick question and had to make an appointment. Honestly that is disgusting and I have never been treated more like an ATM than a patient. Really disgusting.

I have had a 9am appointment where I have shown up at 9am and the office has been dark and I arrived before all of the staff. The DO arrived at 9:20 and didn't see the first patient till 9:50. This is inexcusable. If I am so considerate of others time that I took a cab ($) in order to be punctual why can they not be considerate of our time as well. Unfortunately I cannot say this is an isolated incident. Tardiness of the staff has occurred 3 out of 4 of my last visits. This is clearly someone who cares about the volume of patients as opposed to the quality of care. I assume this is what is to be expected from someone who advertises on the subway. Be warned. I'm currently in the process of getting my medical records so I can leave the practice. They have made this an excruciatingly long and intricate process.

I was seen by Dr. Melissa Platt at the Eastern Parkway location in Brooklyn. Dr. Platt is absolutely wonderful, especially for anyone who has never seen or been to a dermatologist before. She is very enthusiastic, always willing to answer any questions, address any concerns, and genuinely cares. She takes her time with you and I never feel rushed. The most I've ever waited is 5-10 minutes tops. The location is very clean, calm, and well kept. I definitely recommend them!

My visits are usually fine. Wait times are typically reasonable (although a few times I have had to wait nearly an hour for a 5-minute appointment). I've seen a few different providers/PAs at the UWS and Village offices, and all have been professional and friendly. My only complaint is when I need my prescription renewed. It's a hassle every time. I call the office, request the refill, they say they'll send it in, but then days later my pharmacy still hasn't gotten anything from them. My most recent prescription took nearly a month for me to receive, during which time I was having to call the office and my pharmacy repeatedly to find out why it hadn't been sent in yet. When I finally got it, it inexplicably was only 2/3 of the quantity it should have been, even though I had them verify the correct quantity when I first requested the refill. I can't imagine why it's so difficult for them to get prescriptions done quickly and correctly. It's been such an inconvenience for me that despite the great service by the doctors, I am looking for a new dermatologist.

I love how well designed and friendly the offices and staff are. However, the pill refill process does not work well with the PillPack pharmacy service. In New York State, Pillpack needs to get OKs for each refill, and when they called the office, they were never provided the OKs they required. The net result was missing a month or so of medication and having to come in for a brand new prescription when no one at the office was able to support my requests.

I came in to get a glycolic peel. It was the first time I had a peel at your office so I did have a lot of questions and a bit concerns on what my skins reaction would be. Luckily I was proactive to look at what they were planning to use on my face and saw that it was salicyc acid - which I have had a bad experience with before... so they thanked me for catching that and pulled out something else to us. This made me feel very insecure on what was going to happen to my face after this peel. They told me if it stings to tell them, so it stung right away I told them, and they took it off. It was only on my face for 2 minutes. So the outcome- was this peel did not help me skin at all and cost $150. If at all possible I would like a refund or possibly a different treatment. 1. Botox turned out great as always but I was severely bruised again. My left eye was terrible for 9 days. Makeup could not conceal it. I will have to take the anti bruising pills in advance next time. It was bad. 2. The 900 filler around mouth does not look any different to me. The only difference is that I seem to be swollen under my nose like I have a fat lip.n. Not happy with this. 3. The time I spend waiting on hold is horrendous but after my massive complaining it seems to be better the last two times I have called. I feel as if you have fixed it. Normal time was 15 min plus. No exaggeration. 4. A woman at front desk announced to the office my visit was cosmetic. Unprofessional. Your stafff did follow up so I'm sure it was remedied.

It was a bad experience. The doctor was very nice but the visit had to be done in 3 minutes because i had to leave after 1 hour wait. The rest of the office is a total mess. They do not answer to the phone and when they do they put you in hold for 30 mins. I had to use two different creams for my nail infection and I was able to get them 5 days after the visit. I had to go to another doctor in order to have the cure as I am pregnant and I could not risk an infection. They kept sending the creams at the wrong pharmacy even if I was calling every day. They are not friendly and sometimes after the wait on line they just hang the phone on you. It is a shame because probably the doctors are amazing but the people working around them not really.

I first came here for a small bump under my eye and was told it was a wart (surprising to me because I hadn't had them before and expressed this at the time.) I went in on 3 separate occasions over the course of a few months for said "wart" to be frozen. He hardly even needed to glance at my face to know it wasn't a wart- it was milia- totally different and able to be taken care of right on the spot. After having the bump under my eye for almost a year it is finally gone. I'm glad that Dr. Sanchez finally helped, and this office is convenient for me, but going a total of 4 times and paying my copay 4 times, three of which were for nothing is frustrating to say the least. Aside from that.. I can't imagine freezing the sensitive skin under your eye is good for it.. but three times for something that didn't need freezing? I wouldn't recommend this place, but if you do go make sure you only see a real doctor.

They were not judgemental at all. At the end of my appointment, she told me to make an appointment so she could see how the medicines were working.. So proactive! I came in because I had three callouses between my toes that were bothering me - the PA I saw determined they were warts, and painfully froze them off. They were not warts, they are callouses, which was confirmed by another PA I saw at your office later on. I'm disappointed by the fake wart diagnosis, because it turns out they are callouses that point to an issue in my foot that may require surgery. I also had two moles removed, but they were not fully removed and pigment is still there for both, now I just have a scar and a mole in each spot.

The only thing I would highlight is that I wished the doctor would have spent more time and spoke with me a little more and explain the shot she administered and explain side effects etc, she was in and out under 10 minutes, she only told me the name and a brief use, I had to look it up to get a better understanding. I appreciate the efficiency, but effectiveness is due as well and the place was not full .But overall it was good, I would come back here.

Not the best experience going to the Front Street office before the Labor Day Holiday. The PA did not treat my skin condition, and instead gave me medication for an existing problem that I wasn't concerned with. I was later notified by the pharmacy that the total of my 2 prescriptions was $1,000. I called the office to discuss getting generics with the PA but she was on vacation for the weekend. After calling the office again, I was told generics were sent to the pharmacy although I was not notified. Reaching out to me the next Wednesday, the PA described a skin issue that was not mine and that that was what the prescriptions were for. When corrected, she was angry and blamed the miscommunication on the pharmacy. Communication was a huge factor - I just wanted someone to explain what I had and what I was supposed to be using for it. I still have no idea but the generics were only $10!

I do not feel well supported by dr bukka or his staff. It is taking an awfully long time to get my prescription changed as my insurance does not cover what they prescribed.They are not fast acting if anything needs changing and it is hard if not impossible to speak to someone on the phone that actually knows what is going on with my case. I have had to follow up with the office over and over to find out if they have followed through with what they said they were going to do and no one gives me a definitive answer. Very frustrating as I went to my appointment a week ago and I still don't have a prescription to use. Additionally, There was also a problem with the oral medication that was prescribed as it interacts with something else I am taking. My doctor called dr.bukka to discuss and he has not given a call back In a week. Definitely cant rely on dr bukka or his staff. It feels like they disappear after leaving the office. It's too bad that they are so hard to work with

The staff is great and Dr. Rhee is wonderful. My only complaint is that the floor in the exam room was filthy. It looked like it hadn't been swept or mopped in days. If I hadn't been to the office before and had a good experience, I would have left right away. Even still, I felt weird about standing there with my shoes off. I'm not a neat freak by any means, but I expect a certain baseline of cleanliness from a medical facility.

Finally a Physicians assistant came in to help, which was nice. She gave me a completely different treatment plan than Dr. Buka did, and I'm glad he came in when he did. I'm sure this was out of the norm for them, so I will go back and try again.

Whilst Dr Buka may be an excellent Dr, the experience at his clinic is dreadful. Every time I have been, I have been kept waiting an hour or there about. You never even saw me at my last appointment as I gave up waiting after being told I was next in the line by one receptionist, 3rd by a 'checker in' and then watched others who complained louder being shown in before. I have now found another dermatologist and will no longer be using Dr Buka or any of his associates. I asked the receptionist to make sure that my insurance was not charged and please give my co pay to a charity. You sent me 4-5 reminders of my appointment, but yet you cannot keep the appointment yourself. My previous appointment was rescheduled when I was given a different dr, then when I showed up as Sullivan st, I was told I was not even in the system.

One of his associates prescribed 2 topicals and specifically told me that sometimes they have problems filling these medications, When I went to pick then up lo and behold they needed the dr to get a pre-authorization to prescribe them, So my thinking is if your knew this why did you just not do it in the first place?? Called the dr's office next morning, was put on hold and then she hung up on me. Called back again spoke to someone who told me they would call, They never did. Called back again in the afternoon. Again put on hold (for longer than 3 mins), hung up on again! Called back to see what happened. Then she proceeds to tell me I never called, pharmacy never reached out to them and I need to start over, Quite rude and down right insulting. Still have not gotten my medicine! Shameful!

I had a mole removed and the procedure was quick, painless, and satisfactory. When I left the office to head to the subway to go to work I felt a wetness on my back and I was bleeding profusely. The bandage job was poorly done. I quickly went home to clean up because I didn't want my clothes to be completely covered in blood walking on the street. I called to notify what happened and ask for (at the very least) a comped dry cleaning bill for the pants and shirt that were now blood stained. I was met with indifference on the call and the representative I spoke with even suggested the bleeding was my fault. Despite the relatively quick service (I waited for about 20 minutes past my appointment time), professionalism of the dermatologist I met with, and painless and solid removal of the mole I would not recommend your office and will not be returning.

Buka was nice when I actually got to speak with him, for a grand total of 5 minutes. But I had to wait 1 hour and 20 minutes to even be seen by him. My appointment was at 5:40PM and they brought me in at 6:45PM and I got to see him at 7PM. I only picked this doctor because my regular derm was fully booked out for a week or so, but I should have waited and known the fact that Dr. Buka's availability every 10 minutes on ZocDoc was a bad sign. Better yet, I should have read the Yelp reviews. I'm never coming back here again. The nurses spent half the time gossiping, the front desk was rude, and the RN who was supposed to take my information didn't even know what pseudoephedrine was.

I regularly pass one of Dr Buka's offices on my commute, so went on ZocDoc to book with him based on that and not any kind of recommendation or anything. It's always such a gamble to try a new doctor, they might totally suck or not help you, and then you kind of wasted your doctor's appointment and still don't have someone reliable to go to next time. The last two dermatologists I've seen kind of sucked, so I figured a random guess was as good as anything. Amazingly, even though I picked randomly, Dr Buka is awesome, and I really like him! Will definitely continue to see him as my derm. I did wait a long time to be seen, but when I got in he didn't rush me at all, did a good job assessing what was going on and letting me know what my options were, and had really excellent bedside manner (which sadly I rarely seem to see from doctors). A+!

I recommend skipping this one. Zocdoc reviews and the google/yelp/healthpages reviews are very different, so be sure to read the negatives before you book an appointment. The visit itself was fine, I saw a technician who seemed to know what he was doing. My negative review is based on the customer service. I called the only listed number multiple times at multiple different times of day, and put on hold then abruptly disconnected by an automated system each time. Eventually I got through to an actual human being by hitting menu options and landing at billing, who disconnected me 2 more times, before finally connecting me to a very rude receptionist. I explained the problems I was having with their phone system and she was extremely dismissive, then I asked if I could talk to someone else, and she connected me to a different receptionist who pretended to be a person another customer who was hold, and then hung up. Not worth the trouble, skip this one.

She apologized for the confusion and explained that this is an issue with zocdoc, that the Dr I wanted to see doesn't ever work out of that office. If this is the case I suggest not using zocdoc to book your appointments, but it is a direct link from your website.

When I stopped in to inform the receptionist, she snapped, “You didn’t have to come in to tell us that. The pharmacist could have called.” (The pharmacy is a block from her office.) I told the receptionist that Dr. Rhea prescribed medications that my insurance company would not cover. Later the pharmacist called Dr. Rhea’s office and was put on hold for over 30 minutes before hanging up. I called later and was put on hold for over 15 minutes then was disconnected. I will search for a new dermatologist, because the office is so hard to reach. My insurance company is investigating it.

( and please don't blame it on the new prescription law that went in to effect on Monday. My daughter was seen there the same day and got her medicine sent to the same pharmacy with no problems. Dr. Buka himself, and the nursing staff, were great. However I had extreme difficulty with his staff in the days following bc they screwed up my Rx. It took a week to have my four prescriptions filled, due to their lack of attention and competence. At one point they kept me on hold on the phone for over 25 minutes. I was appalled. And while I like Dr. Buka very much, what my medications are and how they are to be taken were literally not explained to me at all. I still don't know if I'm taking them correctly. I feel that Dr. Buka is probably a very bright, competent doctor, and his bedside manner is at once kind, but efficient, however, he should spend more than 10-15 minutes with a patient, and I came primarily due to rosacea on my face, which he didn't even take a close look at. I am genuinely not at all sure if I will return for my follow up or just find another dermatologist who cares less about how curated his waiting room is, and more about his patients.

The nurse that helped Dr. Buka during my procedure should not have been left alone to provide care for a CO2 laser procedure. Dr. Buka asked her to mark my face prior to the treatment; and, she seemed scared and had to ask him what he meant (I felt like she had never done it before). Then, she used a non-sterile glove to put lotion on my face after the procedure. She, also, left all the marking pen on my face after the procedure (last time, the assistant removed most of it). BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, the nurse gave me THE WRONG care instruction sheet when my procedure was over. The sheet she gave me noted that I could wear makeup and shower immediately after the procedure. Since I had had the CO2 treatment the year before, I knew that the instructions that I should have received were much more involved. I pointed that out to her (and then she found the correct instructions).

When I returned to your office, the receptionists said CVS should have called for me. Clearly there is an issue between your office and the local CVS pharmacists and it is unfortunately clear to the patients.

One big issue I had was that I had made my appointment specifically to see Dr. Buka, and over the phone they had noted my appointment as such, but when I came in, I did not get to see Dr. Buka because he was in a series of surgeries. I feel that the receptionist with whom I made my appointment should have been aware there were surgeries and allocated enough time for them and then given me a more appropriate appointment time. When I complained to the receptionist after my appointment, she said there was no record noting that I had to see Dr. Buka, but I assumed that when I made a phone appointment to see Dr. Buka, I would be seeing Dr. Buka. I also had to pay out of pocket so needless to say I am deeply disappointment in the duplicitous nature of the appointment interaction.

I don't like that my situation has not changed or improved in over a year. I am still having the same skin condition and I constantly see different doctors. I think there needs to be consistency in the doctors, because doctors simply come in and guess what they think may help, then your on a new regiment for a while and then a new doctor gives you the same or something different, but I don't think they are taking the time to really find out what is going on or to help or cure these issues. There is such a rush to try different medications. I have not heard one doctor say try something natural or change your diet. They constantly want to give me injections into the bumps I have, which are so painful and still do not help but for a few hours. I wish I could see Dr, Buka more becuase he is a little more thorough.

I always appreciate a doctor who will listen to what I have to say about my conditions. Although, I know you have studied for several years and are expert in dermatology as a doctor, when your PA won't listen to the suggestions given by the patient, it seems like narcissism is preventing excellent patient care. I am currently happy with my regimen but still felt like antibiotics would've been more conducive to my incredibly busy and unpredictable schedule. Overall a good experience nonetheless.

Train your staff better. I was prescribed medication that was not covered by our insurance which would have cost more than $300 dollars. The pharmacist told me that it would take 3 days to hear back from our insurance on whether they can would cover our medication. I could not wait 3 days for medication, as I was in serious pain. The pharmacist tried contacting the doctor (Dr. Rhee) to prescribe a different medication that would be covered, but the doctor was too busy to respond. After waiting 20 minutes for a callback at the pharmacy, I decided to call the office directly to ask that the doctor represcribe medicine. Again they told me that the doctor will call the pharmacy. I told them to please call as soon as possible as the pharmacy was closing soon. At this point the pharmacist told me that this office is known to be "slow". After another 20 minutes of waiting, and 30 minutes before the pharmacy was closing, I went directly back to your office, whereupon the receptionist argued that I only called 20 minutes ago and that the pharmacy needed to call them. One of the staff members came by and gave me samples of the medication that was needed. Train your staff to not talk back, and to return calls ASAP when people are waiting, and to learn to prescribe medication covered by the insurance, not to medical companies you have relationships with which give you free samples. We will not be returning to this office again.

I came in with inflammation of the face and she didn't really even get close enough to look at it - she just stood a few feet away and told me it was probably from bleach on towels at a hotel I was at over the previous weekend and to use an anti-inflammatory cream I had on hand from a previous visit for a different condition. She was there probably 90 seconds.

I was met by a physician assistant and not a doctor and basically was told skin ages without me raising any concern for wrinkles etc. i was going to request a full cancer screening at a later date but since I didn't even get basic advice of the moles on my face and the darker spots from pregnancy I decided against it. I also brought my daughter and I wasn't happy with her visit.

After explaining to Dr Rhee that I scar easily and have multiple keloids from previous surgical areas/ injuries she proceeded to perform cryo on my forehead (between my brows). 2 weeks later, I have a large area that appears to be forming a keloid. I'm concerned to say the least. She gave me no instructions for after the therapy (luckily I work in healthcare and have several friends that are dermatologists). I will wait to see what she says today but I am displeased, to say the least.

I have to say, I have been struggling with my skin my entire life, I've seen countless doctors and none of them got it right until I went to Bobby Buka's practice. I would definitely say that by the appearance of the place you can't really tell the level of treatment you are about to get. It's not the nicest office I've ever been in, but it's not too bad. Obviously they are focusing more on their practice than their looks. I am more than pleased with the results I've had seeing these doctors. If I ever leave New York, I will be very sad to leave this team.

I booked an appointment with Libby Rhee. Upon arrival I met with a nurse practitioner (Taylor Leigh) who did not even examine my face. She asked why was I there and pretty much handed me two prescriptions and told me she'd see me in 3-4 weeks. That was a waste of time and a waste of co-pay. I will not be returning to this office nor will I recommend them to anyone.

From the first time he saw the abscess on my side he took immediate action and has been very thorough and professional throughout the entire process. I've had many follow up appointments with him and he's very thorough to ensure I'm pleased with the outcome of draining the infection, and also working to make the scar on my abdomen as small as possible now that it's finally healed. He's very easy to talk to and knowledgeable. I already recommended him to a family member who went to see him yesterday. He has been great and is why I would recommend this dermatology center to any of my family/friends in NYC.

I really want to like this office, bc the location is convenient and the vibe is great. However their schedule management and the quality of the care, in my case was terrible. I went to the Sullivan Street office 4 times times within 3 weeks for a sudden outbreak of acne. The first time I waited around 30 minutes past my appointment time before I saw a doctor, the second time I waited around 40 minutes, the third time I waited almost an hour. Most recently I had a 2:20 appointment- when I arrived I asked how long the wait would be and was told it was 10 minutes. At 2:45 I asked if I would see the doctor by 3:00pm...the response was probably not, but maybe by 3:30. I didn't have time to wait- I left. In my case, the treatment was ineffective. I had the same cyst injected 3 times with zero result. I went to another dermotologist and had it injected a 4th time and it dissipated almost immediately. The topical medicines the doctor prescribed did nothing (but the same doctor who injected my cyst effectively also prescribed a regimen that has yielded nearly immediate results). If the doctors are running so far behind, i would appreciate a call or text to let me know so that I can adjust my arrival time. Also, I didn't feel like the various doctors I saw at this practice understood my needs fully- the fact that I made 4 appointments in an attempt to solve the same problem speaks volumes.

Dr Buka was very thorough & also very kind during my visits. He apologized for not having my biopsy results upon my 2nd visit & said he'd call with the results the next day. I did indeed get a call the next day, from another doctor in the office who identified herself (my apologies for not remembering her name.) She said the biopsy was not cancerous, but said I needed to make an appointment for 2 weeks from now, which I did. My problem is that I don't know why I need another office appointment if the biopsy and my health are okay. Please let me know if I need to keep my Jan 19, 2016 appointment. Thanks!

I was advised by my primary to see a dermatologist about the discoloration a appearing all over my neck, legs and arms suddenly. I thought I would see a dermatologist but instead saw a physician assistant for the second time I have been to this location. She thought my marks were from citrus in the sun. A day later more blotches have appeared and I have not been in the sun or ate citrus. It is very misleading to book an appt at a dermotologist and not see a dermatologist. I will need to find a new practice to see a real specialist.

this was by far my worst experience in a medical office. there were a number of factors that made it this way, from waiting close to 50 minutes to be seen, after being the only person there. to the next person walking in and being seen under in under 10 mins and then I was seen, almost as if they had forgotten I was there. When I was finally seen, and treated for basically 5 minutes, I walked out with no clarity of my condition. I also just got your bill and noticed that this visit was $250 which is disgusting to me. total waste of time

Overall, we were very satisfied with this practice. Dr. Buka was very compassionate to our daughter and made her feel super comfortable. He was very knowledgeable and took his time to explain everything and answer the panicked questions that we had. Our only issue with this practice was when we were told our daughter's prescription would be called in only to find out thst when we went to our pharmacy assuming it was it wasn't. We even called the pharmacy later on that day and to our dislike, there was no trace of a call in for our daughter. I simply think it is irrational to make a patient come in every 6 months for prescription renewal on a drug theyve been taking for years unless it is solely for generating revenue. It's not like you run any tests. My doctors simply ask if the medication is working and then I leave. I wouldn't request a renewal of it wasn't. IT would be more efficient to just call and ask if you must.

I really like this practice. I always feel comfortable with the care I receive and I have seen a lot of improvement in my skin conditions over the time that I have been going here. My one caveat is that every time I come in I am told I have an open balance, but I never receive a bill. I've confirmed with the staff that according to their records the dates bills have been sent out and to the correct address, but none have ever turned up. Not sure if it's just me, but there seems to be a gap in your system somewhere given that I come in every 4-6 weeks for almost a year now.

I have been to this office 3 or 4 times now and have seen a different doctor each time. This is frustrating for two reasons - 1) I have acne and have no idea how a new doctor could consult on the progression of my condition if they have no history assessing the appearance of my skin. 2) I request to see the same doc (Brooke Bair) each time and am not warned when this changes. The staff are all pretty nice, but I do not feel I am receiving the care I am paying for (follow-up acne consultation) if the doctor cannot effectively consult. How can you "follow up consult" a patient you have never seen before? I love the medication I am using, it has been a bit of a miracle, but I do not love the sporadic staffing, the lack of warning when staffing changes, and the over hour wait I experienced during my second to last visit.

It's not completely anyone's fault, in fact maybe more mine for not asking more questions but I left the office after what seemed like a short diagnosis and I didn't have a very clear understanding of my ailment. I wasn't sure if I needed to worry about my skin infection being contagious, what precaution I should take for it, whether or not I needed to let everyone I had been in contact with to get checked out, how I should properly clean possibly infected clothing, or anything else. Those were definitely questions I should have asked but it would have been nice if that was part of the process. If it matters, I believe the PA's name was Chris. Again, he was very nice and seem knowledgable about my issues. The visit to the doctor's office was just so fast and I wasn't sure if it was because what I had was common or easy to deal with and I also didn't know what I could expect from the treatment.

She was actually the third opinion I had regarding a skin condition I've had since July 2014. I was misdiagnosed from both other dermatologists including one that I saw multiple times. She seemed to know right away what it was and performed a biopsy. I am deathly afraid of needles, but she handled this procedure as good as possible. Was great on the follow-up appointment. Even though I got a diagnosis I wish I didn't have (lupus) I thanked her and truly think she is great at what she does. She sent me off with more testing that needs to be done and I'll be following up with her next week when I get those test results back.

Bed side manner wasn't great, which I think should be an important factor when dealing with a skin issue that the patient is unfamiliar with (and worried about) and the PA didn't seem like they could really advise on. Worry less about office appearance, and more on the medical practice. I very much look forward to seeing Dr. Buka on my next visit, as I am confident that he will have not just the test results, but insight and tips going forward.

Dr. Ghee seemed like a great doctor (kind, warm, thoughtful) but she was so rushed that I think I saw her for no more than 4-5 minutes (including her exam). I am a medical student and was looking forward to finding out what was wrong with my scalp and a rash I had on my stomach but I left with 2 prescriptions and no idea what they were for. I would have liked to be told not only the names of my conditions but also how/why they might have occurred, and how I can prevent them in the future. I specifically chose Dr. Ghee because she is a DO but I was pretty disappointed with how quickly she prescribed me steroids and then rushed through the directions for taking them (so much so that I had to ask the nurse to come back afterwards and re-explain). My appointment summary on the portal is also 80% fabricated - most of these things were not discussed

The PA who treated me seemed very knowledgable and friendly. In the beginning of my appointment I was asked to wait in one of the rooms for the PA. When the PA arrived, following a brief intake with a nurse, she introduced herself and started asking me about why I came in. A couple minutes later another woman walked into the room with no introduction on who she was or her purpose. She proceeded to what take notes (i think) while I spoke with the PA. I found it very discomforting that the PA did not take a moment to at least introduce me to this woman or let me know her purpose for being in the room, especially considering the sensitive nature of my condition for which I had to disrobe to demonstrate its full extent. Also, when I was checking out, the receptionist took about 30 seconds to respond to my request to schedule a follow-up because she was on her cellphone apparently texting. I found this to be quite rude. She was friendly, nevertheless

I was asked to pay for my visit immediately when I checked in and the I had to wait 45 minutes past when my appointment was scheduled to be seen, causing me to be late to work. Furthermore, the assistant entered my email incorrectly into ipledge and I now have to wait an additional month to start accutane (I had to pay for the bloodwork for last month's) I will not be returning to this practice.

Dear Dr. Buka, I think it is very concerning that your employees prescribe and strongly advocate for the use of antibiotic ointments. According to the American Academy of Dermatology and the "Choosing Wisely" campaign, the routine use of antibiotic ointments on surgical wounds is 1 of 5 practices they advice against. See: https://www.aad.org/education/choosing-wisely They say that: 1) research proves that these ointments don't reduce the rate of infection, and that 2) they can instead cause contact dermatitis and 3) can lead to antibiotics resistance. As much as I understand that many other doctors and clinics recommend the use of antibiotic ointments, the development of antibiotic resistant bacteria is a very real public health concern. In light of that, I hope your practice will actively work to prevent this by embracing new research findings and discontinuing the use of these ointments. I also think it is your role as doctors to educate your patients about why inappropriate use of antibiotics is harmful. I had two biopsies performed by Dr. Libby Rhee on the exact same area of my back, both needing stitches. The first time, I used the antibiotic ointment as prescribed and the area around the stitches got very red, itchy, and irritated to the point that I had to use cortisone cream to reduce the irritation. Sounds like contact dermatitis to me. The second time, I declined to use the antibiotic ointment, and instead just kept the area clean and covered. This time, there was no irritation, and the wound healed nicely. An unrelated concern is that your staff does not seem well equipped to handle patients with a latex sensitivity. Dr. Rhee even admitted to not knowing there was such a thing as latex-free bandages. I started bringing my own latex-free bandages etc. eventually since they were not always available. For a practice that specializes in all types of skin conditions, I find this very concerning. As far as dressings that work for patients with a latex sensitivity, I would recommend Tegaderm Transparent Film Dressings. I purchased those and used with a compress to keep my stitches clean and dry, worked extremely well with zero skin irritation! This is the only product that I have ever used that gave me no skin irritation from the adhesives after such prolonged use (2 weeks total). A third concern is that I have also been kept waiting for at least 30 minutes prior to each appointment, which is unacceptable and disrespectful of patients' time, especially given that I have usually booked one of the first appointments in the morning (at 9 or 9:20 AM). From what I have observed while waiting, staff start rolling in after 9 AM, so it is not surprising that they are not ready to see their patients on time. Lastly, I have been incorrectly billed a $40 copay twice for the same type of office visit (removing stitches on 2/18 and 3/18). Your front desk staff may need some additional billing-related training. Thank you for hearing my concerns, and please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or comments.

The overall visit was alright. However, I do have a comment. During the ladder part of our visit (during a Q&A), Dr. Buka had abruptly excused himself and his assistant. A short time later, his assistant returned alone. When I asked, "Where is Dr. Buka? Is he not returning?" the assistant replied that Dr. Buka was not returning and asked if I had further questions. As a patient, is it too much to expect Dr. Buka to extend his professionalism and courtesy by returning for a couple of minutes and then to end the visit, properly? I still had a couple of questions for him and left the room shaking my head in disbelief. As I left, I could hear him with another patient.

This visit was my first time at your offices (and indeed my first time to a dermatologist). Rebecca was wonderful, diagnosing not only hormonal chin acne but she also told me that what I thought was shaving irritation was actually a very common condition called keratosis pilaris which is treatable with a simple cream! Had I known that these conditions which have made me self-conscious for many years were so easily treatable I would have made an appointment at a dermatologist long ago! I'm excited to see how the treatments prescribed by Rebecca improve my skin!

I have seen a number of doctor's in New York who have rushed me in and out almost without looking at my skin at all. I always have a wonderful experience when I come to see Dr. Rhee. From my first visit (a tear-filled, emotional breakdown) to my most recent one, she's never anything short of compassionate, professional, informative, and patient. She carefully listens to my updates on my skins condition, she explains our next step moving forward, an this past visit she thoroughly answered my sunblock/sun exposure questions. My only annoyance with my appointment was that I had the first one (9am) and I still wasn't seen until 9:20. Still, I always give Dr. Rhee 5 stars because she's the first dermatologist I've worked with (I've seen many) who seems to really have a specific and scientific approach to each individual case. Past dermatologists just generalized so much, I cannot count the number of times I was ultimatumed "Accutane or monocyclin" and that is not at all the approach Dr. Rhee takes. I recommend her to all my colleagues, friends, and family! She's the best.

This is my fifth month on Accutane and every month there has been an issue getting my prescription. Three of five months, the person that I saw did not ask me what are my two forms of birth control to put into the iPledge Program website. Instead, it appears that they choose two and then when I try to logon to the system, my forms of birth control don't match what they entered into the system and I have to call. This month, not only did they not ask me what were my two forms of birth control to manage me in the system, but instead entered two forms that I am not taking, but they didn't call in my prescription at all. I called three times over the next two days, and had the pharmacy call the office as well. My prescription wasn't called in until 2.5 days after my visit, and as a result I did not get my Accutane until the following Monday and by that time, I had run out. I had to go two days without taking it, which I worry can decrease its effectiveness.

The office is absolutely beautiful and very well-decorated. I also received excellent care from my doctor, who was kind and patient, explained everything to me carefully and always made sure I understood. However, there was a long wait time, and--most importantly--I found the receptionists to be very unpleasant and unfriendly. If it werent for the excellent medical care I received, I would not be back, simply on the basis of how unwelcome I felt upon entering the practice.

Everything about my recent appointment at Dr. Bobby Buka's UWS office was pleasant, and the care I received took care of my problem. Short wait time, clean office, friendly staff, and high quality care from PA Baokim Bonelli. However, the one issue I have is the fact that I had to take a chunk of time out of my work day and pay an additional copay for another office visit a week after the first for my follow up appointment, which literally lasted under 1 minute, and could have been easily been conducted over the phone or via email (the results of my culture were negative for MRSA, which was my initial fear). I would have preferred to receive an email or phone call telling me the results of the culture and saving me the visit, rather than missing a significant amount of work and paying $40 to come into the office for under a minute to get this message. Thanks.

The only bad thing about the office is really easy to get misplaced with other buildings, without having any sign indicating the office. I had to call and see where was the door to enter. It needs a sign! But overall wonderful service and can't complaint. I will be coming back.
