Everything was as one would expect except: I am sure that when you moved into this building you put a great deal of thought into the environment: wall color, carpeting, chairs, displays. All of that to create a positive environment that encourages good health and patient comfort. Why did you do a 180 and stick a TV on a wall with news blaring from it? I would pull down the TV and replace it with a nice shelf with a sound system playing soft spa-like music. The soundscape of your office is as important as anything you do. Maybe, as it is so powerful, the most important thing you do. Filling a room with news does nothing to advance the mission I presume you have: Provide excellent care and generate revenue to continue to grow and do even more.

Not my first time there and I have been treated better in the past. I won't let this time chase me away. I waited a fairly long time for my exam after I had my drops put in. It was finally called back at around 9:30 when my appointment was 8:35. I had considered leaving by then but because I had already had the drops placed, I waited longer. No one ever came out to talk to me about the wait. We do that at my office if there is a protracted wait. I actually thought that I had the first appointment of the morning but someone was ahead of me who required extra time. I do understand that but not without a word from someone about the wait time. When I was released to check out, the person who did the checkout took my paperwork to someone in the optician shop and I followed her. I was most interested in donating a pair of old glasses and probably not in buying new glasses at this time because my prescription had changed very little. When the person in the shop walked out to the shop, I started to give her the glasses and ask if they collected for the Lion's. She cut off my question and told me to wait because she was with someone else. At this point, I had no more time to wait. I had thought that I may be able to order prescription sunglasses but instead, handed someone the old glasses, asked for my prescription to take somewhere in the future, and left. Making my appointment early in the morning is something that I do so that I can go on to work at a reasonable time. Obviously, this time it didn't work out.

Let me start off by saying I do not like going to any type of Dr. The staff here was amazing from the front desk being checked in to ordering everything I needed when finished. I was called back before my actual appointment time which is my biggest thing about Dr visits. The staff and Dr answered every question I had as well as explaining everything. After having a previous bad experience with another eye care provider, we fell in love with office. Everyone in your office was kind to me when I was finding out about my insurance and got teary. The woman who did all the pre-testing, asked me if I was okay. I was trying not to cry and she came around and gave me a hug. That is almost non-existent these days! (Sorry, am bad with remembering names.) The woman behind the appointment desk was sooo kind to me and between you and Dr Quesenberry, you worked it out to bill it medically to reduce the cost. I don't know how to adequately thank each and every one of you.

My blood pressure was then on my right wrist,that was a first for me was told my blood pressure was high,checked at home on left wrist pressure was fine,because of a dilemma at your office I had to wait 40 more minutes, then after your exam I was getting pictures of my eyes with someone who didn't know what they where doing so another employee took the pictures over, very poor service will probably never return

Ray, Thanks for your feedback. We certainly want for everything to run smoothly and we do our best to make sure that you have a good experience in our office and I'm sorry to hear that you didn't feel that way at your appointment. I assure you that we follow all the appropriate CMS and AMA guidelines for measuring blood pressure and that our staff are qualified and trained to perform these tests. Wrist blood pressure cuffs can be very accurate if used correctly according to the guidelines of the manufacturer but they are sensitive to body position and have to be taken at heart level and while resting. According to the manufacturer guidelines, ours can be used on either your right or your left wrist. It is also not uncommon for your blood pressure to be different when measured at home. This discrepancy is generally referred to as "white coat syndrome". The best protocol for moving forward is to go into your PCPs office and have them measure it at three different times on different days so they can properly assess whether you may benefit from better control. Without divulging other specifics about the findings during your exam, I stand by my assessment and encourage you to continue to follow up with your PCP. Exercise, diet and the proper use of medications will help. Regarding the photos - any further comments from me about the photos would probably divulge personal information but I assure you that our staff is trained properly. As far as your exam time, we were running 20 minutes behind schedule that day. Normally you would have had to wait 20 minutes while your eyes dilated and in your case you waited a bit more. Your total exam took an hour and 20 minutes. We are sorry about that and I will be reaching out later to apologize and better understand your concerns. Our goal for a comprehensive eye exam is to be finished in an hour. Sometimes certain things come up during the day and we need to take a bit more time with a given patient (like what happened the day of your exam). We will be sure to show you the same courtesy. I am the only eye care provider in the area that sees eye emergencies like abrasions and foreign bodies. We do so in an effort to serve our community. These can be painful and I'd see you too if it happened to you. We pride ourselves on not being a "mill" where we just churn out tons of people like numbers or an assembly line. Here at our office we take time for personalized care and we hope we can continue to see you for years to come. Again, I will be reaching out soon to discuss your concerns. I was not told that my first pair of glasses, which were bifocals, would have lines. When I was choosing options for my lenses, a term Round 20 was written with all other options I chose. Well me, not knowing anything about lenses, didn't know what that meant, but I know now. I was not happy with being able to see lines & who would... The office manager said that the staff would not order them that way without explaining the options. That was not true! It was not explained to me & I dont appreciate being told that. I told them I did not want them that way. The office manager said they would be significantly more expensive to get no lines. I said, well I don't want them. Then she said it will be a 20% restocking fee..Really!! I also know I will not go back there for any other sevices, nor will I recommend this place to friends, family or coworkers. I felt like they did not care that I was dissatisfied, and tried to make me feel like it was my fault. There is plenty of other competition & I will be going elsewhere next time! My son said the eyeglass folks had attitude (inpatient) with him. Well Bedford is a small town and word of mouth goes a long way. Just sayin

Hi Kiwonna, I wrote a long response to your review Saturday the 18th but it was too long and didn't save. I did want to make sure I responded publicly even though we have since discussed everything and cleared things up. As we discussed before - my staff and I are very sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your glasses. I truly think this was a misunderstanding or a "lost in translation" issue and we are happy to help in any way we can to remake the lenses to meet your needs. There's no charge to recheck your Rx or remake them with another equal or lesser value bifocal or frame, etc. within the first 60 days. We simply charge the difference for any upgrades. I believe my appointment was good it. I learned a lot about my eyes. The only negative feedback I have is the wait I was scheduled for 3:30 and I got there at 2:30 so I could fill out my paper work but the whole time I was there was almost two hours until I left. But other than that I like it and it was very useful.

Hi Daisy, Thanks for your feedback! Wow, you got here early! Usually we ask that you get here 15 minutes early for paperwork if you are new or you can download the forms from our website and bring them with you. Usually a comprehensive eye exam with dilation takes an hour from your appointment time. Sometimes if there is a cancellation we can get you in early but in your case we were running on time. What a pleasure. I was having problems with reading, so I went in for eye exam. Several things are impressive: 1) Paperwork you need to fill out is available online, if you want to fill it out in advance; 2) All the staff was friendly and very helpful; 3) Dr. Quesenberry took time to explain changes and answer questions; 4) Staff took the time in helping me make a selection on new eyeglasses (I didn't feel rushed). Cynthia, thanks for your feedback. I certainly understand the frustration of surprises at checkout, and its one thing I have worked very hard to combat. Our contact lens patient agreement is included in the forms everyone signs at check in and upon review it does appear that you signed it stating that you have read and understand the policy. It states, "Please be aware that the fitting/evaluation and management of contact lenses is performed in addition to your eye exam and there is a separate fee for this service. ...The evaluation and management fee is based on the type of contact lenses prescribed and the complexity of the evaluation and management process. It may not be covered by insurance." If you ever have any questions about the fees we charge, please feel free to ask and I'm happy to discuss them with you in person before any service is rendered. I certainly agree that surprises -- especially so close to the holidays is no fun. - Dr. Jared Quesenberry

Karen, Thanks for your comments. I trust by your high rating and survey comments that you otherwise enjoyed your experience here. We do have many people trying to get in before the year's end whether it be for diabetic evaluations, to use up met deductibles or flexible spending dollars, etc. so we have been working at capacity. We also are very proud of the fact that we serve patients of all ages, from infants to seniors and cater to each person's needs. That being said, we regret the reception area experience was unpleasant for you. We are excited to announce that we are expanding our efficiency capacity and reception area (next month) January-February 2016 by 40% and to include a designated children's play area, and sub-waiting areas and this should be less of an issue in the future no matter what time of the year your appointment happens to be! We definitely want to make sure your records get where they are supposed to go, so if there is ever an issue - please call our office and let us know they did not receive them. It typically takes 3-5 business days after your exam for any records to be processed and sent to another office. If you need records transferred sooner, you are welcome to take a copy of your records the day of your appointment and deliver it to the requesting office. We take sanitation and hygiene very seriously at our office, and I honestly have never received this complaint before. I assure you it is our protocol that all our equipment is cleaned by our technician with alcohol prior to each patient use. Usually it is cleaned in front of the patient so you know it has been cleaned, but on some occasions it happens before the patient has entered the room. I've been to several eye doctors as a child, when I was active duty AF, and in the Bedford area....NEVER in the past 15 years of wearing corrective lenses have I been 20/20 until Dr. Q saw me. He diagnosed me with a medical condition that dealt with my eye muscle and referred me immediatly to the appropriate medical provider. He also spent the time to listen to me and I now finally have 20/20 vision with corrective lenses! I know longer see in a fog and he has improved my life! Thank you thank you thank you

I was very pleased with all aspects of the recent eye exams that my grandson and I recently experienced with one exception. I was very disappointed with the services of the optician when selecting eyeglasses for my grandson for his first ever eyeglasses. I do not feel he was helpful in making recommendations. As a result, I had my personal prescriptions filled at LensCrafters. The experience was like night and day. The opticians handed me a tray where we pulled frames. They also made recommendations, and as a result, I ordered two new frames and lenses. Choosing eyeglasses is a personal investment, and I felt like I good have gotten the same level of service at Walmart. After visiting LensCrafters, I am concerned about the fit of my grandson's glasses as no measurements were taken, and very few recommendations were offered when we shopped for his first pair of glasses. Had I an opportunity to do it over again, I would have his prescription filled elsewhere. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to share our experience.

I am trying to find where the breakdown happened to see what we can do better in our optical. I remember discussing personally with you my recommendations in the exam room for your grandson's lens options, and discussing this with our optician. Unfortunately in the case of your grandson, his vision plan only allows certain frames and lens options for him to pick from. This is very frustrating for us as well, and I'm sure this must have been a breakdown in communication. Shopping with our opticians is (supposed to be) fun, informative and helpful. We do pride ourselves on providing individualized eyewear consultations and making recommendations that will complement your lifestyle needs and sense of fashion. We utilize velvet trays that help us narrow our selection as we go, and every care is given to make sure that measurements are taken properly and your glasses are properly adjusted at pickup. But even as much effort we put into making sure your experience is fantastic, we sometimes fall short of what we strive for - and for this I apologize. In the case of your grandson, I can tell you that after January 1st, 2016 these insurance companies will no longer be able to restrict your frame choices and level of care. You were concerned about the measurements taken for your grandson's glasses and I know why you were concerned. You saw the measurements that Lenscrafters took for your glasses and compared that to what your grandson received at my office. The lens options I recommended for you were a digital progressive primary pair, and a second computer prescription since you spend so much time on the computer. Both of these require monocular PD measurements and segment heights which are not needed for your grandson's prescription. I assure you our opticians are well trained and that they collected the necessary measurements. If your grandson has any difficulty though with his new prescription, please return within the first 60 days, as there is no charge for prescription or glasses rechecks or remakes within this time. Please accept my apologies that we did not meet your expectations for your grandson, we hope you will allow us to earn your business in the future. I will be reaching out by phone later this week. In your case, your glasses and contact lens prescription were finalized on the day of your exam and you didn't have to return for any follow up care. You also asked us for a copy of your prescription and said that your mom has a connection to purchase them elsewhere. We provided your contact lens Rx as requested, and didn't pressure you for a sale at checkout. You mentioned that your glasses were not adjusted when you purchased them, which is not surprising - this is because that is traditionally done when you pick them up. Dr. Q called me after my appointment to check on something I had mentioned to make sure we addressed all of my issues and it made me feel like he really cared about me. That's #1 in my book when it comes to a doctor. I called today to see if my glasses were ready yet and everyone made sure I got them today when they heard I wouldn't be able to get them for another week if I didn't get them today. So everyone made me feel important and cared about. This is probably the best experience I've had.
