Very professional staff that are thorough and detailed in their examination. My medical history was updated and all medications were updated. This is important as some medications can affect eye pressures, etc. I saw Dr. Robinson who was thorough in his examination of my eyes and discussed with me changes that he saw.

Overall I had a great experience. My only negative is that when I made the appointment, I was told that I would pay $25 our to pocket for the refraction and $100 for a contact lens fitting. When I met with the doctor, she disclosed the contact lens fitting fee as $250 plus about $300 for the contacts themselves. This seems extremely excessive. My previous ophthalmologist did not charge extra for ordering my contact lenses and they were $150 for a pair. Aside from this glitch, I found your staff to be very professional and courteous. I will definitely return.

Dr. Robinson is an excellent eye doctor. His is informative and and allows his patients to ask questions, and makes them feel comfortable with his diagnosis and treatments..I highly recommend this practice. The staff is also very pleasant, polite and respectful to their patients.

I’ve had good experience with Advanced over recent years. Your opthamologistcaught the beginnings of a detaching retina a couple of years ago and immediately got me to a retina specialist, thereby staunching the ongoing detachment and preventing further deterioration.

At previous appointments I have been satisfied;however, I was disappointed with the service I received on March 26. The actual exam with the doctor was so rushed it left me uncomfortable. I realize the hour was close to closing time. I had questions concerning a few issues that I had raised with the first nurse who actually conducted th majority of the exam. Those were not answered. I did place a call the next day to get some clarity and was frankly brushed off. As someone who has worn glasses since the age of 6, I definitely understand vision fluctuates from year to year at times. I do feel my concern was valid. My dad introduced my to advance eye center after he was a patient for years. I have personally recommended this office. After my experience this time, I have honestly already reached out to find a trusted eye doctor who will be willing to take time to listen and explain. I hope that this review helps and genuinely hope that if I return for an exam, things will be improved.

I switched to a optometrist closer to my home a few years ago since I only get an annual eye exam and new contacts/glasses (have no further issues or concerns). The past 3 years I have had to wear glasses 24/7 as my optometrist could not accurately prescribe contacts that worked for me. I switched back to this practice for this year's exam and Dr. Robinson and his staff took GREAT care of me -- listening to my concerns, answering questions and FINALLY prescribing contacts that I can actually see with (ditching those glasses again). Thank you, thank you!

I've been a patient of Dr. Ackerman for nearly 30 years, and always pleased with his thoroughness during every exam. (Just be sure to allow two hours for your visit, because you'll spend an hour just sitting, after his staff does the initial exam, before you see the doctor.)

Appt at 1:40 got there at 1:00? By 1:09 already had eyes dialated was waiting on dr. At 2:45 ask nurse why I’ve been waiting so long she said there were two emergency. The very least they could have done is come tell me. So after I spoke up, apparently someone pays attention to me and was seen in less than 5 min. My time is also important. Not happy at all. May never go back

I filled out the survey sent via text message. I requested a call for an explanation of the comment that was made to me at check out that my vision was "barely legal to drive". Dr Robinson said nothing to me remotely like that during my appointment. I was completely taken aback by the techs comment, especially since she made it while other patients were standing in line with us.

Dr Kim and assistants were excellent. They were very very thorough. I was impressed. I have been there before several times before but this time service was very good and people very nice. My only problem was you are not in my medical network and that causes my expenses to cost me more out of pocket. The associates in the glasses were also excellent and very accommodating.

None of the issues with my eyes were addressed. Vision loss was not, vision improves or worsens at times was not, blood flow to the optic nerve was not, when my vision is hard to focus and seems to improve with eye rotation was not. When I vitamins was recommended by the Dr., I asked what are I vitamins, his response was multivitamins for the eyes. What are they and use? Multivitamins was his only response. He gave me a sample of lubricating drops and a sample of the multivitamins. What about vision loss? Oh, we'll do a field of vision check in six months. I guess if I lose more of my vision he will up the vitamin dosage and see me in another six months.

Dr. Ackerman is considerate and professional. He knows his stuff. But I have to comment on the Optometric part of the business. Even though their expertise and friendliness is a positive, their prices are not. I could not believe how expensive it was to get my new glasses in my new prescription. Next time I'm going elsewhere. I would definitely recommend Dr. Ackerman, but not the Optometry. Too expensive.

All else is a '10' except a communication issue. One of your technicians spoke too quickly, spoke too lightly, and didn't enunciate. Yes, I know she deals with multiple people, generally saying the same thing over and over. Most of the customers in your business are elderly. Taking two extra seconds to slow down speech, open mouth for at least moderate volume, and separate words would greatly help the customer understand instructions. Hearing a customer say "what?" several times should be a clue!

They took too long for my surgery and I did not see any improvement and then getting the prescription right for my new glasses was a real hassle. The optometrists did not seem to know what they were doing. I also had to pay a great amount of money out of pocket besides what they got from my insurance. I also thought the tweaks were a scam to get more money and I couldn't tell any difference after that was done either.

I would give Dr. Kim and the other ladies I saw during the exam portion of my appointment 5 stars - they were all pleasant and professional and I felt my care was in good hands at that time. However, I have had a terrible experience with the ordering of my glasses. Clinician Ana and optical manager Kevin have tried to make me pay for progressive lenses that my insurance covers, and that I ordered the day of my exam, but that somehow did not translate to the ordering of my glasses. Ana and Kevin both tried to make this issue MY fault, even though I KNOW WHAT I ORDERED. Beware and consider having your exam here, but purchasing glasses elsewhere.

going to see the eye doctor is a bit like going to the dentist. no one really looks forward to it, but it's a necessary thing to do. ashley was gentle and comforting in the first stage, and that really kept me feeling calm. all the other women who had parts to play were highly efficient. in a doctor's office, i appreciate that so much. dr. robinson is completely delightful to work with, and although i don't like the dilation, i'm glad i had that done. one only has one set of eyes, and i'm happy to have good people looking out for mine.

Things are always better after a visit/check-up at AEC, and I've recommended AEC to numerous friends. Beginning at the front desk at check-in to the exam by the doctor, everybody at AEC is respectful, professional and thorough. One thing I really appreciate is that they listen to me. I have nerve damage from an auto accident, thus my situation is a bit complicated. They take the time to customize a plan for me, and I am always better when I leave then when I arrived.

I took my 5 year old in for her first eye exam. The nurses and doctors amazing with her! They spoke so she could understand. She was treated like a queen. When the nurse went to do the dilation drops she had my daughter count to 10 which helped her relax and get through the few seconds of discomfort. I will be taking my whole family to Advanced Eye Center from now on!

After wearing coke bottle lenses all my life I can see things that I have never seen before. There is dust in my house I had no idea about and it is shocking to see how many wrinkles are on my face! But, I am so blessed to finally see. Now I can even drive at night. Advanced Eye Center has changed my life and I would recommend anyone use them for cataract surgery. Office medical technicians were unfriendly and rude. I was asked for my medications, then told we would do them in another room, that wasn't done, so I asked and was told that she would obtain meds from the pharmacy. I questioned that and said I was told per text to bring the list and another tech told me that people are not honest about their medications and they prefer to obtain from pharmacy and then she attempted to turn conversation to number of text received. I am not too old to know my medications, nor am I dishonest, and I do not appreciate the reference to age or dishonesty. I am employed as a full time Registered Nurse, and do not appreciate the rudeness or unfriendliness of the technicians staff during this visit. I would never treat a patient in such an unfriendly manner or be condescending to them during an appointment. The front office staff were wonderful and very helpful and friendly. The doctor was having to take his own charts to rooms and the office was not busy at all during the time I was there, there was only 1 other patient present. Obviously, I am very unhappy with the visit this time.

Not impressed with first visit waited 2 1/2hrs to see the Dr. I had VSP ins and was told they didn’t take my insurance.. called the following day to say they did take my insurance and I would have a 10.00 copay. I work in the medical field and came there because it was highly recommended. But I was really disappointed and so was the person who referred me... she felt bad and couldn’t believe the wait... I doubt I’ll go back. I have 2 jobs and can’t wait this long for a routine eye exam...I really just didn’t feel anyone I encountered was that friendly and nobody smiled. Not a welcoming atmosphere!

Until this recent appointment, my wait time has always been reasonable. This last time I was promptly called back for the preliminary exam but then had to sit for 2 hours in the internal waiting room to see the doctor for a very brief consultation (maybe 5 minutes or less). I asked 2 staff members after more than an hour and a half hour after that when I would be seen. I left my 11 am appointment at 1:10 pm - I hope this doesn't happen again. The next day I had a procedure and was treaed promptly.

I have always liked going to Advanced Eye Care because I felt like I could trust them. I bring my family here as well. On this trip, the Dr suggested trying a contact to help with reading, seeing small print etc. He said they would give me some free samples and if I liked it, I could order more. Easy. Sounds great. When I checked out I was informed that I now had a 50$ contact fitting fee in addition to my regular vision exam. I felt like that was pretty shady and probably an easy way for the office to earn an extra 50$. Please don't assume everyone has vision insurance and stuff like that will go unnoticed.

I was told there was a charge this year for the first time for an eye exam. I paid it and called my insurance company. I had a contact and glasses eye exam. All went very nicely. I was just surprised that when the doctor gave me my contacts he didn’t have me try them on and see if I could see very well with them or not. He said just take these home and see if you like them. He was changing me to a new contact Lense I hadn’t worn before. Also I think that when you have an eye exam and they put those drops in your eyes to dilate them that they should tell you when you make the appointment you should make sure you have someone Else there to drive you home. My eyes were very blurry and I was uncomfortable driving home.

Yu have been great at diagnosing problems. Right now it is sagging eye lids but the important one is: Both my wife and I have annual checkups. A few years ago Dr. Ackerman notices a very small spot in the back of her eye. He wanted to tracket it because he said it might be important. # months later we went back for a follow-up. He said he did not like the looks of the spot. He told us he was referring us to a Retina Specialist. he also said they might call him a "little old lady" but he wanted it looked at by a specialist. He was RIGHT! This small spot turned out to be Retina Melanoma. If he did not spot the problem in the early stages, we could have had some serious problems. The Melanoma was removed and we are please to have Dr. Ackerman as our Opthamologist.

This was my first visit to this practice as I had decided to change eye doctors. They were short handed with two employees out so that lengthened my wait time. I was pleased to see a sign in the waiting room that said, "If you have waited 30 minutes and have not been called, please ask at the desk". This gave me the assurance I could ask without being impatient. Once I was taken in to be seen, there was almost no wait time. The process moved very quickly and professionally. I will return to this practice and so will my husband.

I didn’t feel Dr. Ackerman spent enough time with me. He didn’t check my eyes for glaucoma. He just brought this lady in, looked at my eyes for less than a minute and said yes u have cataracts. U need them removed. U don’t drop that information on a person. I was mad at myself for not asking him why he didn’t examine my eyes for glaucoma.

For several years I have been a highly satisfied patient at Advanced Eye Center; my experiences there are always top shelf. Everyone I have encountered from office staff to technicians to doctors are knowledgeable, friendly, and in all ways professional. I have been examined by all 3 doctors and confidently recommend each of them. Last summer I had cataracts removed from both eyes. The surgical team is impressively organized and thoroughly capable; their gentleness encouraged me and put me totally at ease. The surgery was successful and I have recommended Dr. Akerman to several friends.

I know right unheard of. I was greeted promptly and they were very nice as well as caring. I went through with some test and then met the Doctor. He was very kind and caring. Was extremely disappointed in my last office visit. I drive 100 miles one way to come to the office and I had made an appointment to see the doctor. When I arrived I saw a technician for the pre-exam and then that’s all I saw. Never did get to see a doctor at all. I have been coming to advanced eye center for many years but I feel like they didn’t want me back.

Upon receiving a recommendation from my health provider for Advanced Eye Care, I was able to schedule an appointment for the next day. The testing staff was friendly, quick and accurate. I was very pleased with the provider. However a new tech was being trained, who didn't seem confident in setting up the equipment and it made me uncomfortable. The new tech had poorly groomed fingernails with bright pink polish that was partially scraped off each nail. They didn't look sanitary enough to be placing drops in my eyes. Medical providers, who have patient contact, should always have well groomed nails. If polish is worn, it should be clear or neutral. It would be nice if you had a policy in place so your techs have a more professional appearance.

Dr. Ackerman is great... I've been a patient for more than 20 years. He seems to always be on the cutting-edge (no pun intended). Only two issues: appointments run too long because staff isn't on time; they'll attempt to switch you off to a staff optometrist unless you insist that your appointment be with Ackerman, who is a qualified optholmolgist M.D. Otherwise, this ts the place to go for quality eye-care.

She did leave me hanging about a previous injury to my eye (an unknown happening to me) in that she did not tell me what exactly she saw from the injury.

First off, the Dr was great. He took his time, even though this was a routine check up. He made sure my questions were answered and provided thorough explanations. Every other contact left a great deal to be desired. Apparently at check in I should have been asked if I was getting contacts again or not and should have been provided a form. I was not asked, nor was I provided the form, thus I was not given the chance to explain that this visit was for glasses only, not for contacts. The women who did my initial part of the exam did a fine job, but was not exactly friendly. I was clear to both the nurse and the Dr. that I was not there for contacts that day, only for glasses. I was not fitted for contacts at my visit. At check out, the clerk tried to charge me for a contact fitting. I explained that I was not there for contacts, but was told I would have to pay anyway since I was fitted for contacts last year. I refused to pay and insisted that my prescription be only for glasses. The clerk then hands me a form that I was supposed to get at check in and told me to read it. My eyes had been DILATED. I could not read the form. The clerk then went to find another Dr (other than the one I had seen) and she signed off on me not paying for the "contact fee" and made a rather snide remark. I will not be back, nor will my family. I will not recommend you to anyone.

Unprofessional. I had an appointment scheduled and arrived on time to find out my appointment was cancelled due to the doctor calling out sick. I hope the doctor feels better soon. My problem was with how the laxk of effort was made to let me know the appointment was cancelled. The lady at the front desk said the office called you to let you know the doctor would not be in. So I pulled out my phone and said what number was the call made from. She confirmed the number, which was on my caller ID, however the office did NOT leave a message and did NOT attempt to contact me at any point after that. I will not be returning. If your office doesn't have time to leave a message then I don't have time to spend my money at your establishment.

Staff is always professional. I have had 3 different doctors for 3 appointments, hopefully that will change. Main complaint is time. Always arrive on time and yet always there for obscene amount of time. This last appointment lasted 2 1/2 hrs! Reason I rated amount of time with patient good, time with doctor fine but amount of time waiting not.

I had previously been a patient of Dr. Wisehart and was always happy with his care. I was very pleased with the exam I recently had with Dr. Ackerman. However, I had to schedule an additional appointment with him after I saw Dr. Bugenske because I felt that she rushed through the eye exam and did not give me a very comprehensive explanation for the problems I was having. When the problem continued, I felt it was necessary to schedule an appointment with Dr. Ackerman.

I was disappointed in the waiting time in the waiting room for my appointment. I checked in at 1350 for a 1420 appt and was not taken back for pre-exam until 1505. A very long wait for an annual eye check up. If an emergency occurs it would be nice for the front desk to inform patients that they are running behind.

Since your asked. I am exceedingly pleased with Dr. Ackerman and his staff that assist in checking your vision. I trust him without question. However, I am less pleased with the office staff, those that handle the money end of the deal. My insurance is provided through my employer and we are currently in transition between one insurance company to another. As of the date of my appointment, 10/10/16 we did not have an Ins. group number or ID number. At that point all I could state was that my insurance is with United Healthcare and the broker is Turner, Wood & Smith. Debbie, with your office called them and they convinced her that the insurance was being installed and that we did not have the numbers yet. So, your office allowed me to go ahead with my appointment rather than re schedule. I greatly appreciate that. However, Debbie point blank told me to call the insurance company every day and ask for those numbers and as soon as I had them to call and let her know. I got to be blunt here, that really rubbed me the wrong way. I told her as soon as I had the information I would come by and give it to you folks. And now, 10/14/2016 Debbie is calling me asking about those numbers and telling me that the insurance company and or TWS should have them by now and that I need to call them and then call her. Again I told her as soon as I had that information I would bring it by the office. And again that really rubbed me the wrong way a second time. That's not a good thing. While Debbie has been very nice in conversation the underlying current is she needs those insurance numbers and she needs them NOW! That's my perception. Because of this I am strongly considering taking my business elsewhere. I don't want to change but I really don't appreciate how I am being treated. Overall I am satisfied. I did not have to wait as long this time as usual, so this is an improvement. Overall, the facilities were clean. I only rated cleanliness as Good, because the toilet in the bathroom was nasty. However, this could have just happened and when I informed the people at the desk they said they would have someone clean it right away.

Advanced Eye Center appreciates you allowing us to provide your eye health care. Since Dr. Wisehart retired, one of our associates married and moved away. We now have 2 new associates, one who is a Gainesville native, and both plan to stay with us for a while. They are both fully trained and capable of providing excellent eye care.

I don't have a problem with Advanced Eye Center. But my only concern is that each year I have to see a different person. (Eye Dr.) I do not like the fact I have to trust someone new each year. Thought that if I stayed with one place, I would have one dr familiar with me. Not the case here.

Thank you for allowing Advanced Eye Center to help with your eye care. After 20 years of little turnover, our senior doctor retired and associate doctor married and moved away. We do have 2 new associates that we expect to stay with us for a while.
