My recent experience with Southern CT Dermatology was great! The nurse and Dr. Evans took the time to answer all my questions and hear all my concerns. They explained conditions and treatment options in a very clear and sympathetic manner. Recently, I have felt very dismissed and rushed by doctors, however, Dr. Evans and her team did not make me feel that way at all--it was very refreshing. Additionally, the front desk crew made scheduling easy and were kind.

While the Blue Light treatment itself was not so pleasant, her staff was very friendly and knowledgable. They checked on me multiple times as I was undergoing the treatment.

Every time I go to SoCo Dermatology, I am treated with respect and care. The staff is friendly and professional. They are quick but never make me feel rushed. Dr. Evans has assembled a team of caring and competent dermatology and aesthetics professionals. On the medical side, whenever I get a skin check or biopsy, Dr. Evans or the Physician's Assistant explain everything to me patiently and respectfully treating me as if I am, with them, an intelligent partner in my own health care. I can't recommend this practice more highly.

This was my first time at Southern Connecticut Dermatology. I sought a woman dermatologist who could offer body checks and handle cosmetic skin issues. Equally important, I needed a practice that provided fast appointments and enabled me to speak to human beings rather than wait endlessly on automated phone calls. Robin Evans was excellent, provided the information I needed in a way I understood, offered insight into types of skin cancer and quickly helped me with some cosmetic procedures. She and her practice were direct about what would go to Medicare and what I needed to pay. I will be back next year.

Elizabeth of your office was of great help Wednesday , July 12, when I phoned to speak with Dr Evans . Dr Evans was not in the office . I was concerned because the site from which cells were removed by Dr Evans Tuesday was bleeding . I also spoke with My internist Dr Craig Olin ‘s nurse Kathy and we decided that I should omit 81 mg Aspirin which I take every day . I will omit it for 3 days ., Elizabeth said that Dr Evans said I should apply gentle pressure to the site which I did . And the bleeding stopped . So the team work was effective .. and Elizabeth was calm and that helped a lot !!!

Dr. Evans is exceptional--and I mean it when I say "exceptional." I am 74 years old and have had countless skin checks throughout my life. Dr. Evans gives the most thorough, careful exams I have ever had. In addition to taking the time to look at every inch of my skin, she uses a very bright overhead examining light, something that other doctors I have seen rarely use. She deserves a 10 star rating.

This is unquestionably the worst medical office I have ever attended, and I have been to more than most. The staff is beyond incompetent; it takes my breath away. Service first is lost here; if you value your time as most people do, this is not the place for you. The wait time for a new patient appointment is ridiculously long; the wait time once you get into the office for your appointment is too long. You are not getting free service; believe me, it's costly. Therefore, I shouldn't have to wait for the service for which I am paying. The office staff needs to be more knowledgeable about handling patients, insurance issues and providing honest, accurate answers and responses. When you pay for a service, you expect at least good, if not excellent, service. I did not get that here...but you try, maybe you will have a better experience than I...although I doubt it.

My experience with Southern Conn has been entirely positive. I have had weekly visits for close to a year and in each case I found Dr. Evans and all her Assistants personal, friendly lovely, charming and easy to connect with. All questions were properly attended to. In spite of the many surgeries all year, the visits were not stressful. I was pleased with the paucity of scars left after each incision, especially on the face.

I needed urgent medical care due to a condition. I called asking if they were taking new pay patients and they were and was able to take me within a few hours. Elizabeth was kind enough to send me forms to complete via email which was seamless. Jessie was great and sympathetic during my exam and medications prescribed were very effective. Southern Connecticut Dermatology is an excellent practice. I went for a skin cancer screening and left feeling much more educated on the subject. Dr Evans was great and the staff was superb.

The doctor was wonderful, staff nice, office clean. My only reason for the 3 stars is how long I waited. I first waited in the waiting room for about 30min past my scheduled time. Then another 15-20 in the patient room. This is a massive frustration seemingly with the entire industry so when I'm seen promptly I provide very high reviews and when I'm not I take a few stars off depending on the length of the delay. In my opinion this was much longer than could be considered reasonable.

All through my visit, she talked to me about what she was doing and why. She taught me what to be aware of and what to look out for. She taught me about skin care and sun exposure in a way I had never been taught before. She advised me about what my skin type was at risk for and ways I could mitigate further damage while keeping on top of damage already done. She listened. Setting up the first appointment and the follow up appointment with the receptionist was a breeze.

I think it is a reasonable expectation to be seen within 10 minutes of a scheduled appointment and if the doctor is running very late (45 minutes) the office should call to let the patient know before the patient arrives.

I was kept waiting for half an hour. I did not like the attitude of the examiner. This person doesn’t know how to talk to a patient, and demonstrated a lack of enunciating clearly when requested. Yelling isn’t enunciation! She reacted in a defensive, negative manner that engendered an uncomfortable atmosphere. I will never have any contact with her again! No one treats me in that fashion, and can expect to see me again. Perhaps more training should be initiated!

The office staff is always efficient and professional. I only had to wait a few minutes in the lobby but a long wait sitting in nothing but a paper gown. Dr Evans was very thorough with her annual body scan. She also explained the process clearly as well as things we need to monitor.

I made an appointment with Dr. Evans for a full body exam since I am at a high risk for skin cancer due to my ethnicity, genetics and lifestyle. She spent a lot of time with me going over my medical chart and concerns about skin cancer. She did a very thorough exam and found a suspicious spot that turned out to be a melanoma. Since it didn't have any of the usual signs, it was difficult to find. I had a follow up appointment to discuss the biopsy results and her suggestions for treatment and lifestyle changes. I can't thank her enough for being so thorough, patient and kind in a difficult diagnosis. I can't recommend her and her practice highly enough.

Overall experience was good. Admittedly this is the first time I’ve been to a dermatologist to have a preventative examination to check for abnormalities on my skin. Examination was thorough and an a mole was biopsied from my back on the spot and sent out for testing. NP said it didn’t look too concerning but that this is typical protocol. I had my questions answered, but had to ask more questions versus having information about the process proactively provided to me. Experience felt very transactional but felt good in how thorough the examination itself was.

The doctor didn't listen and or hear a word I said I told her that the two sites on my arm reoccur at exactly the same point approximately every few weeks and quite simply there must be something as in a stinger or a head of an insect and she couldn't understand the quite simple fact so I tried to bring her back into reality and let her know that from stage 4 cancer dad in the bed without a liver transplant I'm alive with no cancer whatsoever it is gone when I was trying to point out to her was to get her nose out of a textbook and into real life not everything was cut and dry I thought educated humans knew that my bad very disappointed in my treatment are black there of when I mentioned the liver cancer she said oh if it was itchy because of the liver cancer you would be itchy all over she completely missed the point that I was trying to explain to her that not everything is cut and dry once again open your eyes you have two eyes to see I was disgusted when I left there with her lack of if you will bedside manner or how about Humanity she should check herself and take it to prayer if she wants to be saved or she could just continue loving the big fat money dollar because her attitude was she wanted nothing to do with me at all and was rude crude and socially unacceptable until I mentioned cosmetic surgery and her eyes lit up she smiled put her hand on my shoulder and treated me like a best friend went to the dollar sign came up in the conversation everything switched completely it was disgusting

My brother saw her the day before and he says the same thing about her. Very rushed and uninterested.

I went to see Dr Ellie Christianson multiply times for a small cyst underneath my chin. I told her and the office representative that I didn’t have insurance. They said once I’m a patient. They will give me a discount, which they did. But it didn’t matter because I why I was asked to go back close to 4 times spending almost a $1,000 of the little money I have for a procedure that takes 10 minutes and a follow up visits. She purposely did not drain my cyst throughly. So I was forced to come back multiply times. As I followed all her instructions to treat the area under my chin. The cyst came back. I called the office today and was told she no longer removes cyst. So now, I have to see Dr.Evans who doesn’t know my issue and have to pay more money for the same problem. This is unfair and not right.

This is probably the first reference I've ever taken the time to write,but as a medical professional myself, I feel it important to pass along a good reference when you find someone worth referring. This was my first visit to this office & I was very impressed not only with Dr Evans but with her entire practice. The girls that work for her couldn't have been more friendly, efficient, professional or knowledgeable. Nurse "Kim" was great! The office was noticeably immaculate. While waiting to be seen I found myself searching for a speck of dust or something out of place but was unsuccessful in my search! I found Dr Evans to be caring and professional, yet down to earth and easy to talk to. She was very thorough when getting a history which we all know is very important when making a diagnosis. I felt 100% confident in her diagnosis when leaving. Which was the complete opposite experience I had a month ago with another practitioner in town. Although she does offer a variety of beautifying services for those interested, there was no marketing tactics mentioned or pushed. And you didn't get hit at the counter to buy the miracle creams before leaving. I felt the health of my skin was her priority and it was more of a medical environment than a spa feeling. But as mentioned earlier, she does offer other services as well which I'm sure she is just as accomplished at. I would definitely recommend Dr Evans to anyone in need of care.

In 2002, when I decided to stop seeing my dermatologist in New York (who also happened to be the president of the American Academy of Dermatology), I asked him to refer me to the best dermatologist in CT. He gave me Dr. Evans' name and I have been seeing her ever since! She's brilliant, technically very astute when it comes to my annual body checks and deciding when to biopsey suspicious lumps and bumps, but also a real artist when it comes to Botox and fillers. I completely trust and highly recommend her.

I specifically requested to see Dr. Evans and for the second time in a row I was given an assistant. I essentially made an appointment to make an appointment and it cost me $100 for less than 1 minute of talking with an assistant about what I already knew. Not to mention I had to drive out of NYC for this appointment. It was a complete waste of time. I wish someone had just told me over the phone to make the appointment to get the cyst removed instead of having me pay $100 to come in and make a new appointment - utter waste of time and money.

Good. I went for my yearly body scan and I had about 10 skin tags that I wanted removed. Dr. Evans reviewed the cost of removing up to 15 tags and that it wasn't covered by insurance. I understood that. She asked if she should remove any others she saw, I agreed figuring there were a few that I didn't see. When she got done she said she removed 32, which surprised me. When I went to check out, the bill was $600, which I wasn't prepared for. It was $250 for up to 15. Had I known that I had that many I would have spaced it out.

Dear Dr. Evans - I must tell you that I am quite unhappy. You prescribed an acne cream with a cost of $795! Are you kidding me! While I'm sure it's effective thats a ridiculous amount of money for an acne cream. Not sure if you are working for me or Big Pharma. I did not schedule a follow up when I left your office but today I got an email and text saying that an appointment has been set up for me. That was very presumptuous of you to assume I would want another appointment. I don't like feeling that I'm being forced into an appointment and if I didn't cancel it by phone would be responsible for payment. Very unprofessional.

It was a great experience until I was prescribed three brand name prescriptions and told I had to order them over the phone from three different pharmacies. I ended up requesting generics through my local pharmacy.

Prescription Mix Up: As noted above, I still don't have my prescriptions, and I am still itchy. I really hope to get this resolved on Monday. If the office can't resolve this and possibly apologize for their errors, I won't be returning.

Hi Lisa, I am so sorry to hear you had a problem with your Rx being called in. The computer shows that the nurse e-prescribed the medication on 10/24/14, the same day as your appointment. Our e-prescription keeps a log of all items called into the pharmacy and your Rx's were called in on the same day of your appointment. The four prescriptions were then called in again on 10/27/14, after receiving your phone call on Sat. 10/25/14 saying you never received the Rx's. It is possible that the mix up is with the pharmacy and not us. Please give us a call if you still have not received your medication. It will be taken care of today. Once again I am sorry for the inconvenience.

As usual, the quality of care was good, but very disappointed by the fact that I was scheduled to see the doctor and she couldn't make time for me (after a 45 minute wait, I ended up seeing the Physician's Assistant). It made me feel like a second tier patient.
